IS having that moby symbol with the firey design a requirement or something?
Howcome all three of the submissions have that same thing, and why have I
never seen it before? Later.

it's not a requirement...it's just his logo.
i guess it's just a common thread for a moby
tribute album....
i've only seen it on animal rites and teh revolver singles.
has it appeared anywhere since then?

as did i, apparently.
anyone who lives in chicagoland who hasn't honey remixes single can get it @
rolling stone next to HIP. i got the (red pmpkn) remixes there yesterday for
$5.99. i was surprised. usually they jack import prices up. there were
three or four left.
SteveG informs me Tower downtown will have both honey singles soon(?).
on yet another note,..
i wish to make a track for Thanks too. odd enough-Mobility(aqua mix) on Rare-
B-sides is what i want to 'recreate' if anything. so i was analysing it and
i'm wondering if anybody knows what the sample is saying (@ approx 1:20).

Wait a minute here. Okay, so I admit that I've deleted more messages than
I've read about "Honey," but I'm curious now. I picked up a copy of Honey
today, which had the Rolla/Bliss Mix, some other mix (I can't remember
the name right now), and a Low End Mix by Moby himself. Are there other
"Honey" singles out there? I believe there's the one with the two other
new tracks on it, but is there another remix one? I'm just curious...if
so, it's time to pester my friendly neighborhood record store.
Oh, and for the record...I dig the Rolla/Bliss mix. In fact, I'm happy
with the whole single, actually...

All right. There's two CD singles. One has "Honey" and two new songs,
"Micronesia" and "Memory Gospel". Then there's the remix CD single w/
LowSide, R&SB, etc.
There's three different vinyl releases. There's one that was released
commercially, which has the Rollo & Sister Bliss Mix, which is different
from the CD one if I understand correctly, plus the Sweet Honey Mix from
Sharam Jey, and Moby's Low Side mix, which is the least entertaining of all
the Moby mixes, IMO. Then there were two promo only 12" releases. Somebody
sent a note to mobility near the end of August or around there saying these
two would be released as a double pack 12" in September. I never heard more
about that so I assume it's a hoax. My reviews for these two are in the
archives at moby.org 8/21 and 8/26. They're fairly descriptive. They
hopefully will put out an Australian CD with some of these mixes.
The tribal logo is a cover submission from me. I've given permission for
anybody to use it for Thanks 2 submissions.
I'm assuming this NYC concert is a one-shot benefit and that there's no tour
type news now. Boo hoo.

I've thought about that myself and I must say it is possible but the way
he said it made it sound very convincing, believe me. Another option is
that he did it for "Pop TV" because they wanted to show a fairly new
video at that time, he had previously selected some older videos, but
again, I must say, it's unlikely. One must also consider that "Pop TV"
has a fairly young audience and would probably not be able to understand
that as a joke.

Yeah. It's like getting a tune stuck in your head, but in my case it's 2
songs playing simultaneously. A punk song's lyrics over a industrial-metal
song's guitar riffs, for example. I've listened to too many DJ mixes and
it's seeped into my brain.

Well, they *are* listed in the discog -- that's why I just mentioned the

live punk songs from AR. I could mp3 them if someone wants to host them.

as if to make room for others
moby's honey cd single and remix cd
are neither a step forward nor backwards
but kind of sideways.......
sort of>>>>>
without a doubt
he has created a very vibrant and alive mix of simple piano laden
funkiness which is neither funk nor techno but a hybrid funky techno
noise mash
that delights as it annoys.
and for one such as moby
being just a tad annoying is simply part of the fun.
and fun it is.
micronesia and memory gospel spell excursions into drum and bass
and ambient dreamscape with lush vocal bit
without truly challenging or
needing to blow your mind.
it is as if moby has outgrown the need to constantly turn your head
with a new pose, stance, or attitude.
he knows we know that he is a bald, sometimes naked,
jesus follower, vegan, and politically outspoken
spice fan.
so what's the point of trying to create something like a new music form
or
statement which rings of controversy (?)
because....after all......hasn't he, almost more than anyone of the last
10 years....
already done that?
so what we have is moby simply making music.
it is music which pleases and music which
sustains itself upon repeated listenings.
it is not the end of anything nor really the start.
it is moby living life
and enjoying it...... possibly......
and that's good enough for me.
clay
guess what?
i got the honey mixes today finally!

Hmm, that reminds me of a Robert Smith interview (ABOUT
10 YEARS AGO) on some French TV programme aimed at younger
kids. He completely freaked out the interviewer - it was
hilarious, but then he is known as mad Bob!
