Just so you know.......Orbital's "Middle of Nowhere" is due to be released
in the States on June 8th. I already have bought the import, and it is
amazing! And from what I last heard The Orb's new album was pushed back to
September if my memory serves me right.
PS: They (orbital and the orb) also have email lists just like this one that
have a lot of good info and great people!

I felt the same way about Run On in the beginning...but after
listening to it a couple of times it started (I have to quote
Daniel Cerman now...) really to grow on me.
I really like Run On!
I'm fully aware of the fact that it sounds a lot like Honey, but
it has a different mood......can't quite explain that..

Dub + Mad Professor (+Massive Attack) = Cool!
I have this compilation CD called "High Fidelity Dub Sessions"
and listen to it a lot. Did you know that Moby played the bass
in a reggae band once?

yes, dave the wave played Moby on the electro circus
the other night...
he played "Run On" at the beginning of the show, i
taped it, its pretty good but i like "honey" better.
he played "why does my heart feel so bad" the 2nd
hour, i taped that too, i like it a LOT. is that what
its called, or did dave just make that title up? i
have a feeling its titled something else, but he didnt
have the tracklisting or... i dont know.
3rd hour no moby, 4th i was asleep....
oh yeah, last week they played "Honey" on AMP... not
this week tho, but they played an old 808 vs. mc
tunes.... hmmmm........
]
oh yes, on WPKN laast night, one dj played this phat
dub reggae song, and all of a sudden i hear
"AH-OOH-WAH-OOH-WAH-OOH-WAHHHH-WAH-WAH"...or
something..
yes, its the sample from The Orb's "Blue Room"! and it
was originally used in a song by Mad Professor called
"Fast Forward Into Dub", from 1984 or so! cool! then
he played 3 mixes of "Blue Room". well, theres a
musical history lesson for today! did anyone here
actually know that?
okay bye now...

Cool! Moby looks just like a criminal who has his photo taken at the police
station... He looks grim enough for it!

The uncropped photo has more empty space above Moby's head. There's a
reddish colored smudge in the upper left that looks like somebody's
fingerprint after eating some barbeque potato chips. Who knows, maybe
they were buffalo style ruffles...nah. :)

Weird...my friends who told me this got the
word from the distributor. They work at
Let It Be Records and usually are up on
their shit. I'll have to double check.
Sorry for any unnecessary confusion.

Hi all,
I've got Run On playing...I like it! It's very cool, but I have to ask the
question "Where is Moby Heading" musically? Here is what I ask that
question...
As much as we don't care to admidt it, all our fav. artists are in it to
make money and make a living. That is not to say that they are selling out
(that is an entirely differnet topic). I just don't see this song
selling...I don't see the commercial appeal. To be frank, out of this and
Honey, the only version that seemed commercially oriented was the 'Rollo
and Sister Bliss Blunt Mix'.
I just am tying to see where he is heading, any thoughts?

Subject: RE: (mobility) Run On...Where is Moby Heading?
Hey..
I'm new to this list, and a quite big Moby-fan. I have all major Albums
and most of his singles. I've been a fan since around 1994. (Is there a
special way of introducing oneself here? Should I blunder along with age
and all that too?)
I heard Moby on "DanceFM" on P3 this Sunday, then he gave a hint on what
to be expecting from him in the future. He said that he did absolutely
everything on his records by himself (instruments, mixing'n'producing
etc.) and therefore all his records reflected his current state of
mind.
"In the future a wider variety of styles can be expected..." he said,
continuing with "... I understand being a Moby fan might be hard when
you don't know what to expect next ... ".
He said he was to be reconed a dance/techno-artist but that noone should
be supprised if he was releasing a punk or even a classical track. (I
believe he then meant ambient pieces..???)
Judging from the interview I think we can expect NY-house/NY-hip-hop
tunes with some rock and ambient tunes once in a while.
It is also important to note that the house/hip-hop scene also
continously changes. Currently hip-hop and soul influence a lot of the
scene while more deeper stuff is just around the corner.
IMHO I think Moby should've waited 6 months to release his album, maybe
we'd got a more deep-club oriented Moby (but that's only coz I like club
music better than hip hop...)
Commercialism...hmm, he also said "...when y2k comming up I think it's
important to be politically correc...hehe.. aware ..."
So I dont think Moby's gonna go just for the money. It'd of course be
lying to oneself to believe he's only into music to spread his view on
vegetarian life style and environmental issues, of course he is doing
music to make a living (and doing it quite good I've heard).
In the early nineties he was more an idealist than he's now, and I think
more and more of his youth-idealism is fading, but I sincerely believe
he is true to his (IMHO moderated)principles of
anti-drug/smoke/pollution/animal killing/etc...
OK
Thanx for reading

A friend of mine wants his band to perform FACE IT ( off AR) at a

I was in the GAP (of all places!?) and heard HOney. What's up with
that?? I told the cashier in front of me that I was pleased with their
taste in music ;-)
BTW - Has anyone seen the ADDIDAS commercial out now that uses a Moby
track? The track is off of the Honey Single that has two new songs on
it (3 songs total). I forget the name of the song though ... It's cool
to see a commercial with a Moby song.
BTW (again!) - The Fleet Center (where the Boston Celtics & Bruins
play) intro to the Bruins for every pre-game introduction uses MOBY's
James Bond Reversion for the music. Which happens to be quite cool
because it is BLASTED throughout the arena on a pretty damn good sound
system.

BTW...just curious....were they playing the honey single, or was it off
the permanent midnight soundtrack, or was it a cd that the store gave them
to play. I know I might be caring a little too much about this but I'm
just curious as to whether someone bought the single and brought it to
work to play...or if it just happen to be on a cd they were playing.
