yeah, i still wonder what his deal with the spice girls is...
maybe he's just in love with them commercial or not-
but he's never going to convince me to like them,
I think they suck big commercial hairy donkey balls
(no offense to any donkeys out there)

Oh wait. Did I say that out loud?
(Well actually I can deal with them. I just hate how all these elementary
school students dress like them. last summer my campers drove me nuts
listening to spice girls crap err music all day. that's enough to make
anyone bitter. if listening to the spice girls makes you happy, good for
you. i'm happy. just dont make me listen to wannabe ever again or else
i'll snap and go postal. if moby ever does a spice girl cover i think i'll
dust off my old new kids on the block tapes and live the rest of my life in

You know, you are so right here...don't take my comments on the
spice girls being commercial the wrong way- I can appreciate what
you are saying here and find this true of many groups that I don't
like but can analyze and understand why others like them and what
their talents are even if I don't like the music myself.
The fact that the spice girls normally appeal to pre-teens of
ages 9-12 or so should clue you in to something though, the
music/image/content is very very shallow and transparent to
mature listeners as being something obviously put together with
mass marketing and commercialism in mind.
I think maybe Moby is such a deep and serious guy, that he likes
this music because it takes him somewhere else to forget about
the heavy stuff and just have fun for a bit.
The same way most people use drugs...

I've still never had the pleasure of hearing this release,
but I'm very farmiliar with Pomme Fritz so I will keep this
in mind for when I do finally get to hear "Sim 1"

I can't believe you mentioned this because I've got a great one!
Get out your Animal Rights CDs now and try this:
Try singing the melody and lyrics to "Lightning Crashes" by Live
along with Moby's "Living" (one of my favorites)
They fit together perfectly (actually knda uncanny it wroks so well)
Try listening to Lightning Crashes first or just get the melody
going in your head and then put on Living and see what happens...

There's been debate on these words in my neck of the woods too. I vote for
"movin' cuz the crowd says so!" but there is at least one fool out there
who believes the words are "movin' to the classics" or something very wrong
like that.
I stick with "the crowd says so"

ok, i didn't want to say anything about this just yet...i didn't want to
say anythign until it was completed. but there have been too many
people upset over the restrictions on thanks 1 lately, that it's only fair
to andy and the rest of the list to let the cat out of the bag rite
now.
ANDY AND I WERE PLANNING TO RE-RELEASE THANKS 1 IN
ANOTHER LIMITED QUANTITY THIS MONTH.
it will have all the same tracks as the original did, but the artwork will be
different, and it will be titled "thanks version 1.1". the artwork will be
very simple, and all of the personal "thank yous" from teh inside will not
be present on this release.
and it will be limited to 20 copies. yes, 20 copies...you read correctly.
this is mainly to help out those newcummers to the list who want it
and don't have it. each copy will be numbered like them fancy plates
they used to try to sell on tv...so it's like a collectors item i
guess.....sorta.
NOW I DON'T WANT A 10000000000 EMAILS OF PEOPLE TRYING TO
GET IN LINE TO RECIEVE A COPY JUST YET.
one of the reasons i was waiting to tell you all this is that i wanted it
completed and ready to go before i started taking orders for it. so feel
free to write to me to talk about it or to the list, but i can't reserve
any copies for anyone just yet.
hopefully, the thing will be done in the next week or so, and then i'll
let the list know and you all can reserve your copies.
oh yeah, it will cost $5 including shipping.
i think that's about it.
any questions or comments, feel free to ask.
hope this helps some of you out,
ryu

sarah,
i've always felt the same and not that i really HAVE to have
my own copy
and all that
but it just seems that OWNERSHIP once again IS the issue
(as it always is within THE INDUSTRY)....isn't it?
in this case it is just a more highly select and personal
agenda that drives the reasoning here.
we've heard it all before.....
neverthelesssssss
it is once again an attempt at CONTROLLING INFORMATION
and the form that it takes.
oh....... you can have it on cassette but not on cd.
anyway...once again
this question doesn't seem to want to go away.
i think it's funny that one would prefer to be responsible
for work that most people would say
nope....never heard of that
instead of yeah......i heard that....that's a really really cool cd!
it just must be way too cool for the rest of the world.
i get it.
i was a punk before you were a punk.
but i doubt it.

heres a moby idea:
how bout we compile a bank of questions to ask moby, just in case one
of us interviews him?
thats a good idea, huh?
btw, theres yet another ryu out there. he's a rapper in a band called
Styles Of Beyond. the cd is called 2000 fold and its on some indy
label. the other rapper's name is Takbir or something. i think there
from cali. there albums supposed to be good.
btw again, i saw EBN live last week. fucking awesome.
this may be old news, but if you can, see them, they rock.
i also saw dj spooky that same night (couldnt stay long, had school
the next night....DAMMIT!!!)
hes pretty interesting live....he has like a 5 or 6 piece band,
including him. theres a DRUMMER, plus ANOTHER DJ, and like a guitar
guy and an MC and stuff. plus, he plays an UPRIGHT BASS AND MCs, in
addition to his trademark turntabling. pretty fucking cool. too bad i
had to go.
okay bye. oh yeh, um i'm gonna be on 89.5 WPKN again tomorrow, 11:30
AM-12:30 PM or so, it should be a blast, and this time hopefully my
bud sebastian will be there.........
