I don't know about MTV (I never watch it), but M2 plays it every so
often. By the way, isn't there more than one video? I saw one that has
the screen split up into 9 smaller screens with different things going
on in different parts. Another one I saw is a more spy-movie version of
it. I could swear there is at least two different videos.
Speaking of videos, M2 also plays Moby once in a while. I've seen
"TWIRFMR" a few times and "Go" a couple of times, and even "James Bond
Theme". I've also seen Orb's "Blue Room" video, which is pretty
interesting.
As always,

Does anyone know of any site that has lyrics to songs by Moby? There's
a few I just can't quite decipher, and others I can't quite remember.
Thanks,
Bob

hmmm...
i was a little bored, so i added a moby pictures section to my site. i'll
probably add more images to it and add more picture links to it when i get
bored like that again.
the url is:
http://members.tripod.com/~g0Dzinx/index.html
go to music, moby of course, and then click the bottom moving
moby!moby!!moby!!! thing.
as you may see, the sight is in progress.
oh and you might want to maximise your browser.
i sort of made up my mind and have been working on a song for thanks II
(hymn). definately hymn. my version is a remake mostly of Hymn [live @ the
splash club] with a beat and cellolike sounds so far.

Bob, there is no site at this time. I just finished the new links catalog at
moby.org (look for it in about a week) and I found nothing of the sort.
Moby.org has a small section w/ has lyrics for Time's Up (Deep), Whip It
(original Devo lyrics) and Revolver (original Mission of Burma lyrics)
That's another project to be tackled. Right now we're pretty active, so
maybe somebody would like to take this on. Right now we've got a FAQ in the
works, the Thanks 2 tribute, the links catalog, and, err. I don't know what
else. It's a medium sized project, we'd have to do lyrics for AR, ATINITBL
(easy one), Honey (good luck!) and a few b-sides here and there. A group
effort, perhaps? Spit out your opinions on this, peeps.
If you're interested, my review of the Brotherhood 12" is now up in the
Reviews section of moby.org under Time's Up in the main releases section.
http://www.moby.org/reviews/timesup.html
Has anybody heard the Eskimos & Egypt mixes Moby did for "Fall From Grace"?
I'd like to hear your opinions. Haven't heard them myself.

They have Revolver only. .....I don't think the others have ever been
transcribed, apart from Moby's rehearsal pages or whatever. If anybody out
there has some good personal links to add to the catalog, let me know. I've
got (virtually) everything out there except stuff that's in cgi searches,
stuff in databases that are not pages. I can't find any Permanent Midnight
reviews, either. I'll be adding your review of Honey, Steph, if you'll have
it up for a while. And your Moby art, Tom, although I'll probably link
straight to the first Moby art page. There's also one Honey review I lost,
but that shouldn't be too difficult. Remember, I don't need anything that
can be found with any search engine. I also don't need stores selling Moby
stuff. That's a whole other project. Just obscure back corner stuff that
isn't redundant, y'know, original stuff. You might be surprises at how much
repetition there is. There's many sites that sport interviews that are cut
and paste interview compilations, nothing new included. Ok, I'm finished
rambling now.

I read that CMJ would have over 1000 bands/acts, so it might be several
venues.
The closest to any Honey strings I can think of is the underwater sound.
Don't know where exactly I heard it, but I think the original mix has it. I
haven't heard the PM version yet. The original mix doesn't have it during
the whole thing, though.

before ya'll get you hopes up to see moby at CMJ...
CMJ is THE american music industry party. it's 4 nights of speaches,
music, and partying. it costs around $200 for a badge. it takes place
mostly in one hotel, but there are many shows around town at night.
the only interesting artist i've heard of so far is moby and the rest of
the MCT party.

there anybody out there who wants to do some counterpoint reviews with me?
Somebody critical? I like about 90% of what Moby makes, so I'm usually good
for a pro opinion. I need cons. Who out there is closer to 50/50? I think it
would be interesting to do duelling reviews. Write me private.

MODified Music in Salt Lake City has Moby's Mix for Pet Shop Boys on
12" and CD, the Electro Mix of Miserablism on the Was It Worth It? single.
It's an awesome mix. If you like what he did for Jam & Spoon, (which was
very good) this is twice as good. The style is comparable to Slight Return
or Shining but with more energy and less melancholy. They also have a few
common albums, and Honey, both CD imports and the 12", which are priced a
little steeply at $11.99. I think the Pet Shop 12" is the same price. Yeah,
sure is. The PSB CD is 10.95. Be sure to verify that the Miserablism is on
there, it doesn't show track listsings, but I think that there was only one
type of release for this.

Also, we have Siren Disc, in Hollywood, CA, which has the Honey 2x12" pack
for 12.99, which is 1 dollar more than some stores (including the above)
charge for the single 12". Excellent price, considering that it's imported.
This store must not have many customers like me, because they have Analogue
Bubbltebath 4 (Aphex) in the bargain bin, both formats, as well as Chaos AD
(Squarepusher) on 12".

Hey kids,
I got an interesting cd in the mail today: *Eclectica2: a taste of indie
electronica* put out by Christian indie dance label NSoul Records.
Of special note is track 13 "It's Not About the Beats" by DJ darryL,
Minister of Holy Beats, aka our own Darryl Cottier, with extensive sampling
from "The Way We Were" by our very own Ryu. Nifty track. Good sampling of
underground talent from around the world. Not sure when it hits stores. But
check it out if you see it. Support the home team.

I first picked up a copy of I Like To Score knowing nothing of Moby. I =

might have some interesting instrumental pieces, based on the title. =
Mentioning it to a young woman at work, she made mention of Everything =
is Wrong, that it was his best. Since then--about 4 weeks ago, I have =
acquired the above. I just found out about the Everything Is Wrong 2 CD =
remix and will probably get that also, as well as some of the many cd =
singles I see listed in various web pages.
I like Moby very much. Some of his instrumental pieces, especially =
those with piano are reminescent of some of the minimalist work of =
Philip Glass, who I also like very much. I agree with my friend at =
work--Everything Is Wrong is excellent. My favorites are the minimalist =
pieces (Hymn, First Cool Hive, God Moving Over The Face Of The Wasters) =
and the 3 techno/rave/synth pop songs (Feelin' So Real, Everytime You =
Touch Me, Bring Back My Happiness), but the ballads are nice also. =
Presently I am trying to figure out what journey Moby is taking us on =
with the variety on this cd. It starts with the moving "Hymn," then a =
synth/pop piece, a techno/vocal, a short techno chant, two more =
synth/pop pieces, ending the first half with a synthesized blues vocal =
that turns into agressive techno/punk. The last half starts out with =
the moody, soothing "First Cool Hive" followed by a pretty ballad, then =
a minimal/ambient instrumental, a short, almost truncated piano piece, =
the beautiful "God Moving Over The Face Of The Waters" and finishes with =
a ballad that seems to be about surrender. If the cd repeats, we begin =
the cycle again. Is this the journey Moby planned or is this just a =
varied collection of songs. Any ideas ?

Subject: (mobility) Honey on Permanent Midnight
The version on Permanent Midnight is different than the version on the
single in case anyone was still wondering. Like someone mentioned before,
there seems to be the guitar missing but it comes in later on. There are
extra drum beats at the end (like one extra beat that comes in occasionaly)
and an extra vocal that sounds like "come back, come back" but slowed down a
bit. The end just sounds a bit demented now with that sample IMO.
The song also ends on the tangy guitar instead of the vocal but it's not
really noticable.
Overall I'd take the single version over this but it's great to hear a
different version.
