Go to DJ Beefchow's Webpage, then go to his TOP 10 List. Moby's Run-On is
listed as a Bonus Track to his Top 10 postings. You can listen to Moby's
New Run-On Entire Song!
There is also an MP3 of
Prodigy - Dirtchamber Sessions Vol 1 pt 2
And other good stuff.

a friend of mine started a techno-music fanzine a number of years ago
and needed some articles, interviews, etc. he interviewed Marc
Almond, Bob Moog, and some local industry people and I interviewed
Moby and also the late, great Damon Edge (a man who was amazingly
ahead of his time). he tried to track down Vince Clark also but found
that to be an impossible challenge!
I don't exactly remember the 'Moby' synth preset sound, Paul, but I
have the vague memory of a symphonic sound (strings or something).
could be completely wrong though, it's been awhile.

Here's my report:
The Crobar is a good-sized (about 1000 if squeezed tightly) space
that's all black and, you know, "decadent." The bars were uniformly
tended by women with enormous breasts, pushed forward, or by beefy-
looking guys. Not my thing, really, but hey.
Moby came on at midnight and played mostly trancey, epic tracks, with
extremely hard beats and splashes of vocals. He started with a good
speed-garage cut and worked out from there. And I have to be honest:
he was good but not amazing. Oh well. I left at 1:30--not because I
was disappointed (he was doing just fine) but because I was dead
tired. I'd taken a Greyhound from Mpls to Chicago the night before
and hadn't slept much or well; then I'd been walking around Chi-town
all day long, so my feet had had it. I'd also gotten to the club at
about 10:15 and danced to the first DJ (good stuff). So I couldn't
keep it going. Plus you couldn't fucking MOVE in this place. I didn't
stay till the end so I don't know if Moby dropped any of his own
stuff, but from the sound of it he didn't. Nope, not even others'
remixes of his. But he sounded good and I'm enjoying CHicago (where
I'm staying till Mon. nite).

Umm... CANADA'S WONDERLAND? that is so non rave friendly its amusing...
that's gotta be a hoax. or maybe its going to be electric circus gone
crazy or something.
the only 3 day festival i can think of is the world electronic music
festival, but that's in northern ontario not in woodbridge, where Canada's
wonderland is located.
hrm. well, if this thing turns out to be real, keep me posted. i live
about 20 minutes away from canada's wonderland and i'd probably have to see
it to believe it...

Now, given, I was under the influence, but my god, I thought Moby was
AMAZING. I was with a group of about 10 and we perched out not far from
the DJ stand. Everyone in our group thought he did a really good job.
He started off pretty steady, but towards the end (the last 30 or so
minutes) he, IMHO, lit the place on fire.
One of my FAVORITE DJ tricks is to bring things down a tad, tease the
crowd a bit with some ambient undertones, and then slam them with some
deep, hard, driving beats. You know, the stuff Moby is really good at.
And the last 30 minutes or so of his set, he delivered. He leveled me -
while the the majority of the set could have been any GOOD (and I do mean
good, not average) DJ, the closing of his set was all Moby.
Good crowd, too (at least the people in our little area - it was friggin
packed). Its good to see that he hasn't lost his touch with all his more
recent "rock" endeavors.

hello everyone.
my friend told me, that he had seen some moby interview CD, dedicated to the
Everything Is Wrong album in a local radio, here in slovakia.
I'm a kind of new to this list, so i don't know, if this stuff has already
been discussed here. if not, i could try (but understand me, i'm a slovak,
8 years of lazy english study, that will be a real TRYING) to transcribe it,
or somehow to let you know what's it about. btw, i'm not sure if i will be
able to get to the radio and persuade them to lend me the cd.
if i'm obsolete now, i'm sorry for bothering you.

Thanxalot steve. it's great that moby will be on this year's mayday,
after that marvellous act on mayday reformation (which i haven't seen
live, but i have this mayday show on video, though it is a little bit
spoiled copy, so the live performance of voodoo child (as moby acted there)
last for about 40 seconds and my heart got broken when the tape ended
just in the best of it. hope you understand me.
frankly, i'm surprised moby will be on the soundtropolis (mayday '99),
because from the recent development of low-spirit and mayday, i got an
impression they took somehow the other way. well, everythiung changes.
once more thanxalot, though i will definitely NOT be in dortmund,
because it's somehow much for my pocket to visit the mayday. but it
still is one of my dreams.
there's another thing connected to voodoo child appearance on reformation,
but it's not ready now, so i won't leak it.
btw. i wonder how you pronounce my name?

here's the translation of the review on RUN ON,
as it appeared in czech on www.infima.cz/pareniste.
enjoy.

Moby
Moby Young & Funky mix
Dave Clarke mix
extended
The second single from Moby's forthcoming album Play got a name "Run On" and
if you enjoyed the previous one, "Honey", you're going to be satisfied with
this as well. At first glance, Moby seems to copy himself. The same hybrid of
hip-hop rhytm and the same piano presses. After reading this far you won't be
surprised, that the male vocal sounds barely and not-studio-like. But this
time Moby didn't have to go too far with the sampler, he simply borrowed the
whole singing from a song by The Langfordaries, called "Run On For A Long Time."
So we can say the same about Run On as about Honey.
The fans, Moby got during his most impressive dance era, will be probably
disappointed. The others will gladly let themselves hear Run On, but i can
hardly imagine them trying to obtain the older releases of him.
As we got used to, Moby cooperates on his own remixes. His breakbeat Young &
Funky mix is much faster than the original and it's more thrilling too. If
the DJs will play the single, it will be exactly this version. Dave Clark
comes with a slight surprise, he offers something unusual for him, no techno
nor house, but a slow trip hop, similar to the original. It's a pity, because
it was him, who could have supported the single with some essential energy,
eventually to attract club DJs.
I have to admit that Run On is easier to get through than Honey was,
definitely we had enough time to get used to it. Hopefully the album coming
up in may will be about something else.
summary: 6 from 10.

okay im on this list of fans devoted to the show "Sifl & Ollly", and
were putting together a tribute cd, just like we did/are doing on this
here list!
so people are squabbling and squawking about all this "Is this legal?"
crap. since we have experience with this, can someone forward me
something to forward to the list, regarding like what we did with the
moby tribute cds and what to worry about and such?
of course, Sifl & Olly are on MTV, so they get more exposure than Moby
(on TV at least) so were more likely to get into hot water than with
teh Moby cd. thats funny tho, S&O has been on the air like a year or
so, and already their list has 660 people, while Mobys been makin music
like 10 yearss or so and we only have like 200.... i guess its just who
you know...
but S&O didnt get on overnight. Liam Lynch, the shows co-creator,
reportedly phoned MTV for years trying to get the damn thing on the
air...
anyway, we're also mass-mailing socks to MTV to get the show to stay on
the air.
go to <http://www.sockheads.com> and find it somewhere...
if anyone here has never seen S&O, it is the damn funniest show on the
air, i watch it more than the Simpsons. and if anyone here knows me,
that is a fucking endorsement. its on MTV at 7:30 PM weekdays, except
when they pre-empt it, which is all the time. but its on Mon. Tues. and
Wed. this week, so ROCK!
does the movie "GO" have to do with the Moby song?
okay bye now! ROCK!
