because they don't do much. they're fakers. the music sounded great. and
the lights they brought with them for the show were super. but as far as
having a stage presence, and entertaining a crowd....they are manilla.
they never said anything during the show...never made any connection with
their audience. just let the DAT roll on while playing with a knob or two.
i've seen morcheeba live on tv, and they seemed great. i'd like to see them

Subject: (mobility) Moby discography updated
Just wanted to let everyone know that the discography has been updated,
quite extensively. A number of people contributed corrections and new
material since March, and they have all been rolled into v3.95 of the
Moby discography. There was no 3.94. There is so much new info that
normally I would move the version number up 0.10. Unfortunately, I ran
out of numbers! ;) But seriously, I am reserving 4.0 for a major over-
haul of the discography layout.
My original discography system has been outgrown by the huge volume of
entries, and clearly needs a makeover. I want to rewrite it (yikes)
using an attempt at Lazlo Nibble's format, or a slight variation thereof.
Lazlo maintains a ton of discographies and has a popular, proven
organization method. Further down the road, I'd like to make an XML
version of the Moby discography.
Anyways, some of the most notable new information is the inclusion
of the Brotherhood 12" (thanks to Steve Giles), the new Pork Guys 7"
(announced in June by James Carrier, but sorry I don't know the track
listing yet), and a humense* list of remix and compilation information
contributed by Keith Clancy. And all of the new UK "Honey" info has
been added. Also, other people sent in various tweaks and additions.
Whew! :)
Since most of the past few months' additions were only incorporated
now, it's possible I misplaced some email with info, or failed to give
proper credit. If so, I'm sorry -- please re-send the info. Also,
there are still a lot of question marks, blanks, and unknowns lurking
around. Please email me any info/comments...
By the way, there seems to be a little confusion about my email address.
My current ISP is Verinet, but if I change ISPs in the future, that will
change also. To minimize lost/misdirected email, I publish my alternate
email address, dcerman@nyx.net, which I plan to keep for years to come.
It currently forwards messages to dcerman@verinet.com, but will forward
mail to wherever I can best receive it in the event of an email address
change. Feel free to use either address. The Nyx one is not outdated.
BTW2, let's not forget that Moby's birthday is coming up September 11!
Now may be a good time to send him some mail. :)

Haha! No, Moby was referring to a certain stereotype which is commonly seen.
anal-retentive bit referring to DJs who think that A)they are the shit and
the world should show gratitude & B) that music, DJing, and 'the scene' all
follow certain rules and everything must be just 'so'. The white caucasian
bit is kinda just stuck on, as usually the party guilty is white. (ahem,
Keoki) Crystal Method I can't say much about, but while their album 'Vegas'
is entertaining, when it comes to aural variations they are lacking. It
sounds like a remix single, they use the same sounds and structures and it
wears thin. Their remixes for others are slightly better because the origin
sounds are different. CM still makes them sound the same as their own, and
boring, somehow. I like to hear them in a mix set or a rave, when I'm
dancing or grooving, but not during a casual listening session. Moby is good
for both! :)

Wow. I don't believe it. I thought owning at least EIW was a requirement
to get on the list eh? :) So you're putting out $$$ for all these rare
12" albums and not that. It's my favorite Moby CD. Buy it before anything
else!

Well, I'm going to place an order w/ Mute as soon as their pages are
updated, accurate, and ready to order. I'd like a shirt 'n' hat, too. I want
the EIW w/ Underwater. I listen to EIW, Ambient, & the EIWDJmix at a
friend's house. I'm not idling on the Revolver #2 CD, tho. No way. Yeah, I
can see how you would think I'm backwards for this, though. I'm looking for
all sorts of weird things.

Yes! How about Moby / Underworld w/ Josh Wink spinning an opening set!
Underworld last! Now that would be the show to be at. My ideal show.

Well Maybe this'll help.
CDNOW: No listing yet
Music Boulevard: No listing yet
GEMM - has 2 Honey cds and 1 12" (private dealers? I think so)
CD UNIVERSE: No listing yet
Good luck! I don't think they'll come to on-line stores till the end of
August, I doubt this release has high enough demand to be made a priority.

yeah i heard the rollo/bliss remix of honey again....from what i've
heard of the original i think i like the remix better. but the remix
sounds so much like faithless it probably doesnnt count as moby.
on a different note, i was listening to Davo's show on WPKN sunday
nite, some time around 2 am or so, and he played a mix of "injected
with a poison" (by praga khan)and i was like "aw yeah this rocks!"
(and after that he played some Schooly D and some sweet d'n'b')
so when i woke up and went down stairs, i watched the amp tape,
and...guess what...they played "injected with a poison"! now i'm not
sure what time davo played it, but i think it was sometime between 2
and 3 am.
okay, like, just in case anyone cares...

Yeah, the R&SB remix is really different from the original track.
The B-sides and other remixes are still nice to listen to once you
have heard your fill of Honey.

"Injected With A Poison" is an awesome old track. I love it.
Praga Khan has done a couple other good tracks too, but I
haven't been able to get ahold of their best mixes.

Moby mix 2 which is not found elsewhere. It is overpriced, but I'll bet you

I guess I have a different point of view when it comes to the Crystal
Method. I have heard criticisms for their technical abilities like Ryu
mentions. But for those who are non technical, maybe ignorant, like
myself... I'm enjoying the bliss. I've seen them twice now and neither
time did I go to see them but the artists that they were on tour with.
They rocked both shows and the audience had a huge reaction each time.
The first performance was a bit too loud (very rare for me to say) and
they broke down the music way too often... I wanted to keep dancing and
they made that difficult. The second time I saw them perform was after
seeing BT. The sound was perfect and they didn't break things down as
often. I was surprised to see the audience get into their act more so
than BT. However, BT is Better!
Cheers!

Yes, I have the B-sides too. I'm listening to them now. :) They're
good. "Micronesia" is a little bit like "Shining", but not too much.
It's medium-fast with a sharp snare beat. It starts out with the beat
and some bass. I thought I heard this beginning part in the new movie
BASEketball, but I must've mistaken it for a different familiar-sounding
song. A piano and some sort of pad or crystal-like sound comes in, and
then strings. "Micronesia" would do well as a soundtrack. It makes me
imagine flying low and fast over the ocean near south Pacific islands
or something. You know, like that one scene from the beginning of Miami
Vice? :) But better. After awhile, the drums and then the strings end,
and then the rest. It's a nice piece. It didn't impress me too much
when I first heard it, but I like it better now.
"Memory Gospel" is the other "Honey" B-side. It's medium-slow, and I
like it a lot. It's like the tracks from the Voodoo Child album, but
with a subdued funky beat and some repeating "yeah" female vocal samples
riding atop the music. Halfway through the song, Moby's trademark
harmonic layered strings pour in, and it's just great (if you're in a
mood to sit back and think). The song keeps intensifying, adding piano
accentation and having the drums get louder, until the last 40 seconds,
which are just the basic synth chords that the song started with and the
vocal samples. It's very nice, a little bluesy, and I think it hints at
the direction Moby will probably go with his next album (but don't quote
me on that).
Both B-sides have appropriate names that match the music well, and they
round out this UK "Honey" single #1 well. I wish a remix would have
been included on this CD, especially in light of the remix surplus, but
nevertheless this is a disc worth getting, especially since there has
been no indication that "Honey" will ever come out in the US.
That brings another question to mind. There are Germans, Australians,
French, etc. on Mobility, right? Well if anybody can find out anything
about non-UK releases and promos, I'd be very interested to know. I'm
going to be on the lookout for German CDs in particular, which I hope
will include mixes not on the UK CDs.
Well, I'm off to browse online music stores. Hope this message answers
your question adequately, Ryu. Less than a week 'til release, folks!

Yo, I love BT. I am going to the Crystal Method show in DC at the 9:30 club on
Sept 13. Does anyone know if BT will be there (especially since it is only
about 20 minutes from his house) cause that would be awesome. Or, if anyone
else besides CM will be with them? I haven't even heard more than all the
Crystal Method songs on every other commercial on TV, but the last concert I
went to was 1985 on the same day - my birthday - and that was Michael JAckson.
But he was awesome. Later.
