Buying leather shoes that might last a lifetime is better
than buying meat more than once a week.
Life and freedom from cruelty is probably more important
then the pollution caused by driving a car. It's impossible
to be perfect, but to give up and say 'fuck it, I'll do
whatever I want because everything is wrong' can't be right!

I can kind of understand where you're coming from, because
I wouldn't object to eating 'organic meat'(if I had to), I
was sure belonged to an animal that was given a good life
and a painless death. Fish is a bit more of a sticky issue
for me. I don't eat tuna because I can't be sure there's
bits of dolphin in there as well! I must be honest and say
I value the life of mammals (especially intelligent,
emotional animals like dolphins) above other animals such
as fish, but still I don't like to eat them and be
responsible for their death, when I don't have to eat them
to live. My philosophy is eat to live, not live to eat!
There's also a problem with over-fishing in many parts of
the world and no one seems to be doing anything about it,
so I don't like to contribute to this.
I believe in God and his love and compassion for all
living things and respect certain Christians I know, but
the ones that really get on my tits are the ones that
preach love and compassion and then think it's okay to go
out abusing animals. Surely that is one root of evil. I
believe, like Francis of Assissi, that if you show
compassion to God's creatures, it's likely you'll show
compassion to your fellow human beings.

there's my ftp info-
not much Honey stuff up there yet-
just a few unreleased versions in the low-quality section...
We are trying to compile a collection of rare, live, b-side,
remix, and other non-album Moby tracks...if you have anything
to contribute please let me know!
Have fun brosing some of the other sections on the FTP too,
there's lots of live Underworld stuff and the lastest Autechre album
just to mention a few...

If you could, please delete this from the mobility archive,
this message was not meant to go to the whole list...
but now you all have read it anyway- email me privately
to discuss anything else please.
This site info was not meant to be public, but I would like to
hear from more list members about thier ideas on this collection
of rare material and what you think of it.
Sorry for the private post going to the whole list!

You can't go halfway. If you are a
vegetarian with leather boots or wallet or anything along those lines, that is
pure hipocracy.
you bring up a point that i hear very often with respect to being vegetarian.
obviously being able to live without using any animal products is the ideal
situation, but how many people ever get to reach an ideal state of anything in
their lifetimes? very few i think. ideals are what you strive towards and
thinking that you won't ever get there is no reason to not try at all. i'd
hate to think that anyone who understood the rational behind animal-friendly
living wouldn't bother to do anything about it because they couldn't be
perfect at it. a little compassion is better than none. it's about evolution
and that doesn't happen everynight. peace.
ps- most of the people i know with pets rescue them from animal shelters where
they'd otherwise be put to sleep, not puppy mills/catteries.

Actually the spice girls comment I made was sorta tongue in cheek. I know
Moby is a spice girls fan. I went and heard him do a talk for Canadian
Music Week here in Toronto and he mentioned something about them. They're
not THAT bad, but still they really irk me. So do their fans. Little 11
year olds should not be running around dressed like glorified hookers. but
that's just my opinion. They whole teeny bopper mentality is pretty sad.
"I'm going to be an individual just like everyone else". eek! Nevermind.
I'll shut up about all this now.
On a side note if anyone is up for some good reading on veganism, check out
"VEGAN: the new ethics of eating" by Erik Marcus. Very informative.
Now, on to something that actually has to do with Moby. I finally rented a
copy of Joe's Apartment to see Moby's cameo. What the heck was he
thinking??? Such a BAAAAAD movie. Does anyone know who convinced him to
do the cameo? Anything behind his appearance or was it just cause it
seemed like a cool idea at the time? Anyone? I'm just curious... I'm sure
you guys have talked about this before. But dont mind me... I'm new!
