Subject: (mobility) Moby WinAmp skinz question..
Hello fellow Moby fans,
A lot of you may have WinAmp 2.20 by now.
It has a new feature, a Winshade Mode for the equalizer.
And now the problem is that I can't figure out how to skin it.
Does anyone know how I can skin the Winshade for the
equalizer (and perhaps the minibrowser?), or can somebody
figure this out for me? (It must be somewhere in the .exe file..)
Oh, and when it comes to programming, I'm an absolute novice,
so please go easy on the computer language...
Mail me privately at eijck@iae.nl
MANY, MANY THANKS!
Bart
ps: new Moby skin available soon!

Subject: (mobility) 10 autographed Honey/Run On CDs: Trivia Contest!
It is with great pleasure that I announce that Moby and V2 are
sponsoring a contest on the internet! The 1st 10 people to email me
(power_hymn@hotmail.com) with correct answers to the below questions will
each receive the new Honey/Run On US maxi CD single autographed by the man
himself, Moby!
Q1) What is Moby's middle name?
Q2) What town did Moby grow up in?
Q3) What was Moby's birthdate? Where was he born?
Q4) What was Moby's first solo release under the name Moby?
Q5) Moby let MTV change the lyrics & vocals to one of his songs for the
music video. Which song was it? Name one of the lines that was changed, and
what it was changed to.
Q6) Which Ozzy Osbourne song did Moby produce?
Q7) Which was the first Instinct release to have Moby's name on it?
Q8) Name two pseudonyms that Moby has used.
Q9) Which television theme did Moby sample for "Go"?
Q10) Axl Rose asked Moby to produce the next Guns 'N' Roses album. Name one
reason that Moby said no.
Big THANK YOUs to MOBY and V2 for their kindness and generosity!
Have fun and good luck, everybody!
DO NOT SEND YOUR ANSWER TO THE MAILING LIST. Send them to me.
(power_hymn@hotmail.com) Only one entry is allowed per person, though you
may send it to me twice if it makes you feel better. :) As I stated above,
the 1st 10 people with the correct answers will win. This is a first-come,
first-serve type of arrangement. All results are final.

In response to some questions that I've received,
You can only enter the contest once, as in you can only win one prize. You
MAY change your answers after you've submitted them, but your new answers
will be considered received by me when you changed them instead of when you
originally sent them.
This contest is open to anybody that wishes to enter, not just mobility
subscribers.
In the event that I do not receive 10 entries with 10 correct answers, those
with the best score will win, earliest entries first.
There are no trick questions, but read carefully.
:)

Yes, it's me again. :) Hello.
I will publish the answers on mobility after the conclusion of the contest.
I will not tell you which ones you got right & wrong while the contest is
still running. I will wish you good luck.
The questions are specific if you read them carefully. I paid extra special
attention to clarity when I made these up.

OK peeps, i know it's been a while since i've written anything. life has
been busy and finals are this week. i got Run On and Run On Remixes in the
mail yesterday from Action Records. i think i like this new sound of
Moby... it's refreshing. i especially like the price i got for the two cd's
and a t-shirt, around $22 American. i didn't realize that things are
cheaper in great britain. :)
i'd like to welcome to the list all the new members. i had conflicts with
my mail program earlier and couldn't send any mail, but could receive it.
also Mobyee your text of your e-mails are not coming through to me, is this
happening to anyone else on this list???
anyways, looking forward to getting Play soon and just letting ppl know that
i'm still around.

entries (100% correct answers) that I've received since this morning. Keep
them coming, friends & neighbors, there's still 4 more copies of Honey/Run

Hello everybody,
While I was browsing some online record stores I came across
a really weird title that was claimed to be from the artist MOBY:
- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Title Name: Bodywork
Artist Name: Moby
Genre: 7" Single
Catalog Number: WW3400496x
Retail: $ 12.95
- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I know the next Moby single will be BodyROCK, could this be
some strange promo or something?
What also strikes me is that it's pretty expensive for a 7" vinyl...

Subject: (mobility) Contest Winners
Thanks to everybody who submitted answers to the trivia questions! I had a
much better response to this contest than to the review one. I need almost
all of your addresses. Please send them to me and I'll forward them together
to V2!
These are the winners, in order of winning entries:
1) Andrew Davies <DAVIESA@uwplatt.edu>
2) Jeff Rizzo <jeff@halloweentown.com>
3) Ryan McMahon <kicks@iastate.edu>
4) Brett McSherry <crimson_king@altavista.net>
5) Chris Perkins <cdperk@trib.com>
(you can keep your foot, Chris! :)
6) Torin Macbeth <tmacbeth@hotmail.com>
7) Samu Heinonen <samuhei@dlc.fi>
8) Adekunle Olonoh <ade@kirk.anderson.edu>
9) Daniel Redmond <itsatest@juno.com>
10) Bart Van Eijck <eijck@IAE.nl>
The answers:
1) What is Moby's middle name?
A: Melville
2) What town did Moby grow up in?
A: Darien, Connecticut
3)What was Moby's birthdate? Where was he born?
A: September 11, 1965 in New York City
4) What was Moby's first solo release under the name Moby?
A: Mobility was the first solo release. Several of you answered w/ Time's
Up, which was not a _solo_ effort. (see #7) Instinct Dance was the first US
CD, but there were several European CDs for Go, UHF, & Mindstorm that
predated Instinct Dance. The Mobility 12" was the release that predated them
all.
5) Moby let MTV change the lyrics and vocals to one of his songs. Name that
song and one line that was changed.
A: The song is "That's When I Reach For My Revolver" and the two lines that
were changed were changed to this:
That's when I realize it's over,
That's when it all gets thrown away,
I only asked for one of the 'new' lines, and many of you who put 'just' in
there or 'goes away' slid by because you got the 'realize it's over' part
correct, fulfilling the questions requirements. "Revolver" was accepted as a
short answer for the title portion of the question because it appears on
many CD single spines that way.
6)Which Ozzy Osbourne song did Moby produce?
A: "Walk On Water"
7) What was the first Instinct release to have Moby's name on it?
A: Moby was credited for insruments on The Brotherhood "Time's Up" 12"
shortly before the Mobility 12" was released.
Many answered with "Go" for this and #4. Go was a b-side on the mobility 12"
that later became a huge hit when Moby added a certain sample. (see #9)One
person answered that Time's Up and the Mobility came out at the same time.
That is incorrect.
8)Name two pseudonyms Moby has used.
A: UHF, Barracuda, Mindstorm, Brainstorm, Lopez, DJ Cake, Voodoo Child
9) What television theme did Moby sample for "Go"?
A: Laura Palmer's Theme, or Twin Peaks were accepted.
10) Name one reason Moby declined the offer to produce G'N'R.
A: Moby wanted to concentrate on his own music.
A: Moby didn't want to move to L.A.
Once again, I'd like to thank Moby and V2 for sponsoring this contest. I had
a lot of fun doing it, and I think everybody had fun participating. I know
the winners will definately enjoyed their autographed CDs.
