Was this "thanxgod I'm not japan american" directed at me? Actually I will be
back in America on the 22nd, so no worries! Plus, I will get see Moby too! But
I don't know what you are waiting for on the 17th. Play comes out on the 1st.
If it is the Honey/Run On, well I got that today. But yea, I want to know how
everyone is getting these promo CDs too. Not only are they before the rest of
us, but they are FREE too! Damn! Someone hook me up.
As for the Honey / Run On V2 release, even though it is those two songs that
I don't exactly love, it is nice to finally get a single that is 45 minutes
long. Actually worth listening to. But I havn't listened to it yet, so mayeb
my opinions will change after hearing it. I have Honey, Honey Remixes, Honey 2
track Promo, Honey 6 track Promo already, so I doubt that opinion will change,
but maybe some Run on mixes... Anyway Later.

To me it doesn't seem that you have a problem getting promo's!
Where the hell did you get those Honey CD promo's? ebay?
The only promo's I have are some way to expensive 12"s from
various online record stores... I never see any CD promo's!

Hello,
I've just become a member of eBay.
I have some questions:
- - eBay now has my ccard info, can I now bid on things?
- - Does eBay automattically charge me and pay the seller?
- - Or do I have to pay the seller directly?
- - Is eBay a kind of mediator between me and the seller?
- - Has anybody got any useful tips?
I would REALLY appreciate it if someone gave me some answers.
THANXALOT! Mail me privately at eijck@iae.nl
I hope to know my way around in eBay soon, It all seems so dificult now.

Run On is getting some airplay here in Dallas on 94.5 The Edge.
They've played a little Moby on the station in the past.
Move - I heard it once. I think they played it a few days.
Revolver - I heard it once.
BTW. Am I the only one on the list from Dallas? Or at least Texas?

Subject: (mobility) 'sell out'
damian,
could you post this for me, please? thanks
i've been following this 'sell out' thread, and i think that
it's possibly a more complicated issue than is being dealt with here.
whenever a musician(or artist or person) does something, they usually
do it for fairly unique and idiosyncratic reasons.
a musician who sells a song to a commercial could be doing it because:
a-they love money
b-they want lots of people to hear their music
c-they're being pressured into doing it by the record company
d-they're being pressured into doing it by their managers
e-they're being pressured into doing it by their family
f-they're investing for their childrens college education
g-they're investing for their own education
h-they're insecure and want fame
i-they're very secure and want fame
j-who knows?
i guess my point is that it's difficult to establish black & white
standards regarding a 'sell-out'.
one could make a compelling argument that whenever a musician
provides his/her services in exchange for money that it's a sell out.
i've certainly done lots of things in my professional career that could
be considered 'sell outs'. who knows, by most peoples standards
maybe some of them were. but i know that my reasons for doing things
are often fairly idiosyncratic and complex.
i personally prefer to enjoy the music that i enjoy regardless of
whether there's a possible taint of 'sell out' attached to it. i love
donna summer and kraftwerk and led zeppelin and abba and jay-z and the
prodigy and george gershwin, and they've all done everything in their
power to 'sell out'. but they still made(and make) wonderful,
passionate music.
the marriage of art and commerce is always a strange thing. but thank
goodness that it exists or else we wouldn't have so much music to listen
to.
just my 2 cents.

Run On - Extended=20
Sunday
Down Slow - Full Length Version
It's absolutely beautiful.
Just a couple of quick comments.
Does anyone notice a striking similarity in the keyboard riff chord =

of "Sunday" and that of Faithless "Insomnia"?
Also, the Run On Extended seems to be a little different on the CD
than the Run On Extended on the vinyl 12"
Has anyone else noticed this.

Yes. There are actually five different edits of Run On, not counting
the remixes!
the radio edit, from the UK promo CD RCDMute221
the single version, from CDMute221
the vinyl extended version (12Mute221)
the CD extended version (LCDMute221)
the album version, from _Play_
There are two different extended versions because of a snafu while
mastering the various "Run On" formats. As I understand it, it was
decided that it would be too much trouble to redo the vinyl master
once it was discovered that the CD version was different, so the
different extended versions were released as-is. Which is fine
with me. I like having lots of versions of songs. :)

Robert,
I think Daniel mentioned last month that there's 5 different edits of Run
On! I don't have the #2 single yet, but I've heard the US 12", the UK 12",
US Honey/Run On, and Mute CD#1.
The US 12" has the Sharam Jey and Young & Funky mixes, but no original. Of
the two extended versions I've heard (US CD and UK 12") I like the US CD one
the best. The intro sounds a bit different to me, but I can't pick out the
exact diffence since I'm not at home right now. I think it has an extra
break in the beats in the beginning or something. I put in the UK CD for
Spirit & Running, I don't listen to the edit of Run On because I miss the
outtro synths & extra choruses.
I know I promised a review of the US CD, and it's still coming. I've been
busy as all getout. :)
I finally got the Evil Ninja Moby EIW remix discs, and I love the high
energy part of disc 1! I got the FSR 12" two weeks ago and I've been playing
the Westbam mix a lot, so when I heard those "Take me away" samples in the
EYTM mix I knew what was coming, and I started bouncing all about. That and
the Uplifting 4 Beat mix had me giddy and jumpy. What fun these discs are!
Shame on a friend of mine for insisting on random shuffle when he played it
for me in the past.
A note to the contest winners, I've received all your addresses and they've
been forwarded to V2. Your CDs will be sent out soon.
Moby, thank you ever so much for the wonderful music! Keep up the heartfelt
and fresh work. Keep surprising me. :)
- -Steve

That's a coincidense! guess what was playing in my cd-rom when I
read your Mobility message, yes: Insomnia! (I was playing the 2cd
version of the Faithless album Reverence)
You're right, especially the beginning synth has almost the same chord
progression as Insomnia. As a whole I think Sunday sounds a lot like
Moby's "Shining" from the Into The Blue single and Disk.
This message concludes my Mobility pollution for today. (phew)
