a "real" store don't pay an artist more for his cd than a big club
or wherehouse, tower.
but a record store or club will pay more than a used cd store because
they pay the artist
nothing.
so buying something at a used store is okay
if you're supporting your own need to hear someone's music.
but NEVER say like I SUPPORT MOBY>>>>I HAVE ALL HIS WORK AND I BOUGHT
IT ALL AT MUSIC TRADER!!!!!!!!!!
cause he didn't get a dime.
if i get something by a group i like used and i want to support them
in a future purchase
i go pay full-freight for it>
with new groups this is important.
you figure some of these guys are rich enough
it ain't gon kilt them to buy something used once in awhile
and jezz
like ya gotta have it.
but really...... let's support our artists by buying stuff new once in
awhile
wherever you get it from.

hey everyone,
here is who is doing what for the comp. of course, it's still
early, and this will all probably change. but at least you'll get
an idea what's going on. i'm glad that there are only two people
who decided to do the same song, and one of them will be a
remix and the other a cover. and there are also some great ideas
going on here! i'm pretty excited. ok, enuff blabber...here's what we got:
Xaq
1. Honey (Remix)
2. Dog Heaven (Remix)
Kingmob
1. Everytime You Touch Me (Remix)
2. something from AR....
Andy
1. I Like to Score (Remix)
2. M Four (Remix)
Clay
1. Honest Love (Remix)
Brian
1. Everything is Wrong + Every Time You Touch Me medley (Cover)
Eric

2. Blue Terror of Lawns (Other)
Adam
1. Into the Blue (Cover)
Dr. Killpatient
1. not sure just yet (Cover
Ryu

listed 2 songs are doign more than 1 just in case there is extra
room. the song listed first is their top priority....

A few quick words on the "Modulations" movie. I have not seen it, but
through some simple research at the internet movie database I found the
following:
documentary running for 75 minutes
interviewees: Arthur Baker, Afrika Bambaataa, Carl Cox, Derrick May, Moby,
Robert Moog, Genesis P. Ooridge, DJ Spooky, Karl-Heinz Stockhausen, and
Danny Tenaglia
supposedly it was released the 18th of September, and has grossed over
$110,000 thus far
as far as the fear of Moby being in movies (see joe's apartment), at least
someone of some importance in the film industry - sundance film festival -
nominated the film for the grand jury prize

Hi,
i recently joined the list--hi everyone!!!!!
I have a quick question for you Moby-philes out there---
I am compiling/mastering a live album for Moby which may be released on the
Cleopatra/Hypnotic Record label, or it may just be included in part of a
documentary on raves called "better living through Circuitry" which will
also be distributed through Cleopatra. Moby was interviewed in the
documentary.
I am having a problem placing one of the tracks Moby performed live, I'm
hoping one of you maybe can tell me what track it is. A "thank you" credit
on the sleeve will be in order...
Moby begins with a heavy beat and lots of tribal percussion, and then there
is a repetitive sample of "I can't stop", "I can't stop" and Moby
vocalizing over it.
if it's any help, this is the complete show I was given to work with (maybe
it will refresh someone's memory)--thanks a lot in advance,
Jon M.
Setlist:

James Bond Theme
Punk song (guitar solo)--track ID?

It's not available quite yet, but keep up with the list for
another month or so and the latest news on it's re-release will
undoubtably be discussed- but it's in the works.
Is greg going to handle Thanks 1 as well as Thanks 2?
That may be a bit much. We should have everyone that is going to
want a copy of either/or mail someone to keep track of the
projected pre-orders so there's no surprises come time to burn
cd-rs.

I have been a member of Columbia House for 6 years now, I doubt that a bunch
of junk mail is "harassment" unless you consider tossing a bunch of mail in
your trash a monumental task. They do have very good offers sometimes, like
3 CDs for the price of one, etc. However they do have very limited
selection in that it takes months after the released date to get the CD in
stock. Additionally, the commitment you make witht he initial offer and the
enourmous shipping costs you pay drives the prices up. Last time I thought
about it though, it was still better than going to your local music store
after tax.
>sold through their catologues. Personally I hate these businesses with a

>no money goes back to the artist on these "get 10 cds for a penny" deals.
Where did you get this idea? Columbia House and BMG are distributors! Its
not like they manufacture the CDs and keep all the money for themselves, the
Artist's record company makes the initial sales to BMG and CH, this is where
the artist is compensated. If the artist is getting screwed at any level it
is through his production company like elecktra, Geffen etc. Not only that,
but they really can't get "screwed" if they agree to the terms of a
contract. The shear volume that BMG and CH deal in infact saves the
production companies lots of money. They will usually take huge stocks off
their hands than otherwise wouldn't sell. The production company at least
makes their initial investment back if not a small profit. The artist is
not losing out here because of CH or BMG

MP3s are fine is so far that you may listen to them then, if you like the
music, buy the album, this has been the case many times for me. If you
don't like the MP3s then you delete them after you have listened. You are
being illogical when you claim that mp3ers are the same people who BUY from
CH and BMG. If they purchase the CD then they are still in a sense
supporting the artist.

I don't know where this show came from, but the quality isn't exactly
perfect. I think it was taken from the soundboard but Moby's vocals are
overpowering the music. The music sounds a bit "tinny" actually, I'm not
sure if this show will be released as an album, I think they should opt to
release a different show, just for quality purposes, but this would be fine
for the documentary "Better Living Through CIrcuitry." I'll post details
when it's going to be released! THis thing has been a pain to master.... :o)

The unidentified punk song is 40 seconds in length. (Followed by a
"self-indulgent" guitar solo...)
he talks so fast it's hard to tell what he's saying...here's one of the lines:
"you don't know what do to you...."
"you don't know where my ....i come from..."
The rest is fairly indecipherable.....he introduced it as: "I'm going to be
self-indulgent and play a punk rock song."
Any advice on that one?

The new album is tentatively scheduled for February I believe. I'm sure it
won't be out then though-Downward Spiral took soooooo long to come out, same
with Broken. I suppose it's a good thing though, seeing as how I'll have to
buy the album, the import off of Island, the promo, the domestic vinyl, the
import vinyl, the domestic single, both parts of the UK singles, the
domestic vinyl singles, the import vinyl singles and any promos for the
single. Life is hard ;)
