I'm the new kid-don't beat me up!
I was told to kindly pass on some info about myself, so-------------------
1 My name is morgan wilson(my dads name is the e-mail adress)
2 I have survived 19 winters
3 I only have the basic Moby cds (no moby vinyl or rare stuff because I get
into all forms of audio delight and can't waste all my time, money, etc. on
one artist even if he is my favorite!)
4I first heard moby by taking a shot in the dark- I was reading hightimes
and they reviewed the *new* album "everything is wrong". It wasn't too
flattering, but they made it sound interesting so I ordered
it.BOOM!!!!!!!!!- changed my whole life forever! I became a electronic
music enthusiast overnight, became a vegetarian and pacifist(for real!),
and started to make my own electronic music. I'm sure lots of you have had
similar experiences because moby just seems to have that effect.
5 other music i like------ everyone (I know its hard to believe, but i can
identify with every artist who puts real feeling into their music.)
Examples that might make you sick and lose respect for me--
1 I like death
metal(entombed-old stuff only)
2 i can dig on country(not the new popular garbage, the old
stuff-real country)
3 I love Plastikman and DJ Apollo even though people tell me they have no
soul etc.
4i really get into some punk(sicko, screeching weasel, misfits(old),
ramones, pennywise)
5 reggae is what i have picked to be my unofficial uplifting musical choice
6 my official uplifting music being HAPPY
HARDCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
6-other info- I live in duluth(big up ta XAQ), I work at kenwood subway, I
worked for fourteen hours yesterday(9-12-98) after going to class from
8-11(try it sometime), I make electronic music of all varieties, will be
releasing around 6-8 full length cds this year(i've been writing for almost
2.5 years w/out releasing any!), I'm going to be world famous, and I've
been a vegetarian for 1.5 years, and I hate hate hate hate hate hate the
word electronica! do not use this word around me-even as a joke- it is a
word produced by the media to make our lovely scene into another pat grunge
fad. I also hate hate hate hate the word techno! Don't use this word around
me-even in jest-it is a kind of music that was created in germany using
only synthesizerz and distortion. I like it- but it does not pertain to
any form of music peole are using it to describe! I like to think alot, and
I don't care what anyone else says- I'm going to continue thinking.
the kind of music I make are:
1 old-skool type early rave music(like zoo-rave)-ps-THIS IS TECHNO-type
stuff
2 All forms of house music
3 dub, jungle, drum 'n' bass
4 minimal beat(plateau, plastikman, DJ apollo)
5 Maxibeat(my own creation which is similar to minimal beat, but uses as
many sounds as you fit in while still retaining structure and form.
6 trance, desertrance, HARD TRANCE(thomas elers is my fav),gabber
7 HAPPY HARDCORE( I'm really disappointed in the amount of people who get
into this:(

Cool. I can't stand that word either. I love it when I tell people what kind
of music I listen to, and they are like, electronica? I love that stuf like
Prodigy and the Chemical Brothers and Fat Boy Slim. That is usually the last
time I talk to them. Later.

i've got 2 d&b versions. which one do you have? so far, i have 14 remixes
of "honey."
i'm still looking for 2 others and the two other new moby songs. anyone
have any info on them?

i assume the other new moby songs you mentioned are "Micronesia" and "Memory
Gospel"? theyre on 'Honey Pt. 1', which i recently ordered from CDNow for
about $10--i probably overpayed...but theyre both good songs and well worth
it, IMO.
i havent been reading much of this list lately, so i really dont want to write
a long post which has no real purpose, but i think i will. if people have
already described the other 2 tracks, please ignore the rest of this...
Micronesia is somewhat chaotic, focusing on the sounds of a snare and a bass
drum--with some nifty ambient sounds thrown in...
and memory gospel is sort-of the inverse. it seems mostly ambient, with drums
thrown in the background. the female vocal is very nice in that song, isnt
it? the piano is very nice too. the entire song is very nice...
damn,....where did i put my thesaurus...
of the two, i favour 'memory gospel'. i dont really know why...i just like
it.

I've lucked into a collection of rare and OP Moby songs and mixes, so I've
been overdosing on tunes I haven't heard before. And after a little
listening, I have to say, MY GOD, the "Contentious Mix" of I Feel It is a
beautiful piece of music. Why is Moby's best work always the remixes and
songs you can't find anywhere?!

bit disappointed.. some members have been quite
positive about it but the song is just okay, it never
seems to get going.. some of the mixes are better but
for the first time i'm a bit hesitant about the new
full album.. the two b-sides mincronesia and memory
gospel or whatever sound like pretty generic moby. a
friend of mine thought they were on EIW. nothing new
here..
i'll listen to them twenty more times or so, maybe
they'll grow on me.. animal rights did..

I know I've been quite positive about the single HONEY but I do admit I
experienced mixed emotions in listening to the song... especially for
the first time. I didn't expect to hear what I did. The press and
others have described the song as being in the hip-hop vein of things
but I don't really agree with that. I'd probably say Honey has a
big-beat feel with a steady dose of funk. And I like whoever described
the song as having a honky-tonk feel. :)
The B-sides are a nice plus but they don't move me. Fortunately, and as
it should be, it's the song itself and its remixes that I look forward
to hearing in the player.
So here's something exciting that I saw just a few minutes ago, it's
some release info that seems to have come from nowhere. I'll be getting
the CD (not for another 3 weeks) & then likely the 12". If I get exact
info for the discog and such I'll pass it on. Cheers!

I'm not saying this out of childish retaliation, just
because you failed to appreciate the brilliance of U2
(well, their early stuff anyway!), but Michael Stipe!? I'm
sorry, but 'Shiny happy people' and 'Everyone hurts' just
makes me want to chuck....I hope Moby never collabs. with
him! Sorry if I offended anyone else who likes REM (okay,
I like one or two tunes, but as a rule they're tired as
far as I'm concerned), but I think it's good to say what
you really think sometimes (of course, as long as it
doesn't create WW3 or anything!?).

Welcome! It's nice to see a bright colorful person here. Diversity is
musical taste will gain you applause among us, not criticism. I like
Plastikman too, but he only sounds good when you listen w/ headphones or a
killer stereo. Lots of subtle details, you know? Techno techno tehcno. It's
only a word! It means different things to different people. Rocks and rolls,
how did that come about? It just did. Look at what the person is saying, not
how they're saying it. Glad to have ya here!

On another subject, I was just wondering what everyone has to say about
their favorite old-skool moby tracks.(i can't pick just one)
Here are some of mine in no particular order:
1Next is the E(club mix)------------ok THIS one is my favorite song in the
whole world and if people had to choose one song to represent them this
would be mine.(the rest are in no particular order)
2 drug fits the face(original)- there's something(besides the title)
not-quite-right about the drug-free mix.
3 protect write-what can i say?-either you love it, or you REALLY love
it(or both)
4 go(amphetamix)-this one gets alot less attention than it
deserves-probably 'cause it's the last track.
5 besame-I was really surprised to hear a moby song like this! way before
my time.
- -------interesting story--------i saw a copy of the Brainstorm 12" at a
used bookstore(?)
in Michigan, but at the time I had only heard "everything is wrong", I
didn't have turntables, and i had no idea how rare it was. The price was
four dollars! What i wouldn't

Older stuff that I like lots...hmmmm.
First of all, I applaud your choices on Besame & Amphetamix. They are quite
tasty. Voodoo Child (original mix), which I just got recently, kicks it. I
can't leave out the song that got me into Moby, which is Mobility (Aqua
Mix). Slight Return always takes me away. And Party Time always fixes me up
good. C3 Bells is super-pleasant.
Aside from the original Honey and comparable mixes, my current favorite is
the Dark mix. When I hear this I imagine myself in a racecar driving really
fast through a yellow/orange lighted tunnel. Yeah.
Regarding the d'n'b version, Bammer's, I think it suckss To me they're just
generic bass drones w/ Honey vocal drops here & there. I don't like most
d'n'b, so maybe I'm just backwards. For non-Moby mixes I like RJ's, which is
kinda triphoppy bigbeatish, and Westbam's, which is a party.

This may be THE song that got me into Moby. At the time I also
was hearing "Go (Woodtick Mix)" and a snippet of "Go (Rainforest
Mix)" and they also really helped. So did "Move (You Make Me
Feel So Good)" -- the FULL VERSION, not the crap radio edit they
put on the CD. Anyways, "Next Is The E (I Feel It)" made a big
impression on me. I loved it, and still do. Instinct's so-called
"Club Mix" of it is actually "Next Is The E (I Feel It)" with a
fade-out at the very end. Argh, I hate fade-outs. Get the single.
"Next Is The E (Victory Mix)" is great too.
"Peace Head" is a track from _Early Underground_ that I love.
I'd trade 10 Honeys for more music like that from Moby.
Another EU track I really like is "Mobility", which this list was
named after. It makes me picture a semi-surreal scene of cruising
above the ground through a big city just after it rained. :) The
Aqua Mix is a wonderful remix, too.
> 2 drug fits the face(original)- there's something(besides the title)
> not-quite-right about the drug-free mix.
Maybe part of it is that you have only about 2/3 of the mix.
Instinct went edit-crazy and faded out this and several other
_Rare_ tracks early. Shame on them. I like the original DFTF
better, though.
> 3 protect write-what can i say?-either you love it, or you REALLY love
> it(or both)
I love it. :) That cymbal loop or whatever took up residence in
my brain and never let go.
> 4 go(amphetamix)-this one gets alot less attention than it
> deserves-probably 'cause it's the last track.
I like it too, but I think I heard that this mix was done by
somebody other than Moby. Whoever it was, he's not credited
anywhere. "Go (Rainforest Mix)" is a techno -- excuse me --
classic.
I never hear anyone say anything about "Everything". It's one
of my favorite old Moby tracks. I even modeled a song of my own
after it. It's great having all this electronic noise build
tension and then have the piano breaks.
And though this was mentioned a couple months ago, I love "Slight
Return". Which reminds me of _Ambient_. I really like several
tracks from that album.
> 5 besame-I was really surprised to hear a moby song like this! way before
> my time.
I enjoy it, and it makes a good intro to EU. If only it were
longer... Anyways, Moby doesn't consider any Instinct albums
to be official, because he didn't get any/enough input on
them. Thus, he considers EIW his "debut" album. Boosheeit. ;]
If you want to hear good techno -- ouch! sorry! what should i
call it? -- music, grab all the old Instinct Moby albums and
singles. They are, on average, wonderful, imho.
- ----story of my own:
My friend and I were driving through the city a few years ago,
and I was trying to turn him on to Moby. We had Moby's self-
titled album in the tape deck, and were part-way through
"Electricity" when he started looking around nervously, unable
to locate the source of the police siren he thought he heard.
It was actually the music! :)

Also can it be found on CD? I've looked for it before on the discography =
