i suggested it was wrong to tell the dj you were GOING to tape off the
radio as that would've been counter to his agenda he aims to satisfy.

Okay I just thought I'd step in here and explain the
situation before this escalates into a 'flame war' (often
quoted that, isn't it!?) between U.S.A and U.K. residents!

I think there may be a slight misunderstanding. Clay and I
are always 'taking the piss'(sorry, english slang to all
you yanks!), so it's not meant to be serious - however I
can understand those who might think it's something more
- -it's not! Can you back me up on this Clay, or are you
still pissed because I thought Electronic were mediocre!?

Yeah, I also am not overly keen on Honey - it's okay and

I do apologise if I over-reacted to your e-mail.  It just seemed like
an inappropriate response what was after all a topic generated by
discussion of Moby.  You can see what it might have looked like to
someone who wasn't aware of you and Tim's banter.

(Also it was 1st thing in the morning and I am not a morning person.)
The last thing I want to do is to generate a transatlantic war of
words or anything and it was a knee-jerk reaction on my part to what
I saw as a slightly prejudicial comment.  No hard feelings eh?

Honey is amusing, but just that.  Amusing.
Both of the singles are collecting dust on my CD rack, and the vinyl two
pack is still in its original case.  Never taken out.

Right now Early Underground and Voodoo Child's EOE is getting heavy
rotation in my CD player.  Same with artifakts...  I'm REALLY starting to
like the trak rekall... some of the background noise sorta makes me think
of moby and at the same time the other track on the album, are friends
electrik?  But then that's probably just me.

Oh wait.  This is a MOBY list, not a PLASTIKMAN list.  my bad...

I started this thread on the orbital list, and its sorta interesting...
What's the most you have ever paid for a CD?  I paid (or actually my
parents paid... i got it for christmas from them) $27.99 for EOE.  Umm...
coming in second would probably be PWEI- radio 1 sessions for $26.99.  HMV
is a total ripoff, but they can get some good stuff. what's a gurl to do? I
hate having to wait till I go visit friends down in the states. I want new
music NOW! not over march break. beh.  oh well...

I paid $45.00 for a double CD of the original Broadway cast of "jesus Christ
Superstar"  It was so much because it was 14karat gold plated.  Maybe just
as much gold as in a bottle of goldshlogger, but oh well, I wanted the
music, not the valuable metals inside.  Novelty mostly.

I guess the only thing that would top that would be a 3 CD set import from
Japan, the soundtrack to an Anime called "Nadia of the Mysterious Sea."  In
case you know nothing about this, it will be coming out sometime this year
in the US by ADV, maybe even "briton"

Other than that I usually shop only for bargains or reasonable prices,
seldom do I splurg on music CDs.

it was about $30....my general motto is that if it's more than 20, it better

The most I paid was $30 for the 2CD Come On Baby. I'd been searching for
many months. Among best deals I've gotten was the Mute/Intercord version
of Everything Is Wrong + Underwater for $20. (in 98) The Brian Eno
"Fractal Zoom" single is $5 anywhere in the US, and that's a lot of
music for little dough. Any single that's long in length and high in
quality is a great deal in my book. Occasionally I'll splurge (like w/
COB) but I make up for it by finding good bargains.

You guys are going to cause an identity crisis for me. I'm a natural
born US citizen with mostly British heritage...oh woe is me!!! :)

Paul (dr kill): No flames from me, but do you think Honey might grow on
you? Many people couldn't swallow Animal Rights for a while after it
came out. Somebody even mentioned that hearing the US version of the
album changed his/her mind. Maybe in the context of Play... or do does
it leave you cold? Or do you specifically dislike it? j/c. Anybody else
dislike Honey?

Let's hear from all of you Thanks II music makers! Tell us about the
song you are remixing / covering, and why you chose it. Describe it if
it pleases you to do so. (sing that sentence on an ascending scale and
you may sound like Sound of Music on crack) I heard a cool homemade
"Drug Fits The Face" remix last night and it's boosted my curiosity
about Thanks II.

i agree with killpatient here.  i was kinda shocked at "honey", and
disappointed.  considering it had been a while since he released
anything, i was expecting something big and spectacular.  instead, it
was honey.  granted, it is a change and i have nothing against an artist
experimenting with different tastes, but this one is kinda.. well..
boring.  that's why i'm hoping that this new album that's coming out
will be better than this.  i want something that i can get into... not
something that leaves me going, "huh?!"

and kelbert... yeah!  another ani difranco fan!  i saw her in concert
last october and wasn't disappointed at all.  now, if i can just see
moby in concert, i will be set for life... and, oh yeah, pearl jam.  the
latter has been a promise to myself since the early 90's.

anyways... that's all i can think of for now.

I have done 2 remixes for Thanks2.  "Drug Fits the Face (Epsilon Mix)" and "M
Four (G Eleven Mix)".  DFTF is a speedy one.  It clocks in at about 160 bpm.
The bassline and vocal sample are used from the original.  It is a
pseudo-breakbeat track with some nifty added parts to it.  M Four is just and
expansion on the track found on Early Underground.  As we all know, there is
not much to the original M Four.  My remix is kind of a trip-hoppy/groovy ride.
It is a cool track just to chill out to.  Some high strings and dark bassline
surge in and out along witha chunky beat.

I don't want to give too much away on the 2 tracks, cuz I want everyone to get
Thanks2 to hear them along with everyone else's tracks!

I am interested in hearing what others have to say about their tracks AND
hearing that MORE people are submitting songs to complete the CD!  I know that
Eric's stuff will be nothing short of stellar.

anyone with any sort of deep seated interest in techno and is open
minded should visit the site below and listen to this.  It's a radio
show from CBC 1.  You learn cool stuff and hear about all kinds of music
[and art] related to techno.

Moby content:  at the very end the main essayist uses a snippet of GO!
while wrapping up the dissertations.  :)
