Great.. I've been browsing a bit the newer (!) and it looks more like
a collection of data about Moby, than what we (?) mean when referring to
a FAQ. The info it it is good, though. :)
Thanks for your effort, Daniel.

Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!
U2????
I admit...
i'd rather listen to U2 over like country music, some latin music, and Elvis
amongst a few. i'm sure Moby would come up with sanm good remixes of U2 and
BT. i like BT. i wouldn't buy Moby remixes of U2 unless they blew my mind
away. i'm sure it could happen.
what would i like to see remixed by Moby???
i should say Portishead. it would be very nice to maybe hear those basslines
and drumbeats with more layers. and that voice... i could go on and onnnn
with suggestions and ideas. i'd like to know who Moby would want to remix.
and i can't imagine what remixes of meat beat manifesto would sound like.
<<PAUL:--i could imagine moby and dangers>>
Meat Beat's Dangers? if so...
i would like to, but can't imagine the sound that would come off. i was
debating Moby/Meat Beat. i don't recall ever hearing moby using a beat or
sound comperable to Meat's. i just don't see it-as much as i would love to.
their styles just seem so different. not to mention beleifs. i could on the
other hand more easily imagine meet beat reworkin moby material.

Yes, U2! Moby and U2 keep morphing. Moby is swinging on a pendulum between
dance & rock, and U2 keep reinventing themselves without becoming someone
else. Pretty amazing, I think. And Moby isn't treading the same ground,
either. I've never heard anything like Honey, let alone imagining such
elements could actually work well together... the possibilities are endless.
(and possibly frightening)
>>not to mention beleifs. i could on the

I know Jack's a veggie. What beleifs differ between them? just curious, I
guess. I know Dangers does the sex/religion blending thing. I can imagine
MBM doing Moby mixes, but not the other way around, just like you. That
would be fun.

Since I share the same birthday as the man himself, I got to thinking,
where does Moby hang these days? I missed the period you could find him
on the net, in newsgroups, etc. Didn't get into raving until after he
started cutting out of that scene....always a step behind.
So we have all these cool suggestions, but does he ever cruise these
lists? Does he have an e-mail address, or can you write him, does he read
his mail, etc.? Anyone know?
And, um, happy birthday Moby!

I think Moby's e-mail adres is: tlims@phantom.com. I do not know if it's the
good adress (I never tried it).
But if Moby's reading this, happy birthday Moby!

Moby canceled that account in March 1995, when he went on his EIW tour.
If he has opened a new email account, then he has been extremely quiet
about it and we should respect his privacy. But my guess is that he
doesn't have a regular account online, because he has emailed people
from various places where he happens to be. I received an email from
him when he was in Milan, after the shooting of the James Bond Theme
music video. He was using the email address of somebody that happened
to be there. So I think that if he were online, we'd know about it,
and he would probably post some messages on Mobility, which he knows
about.
If you would like to write to Moby, you may contact him via his North
American management at [I think this address is still correct]:
Moby c/o MCT Management
333 W 52nd Street #1003
New York, NY 10019
Moby reads all his fan mail, and has been known to write back. :)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOBY!

Subject: (mobility) Sorry to the nobility of mobility, the outline
Sorry everyone, I was about to make an outline to get the FAQ started when I
thought it would be a good time to do some cleaning, and I cleaned my
keyboard. I thought I accidentally deleted it until it showed up in my box.
Again, sorry for the blank round.
Due to the firewall I can't get into the archives from the front door.
(don't know exactly why) I have to link thru from the reviews section and
manually change my URL line to look around. Because of this I can't use the
moby.org search either. Jonathan, can you run a search for "interview" &
for "link"? We should selectively use info from interviews.
I think this should be the final thread on this to mobility for suggestions.
After this msg's responses we should have all the suggestions we're going to
get. We'll let everyone know when a beta is ready for suggestions. I think
the gaps will show up more clearly once we've got the beta.
Here's that outline w/ ideas for source info, Jonathan. For editing toss it
along to me in bits & pieces or once you're finished, your choice. Make
changes to the outline as you see fit. The retrospective referred to below
will soon be available on-line. It isn't yet. If needed I'll supply it to
you directly. There is so much info at moby.org, and I don't think we should
repeat it, but link to it as a sort of background so the faq doesn't grow
really huge.
I know that I may need to be careful not to include opinipons, only fact.
Should we mention that the non-edited versions of these songs are better? Or
should we just mention the fact that they are edited? I'm sure several
instances will come up where such information may be useful, however it
would also be biased. We really need feedback from you (the
readers/users/testers) on this.
History
1.born & raised, how he got here
.1.early personal history (refer to discogs new & old, various
interviews.)
.2.early musical history (same)
2.moby on instinct
.1. early releases, brotherhood, pseudonyms (refer/link to discog,
retrospective)
.2. first techno star, rise to fame, split from Instinct.
.3. later releases w/o moby's involvement, song edits
3.moby on elektra/mute
.1.releases 93 to present. (perhaps a narrative on his musical
progression?)
.2.split due to ???promotion problems??? (we need info)
The Man Himself
4.moby in the press (interviews, reviews, fan opinion)
.1.Moby's beleifs, other stuff, quotes
.a.veganism
.b.essays (cultural conservatism, animal rights, etc.)
.c.random info (favorite things, humor, posing nude, GNR
production offer, etc.)
.d.dance vs. punk, etc.
.2.what _they_ think
.a.techno's first star
.b.Move
.c.EIW hubbub & awards
.d. AR controversy
.e. online review links? (here or elsewhere in the faq?)
5.moby live
.1.link to various reviews in the archive.
.2.brief narrative on the live vs. DAT issue (no opinion just
background, link to thread at m.o)
.3.random info (recently he's done about 20% guitar, 80% techno,
etc.)
.4.live only songs, moby says "love" a lot, other personality things
6.release retrospective (where in the faq should we put this? I'd like to
write this part w/ help from D)
.1.us vs. euro/uk releases, rare b-sides, rumors
Other
7. (you fill in this blank)
- ----------------
Tell me what I forgot, everyone. After that Jonathan and myself will get to
work. I'm afraid if I wrote it it would be way too long even w/o tha
background info we'll link to. It probably will be anyway. I aim for
perfection.

A lot of matches appear when searching the list for interview or link, but
then, I cant get to the pages... It says something about proxy or so, but
I dont think it's my proxy/firewall the responsible...

Aha... at least for beta versions. A FAQ is that, a FAQ, and not a whole
file with all possible information (dont you think?)

I think that a major CD list and a line telling about style should be
enough.

I think this is a good place.

A FAQ should be mostly a list of shortly and concisely answered questions.
A short paragraph is good, but a story is not :)

I have a pretty crazy idea, if moby does a little more of this hip-hop
sounding stuff I think he should collab with the one the only Chuck D of
public enemy...but thats pretty crazy, but I'd love to see it.
I do think he should collab with David Byrne...I think he could lay out
some nice stuff for the Manic Street Preachers as well, their new album
is supposed to include a bit of "electronica" in it.
More Moby stuff...well the likes of the Four corners area of the States
(corners of Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and Utah) will soon be exposed
to Moby...I am now in College and I have a radio show... I will mostly
be playing british rock/pop/indie, but I will play lots of techno, moby,
hip hop, techno, ryu, moby, oingo boingo, klf, moby, talking head and
yeah, did I mention I will play some moby?
Well I am pretty excited about it.

I'm not a female, but thank you for the idea.
I'm lucky because I' live in the Netherlands, so I have "Honey" at home
for more than a month.
What does samebody mean if he puts down "w/"?
I'am a newbe and I don't know what it means. Does it means something as
"with"?
