  53. If it is the Honey/Run On, well I got that today. But yea, I want to know how
  54. everyone is getting these promo CDs too. Not only are they before the rest of
  55. us, but they are FREE too! Damn! Someone hook me up. 
  56.     As for the Honey / Run On V2 release, even though it is those two songs that
  57. I don't exactly love, it is nice to finally get a single that is 45 minutes
  58. long. Actually worth listening to. But I havn't listened to it yet, so mayeb
  59. my opinions will change after hearing it. I have Honey, Honey Remixes, Honey 2
  60. track Promo, Honey 6 track Promo already, so I doubt that opinion will change,
  61. but maybe some Run on mixes... Anyway Later.

  279. i've been following this 'sell out' thread, and i think that
  280. it's possibly a more complicated issue than is being dealt with here.
  281. whenever a musician(or artist or person) does something, they usually
  282. do it for fairly unique and idiosyncratic reasons.
  283. a musician who sells a song to a commercial could be doing it because:
  284. a-they love money
  285. b-they want lots of people to hear their music
  286. c-they're being pressured into doing it by the record company
  287. d-they're being pressured into doing it by their managers
  288. e-they're being pressured into doing it by their family
  289. f-they're investing for their childrens college education
  290. g-they're investing for their own education
  291. h-they're insecure and want fame
  292. i-they're very secure and want fame
  293. j-who knows?
  294. i guess my point is that it's difficult to establish black & white
  295. standards regarding a 'sell-out'.
  296. one could make a compelling argument that whenever a musician
  297. provides his/her services in exchange for money that it's a sell out.
  298. i've certainly done lots of things in my professional career that could
  299. be considered 'sell outs'.  who knows, by most peoples standards
  300. maybe some of them were.  but i know that my reasons for doing things
  301. are often fairly idiosyncratic and complex.
  302. i personally prefer to enjoy the music that i enjoy regardless of
  303. whether there's a possible taint of 'sell out' attached to it.  i love
  304. donna summer and kraftwerk and led zeppelin and abba and jay-z and the
  305. prodigy and george gershwin, and they've all done everything in their
  306. power to 'sell out'.  but they still made(and make) wonderful,
  307. passionate music.
  308. the marriage of art and commerce is always a strange thing.  but thank
  309. goodness that it exists or else we wouldn't have so much music to listen
  310. to.

  445. Yes.  There are actually five different edits of Run On, not counting
  446. the remixes!

  448.   the radio edit, from the UK promo CD RCDMute221
  449.   the single version, from CDMute221
  450.   the vinyl extended version (12Mute221)
  451.   the CD extended version (LCDMute221)
  452.   the album version, from _Play_
  453.  
  454. There are two different extended versions because of a snafu while
  455. mastering the various "Run On" formats.  As I understand it, it was
  456. decided that it would be too much trouble to redo the vinyl master
  457. once it was discovered that the CD version was different, so the
  458. different extended versions were released as-is.  Which is fine
  459. with me.  I like having lots of versions of songs. :)

  518. On! I don't have the #2 single yet, but I've heard the US 12", the UK 12",

  521. The US 12" has the Sharam Jey and Young & Funky mixes, but no original. Of 
  522. the two extended versions I've heard (US CD and UK 12") I like the US CD one 
  523. the best. The intro sounds a bit different to me, but I can't pick out the 
  524. exact diffence since I'm not at home right now. I think it has an extra 
  525. break in the beats in the beginning or something. I put in the UK CD for 
  526. Spirit & Running, I don't listen to the edit of Run On because I miss the 
  527. outtro synths & extra choruses.

  529. I know I promised a review of the US CD, and it's still coming. I've been 
  530. busy as all getout. :)

  532. I finally got the Evil Ninja Moby EIW remix discs, and I love the high 
  533. energy part of disc 1! I got the FSR 12" two weeks ago and I've been playing 
  534. the Westbam mix a lot, so when I heard those "Take me away" samples in the 
  535. EYTM mix I knew what was coming, and I started bouncing all about. That and 
  536. the Uplifting 4 Beat mix had me giddy and jumpy. What fun these discs are! 
  537. Shame on a  friend of mine for insisting on random shuffle when he played it 
  538. for me in the past.

  566. That's a coincidense! guess what was playing in my cd-rom when I
  567. read your Mobility message, yes: Insomnia! (I was playing the 2cd
  568. version of the Faithless album Reverence)

  570. You're right, especially the beginning synth has almost the same chord
  571. progression as Insomnia.  As a whole I think Sunday sounds a lot like
  572. Moby's "Shining" from the Into The Blue single and Disk.
