I'm up for it, I think. As soon as I clear up some harddrive space, I'm
going to finally attempt that Oil 1+2=3 edit from I Like to Score and the
Outtakes cassette. And I just took the tape Oil 2 is on to my friend's
studio across town. Now I have to go get it again. Or maybe I can just do
the edit over there on Randy's better equiptment for $20 an hour. On second
thought, maybe I better just go pick up the tape.

I'd volunteer a track. The Benny Hinn Experience would be honored to cover
a Moby track. :-)

WHAT? I reposted the address for Replay records but when I ordered over 2
weeks ago they said that they were out of the 1st CD and it would take a few
days to restock. I still haven't recieved anything!!! Anyway, how much did
you end up paying? I calculated that it was less than 11 dollars (US) for
both CDs and shipping. What's up with my order?

Wow, that's a really impressive list, Keith! There's a lot on there
that I don't have. Please tell us about this EIW Interview. Is it
on CD? If so, I'd appreciate any & all information you can give
about it for use in the discography, such as its catalog number,
track list (questions), etc. I've been wondering for a long time
whether there was an EIW interview disc (I have the AR Interview).

I know what you mean. I'm still trying to give up smoking
ciggies (cannibis is even harder, but I don't smoke that
very much anymore - it would be great to get it in tablet
form though), but I'm slowly getting there I think!? I
found it much easier to give up eating meat than smoking,
but that's me! I think I've got a pretty good diet of fresh
fruit and veg. and all the other wonderful new veggie meat
substitutes (normally made out of soya, tofu or 'Quorn'
mycoprotein) availbale now and feel so much better,
especially now I've combined it with more exercise. I know
it doesn't sound very appealing to those who are avid
meat-eaters, but it can and does work for many. Sometimes
it takes just a little more imagination when you cook or
buy whatever food wherever. I hope this didn't sound too
critical or self-righteous!?

Not eating meat doesn't mean you can't be a body-builder.
There are alternative sources of protein. They had a
debate on TV last year about vegetarianism, etc and
brought on two body-builders - both were roughly the same
size and one was a strict vegetarian. It is harder to get
alternative sources of protein because humans (in the West
anyway) have geared their lives around animal products, but
it is possible.
If it isn't, then you've got to rationalise and think which
is more important - how you look or how the animals you eat
suffer? It sounds a bit of a cliche I know, but it's true.
I mean we in the West especially, have no excuse. We've got
plenty of food while others are starving. They're the ones
who need our meat - we don't really need it at all. In
certain parts of the world they have to eat meat to survive
and no one should deny them that. But the west has a choice
and why choose unnecessary suffering to other beings that
feel pain and emotions when we don't have to!?
Anyway, it makes far more sense if most of the world was
vegetarian, because it means less global pollution, less
unnatural ways of producing meat and the accompanying
diseases associated with intensive livestock production,
more land, more people who are starving will be fed and
less suffering and pain all-round really.
Right I'll shut-up now!

Hey dude! Your entitled to your views. I don't want to piss
you off or anything, but why can't we just try to have a
logical conversation about something that's quite important
- - even more important than discussing Ken Starr! I mean so
what if people disagree with you - does that mean we should
run away from the issue in a tantrum and not face it (that
Moby song springs to mind! Wow I managed to get
down something Moby related!)!?
Anyhow, this discussion is Moby related - regarding his
philosophies on life and how we relate to each other and
other living beings and everything.
I know I'm no saint and I piss people off like everyone
does at some time in their lives, but as long as we don't
take it too personally, learn from our mistakes and not
give up. Alright I must stop preaching now!

i was a vegetarian long before i heard moby, but his views definitely were one
of the things that impressed me about him. a lot of people say it isn't a
musician's place to get all ethical/political and that they should just stick
to making music. that seems like a really shallow point of view. we are all
responsible for how we lead our lives and recognizing the impact that has on
the world around us. more power to moby for standing up for his beliefs. i
made the transition to vegan a few months ago, mostly because of my brother
and because i could no longer justify not being one. reading moby's essays and
liner notes now gives me support in this choice and in general i feel so much
better about myself living this lifestyle. there's my 2 cents. while i'd love
to hear more opinions on the subject, let's not let it degenerate into mission
of conversion. what you eat is a personal choice and veggies who attack
nonveggies give us a bad name. it's all about the process anyways, maybe
something one of us says today will manifest later in someone's life. :>

Agreed about the 'mission conversion' bit. I hope that
wasn't what I was perceived to be doing!? I'm all for
people's free will to choose, but that shouldn't stop
anyone from expressing the reasons for and against anything.
Anyway Steve, thanks for bringing up the topic - I
certainly appreciated it!
Just to keep my conscience clear, apologies to anyone who
thought I was being too preachy, self-opinionated and
typed too much, but I don't regret it.

P.S. Just to be extra creepy and cover my previous written
onslaughts - sorry to Paul and anyone else who were
insulted by my views on REM (I liked the early stuff
though!)- who may have taken it personally. I mean it's
nice if people are happy and shiny and sure, everybody
hurts and we should care about people that do, but for some
reason those songs just grate on me.

I've tried becoming a vegetarian, too, but that didn't last too long.
It's a wonderful idea and I've tried it, but didn't have the power to
will my way away from meat. I don't smoke or drink, so I don't have any
other habits to kick. I might try to quit again, but it's highly
unlikely I can quit eating meat. I love animals and agree with
everything Moby says, but I just don't think I'll ever be able to do it.
Keeping on-topic, I don't know if Moby himself has always been a
vegetarian or not. If not, I'd sure like to know how he kicked the
habit. I know Morrissey, who is also a vegetarian, said once that he
didn't think he's ever eaten meat. Still, it's a lot more difficult to
do than I thought before trying it.
As always,
