Through various industry and underground connections, I got a sneak peak of
an advance release copy of "Honey" + mixes this week and thought I would
share some my opinion on the track.
The phrase hiphop is being bandied about to describe the song, but I gotta
say, "Honey" is pure FUNK. Guitar on the left, synth on the right, bass in
the middle of the mix. I haven't heard a fender rhodes this funky since
1976! I think 118 beats per minute might do the trick. Sample Bessie Smith
and a hype kick drum, layin' down a groove so thick!
Moby's 118 mix is an especially good club adaptation of the original. Rollo
& Sister Bliss remix is also extremely listenable and club ready. But the
only thing it has to do with the original is a few drop in samples from the
chorus.
Makes me very anxious to hear the new record next spring.

Yeah, it's hard to tell on 27 secs. I'm pretty curious about what the rest

How about this tour. Moby - Aphex - Orbital. Too bad I wasn't listening to
this music when I was 13. I would have been pretty psyched to see that. And I
got a question, does anyone know what the lineup for the Woodstock 2 show was?

My name is Kevin, I am 17 years old, and I love MOBY!! I first heard an
actual Moby CD when my brother came home from college. He was listening to
Everything is Wrong, it caught my attention, and I've been listening to Moby
since. My collection isn't too big, I am the proud owner of about 6 moby
cds. I love Mixmag Live, Volume 2. That is the tightest cd of them all.
You can't get bored of it. Sven Vath and Moby are sweet together. I like
many different types of music. Lately, I've been sucked into the Electronic
Sections at music stores. I like Alternative, Rock, Pop, some Rap, and
Classic Rock.

first, a moby question: has anyone heard the 33.3333333 minute long remix of
hymn? i saw it in a record store and it looked interesting. i was going to
listen but the store has this bizarre rule that if you don't buy the first cd
you listen to, you can't buy anymore and i unfortunately didn't pick that cd
first.
second, a non-moby question: crystal method is playing here (minneapolis) in a
few weeks and i was wondering if anyone has seen them play live? is it a good
show? morcheeba plays the same week - any reviews of their shows would be
groovy too.
adios,
april.

The U.N.K.L.E. disc is also being released in a limited edition format with
2 bonus tracks-retail of about $40 I believe. If you're interested in
getting it go to HMV 333 Yonge & order it in advance. They may not get any

by hahn rowe. wow. strange combination, though i don't know much about
hector zazou, and far less about hahn rowe.

Hi all,
I have seen moby's new video three times !
It was on Dutch tv (TMF) every morning in a show called Clip Galary.
It starts with a wooden box coming out of the sky, then 3 moby's
come out of it. It's a nice video, not really with a story in it.
It has some special effects like multiple moby's in a shot and
dissapearing moby. The video ends when all moby's are back in the
box and the box go's kaboooom !!

Can anyone tell me about the Jr. Vasquez mixes of "Into The Blue" that were
only releases on 12"? The two that aren't on the Remixes single? Thanks in

Looking for info on the following: "Over mix" of Revolver, "Lucky Orgasm &
Menacing" mixes of "Hymn", info on the Voodoo Child 12" and VC Remixes 12".
I just want basic description or comparisons to other Moby mixes. I have
music hunts going on for a few artists and Moby, of course, is one of them.
I'm just trying to prioritize.

Mi amigo John heard lots of Moby in a mix set on the radio a couple
nights ago. 89.3 is a local college-based experimental station in the
Chicago area. Anyways, a DJ on there did a set w. the first half-hour filled
w/ Chicago streethouse, (including "The Grind" by Ricky Garcia) and then
went into Moby. e played 3 or 4 Moby songs. All I know for sure is that he
did a mix from the Wink Acid Interp of BBMH into the original (extended)
BBMH. He told me one other, but I forgot. Who is this DJ w/ the good taste
in tunes? Anybody have an idea? JadenX?
I'd feel a lot better if even 1 person wrote me or the list and
said, "No, we don't know, stop asking us questions!" I've been asking about
various things for days now and haven't gotten a single answer of any type
to any question. Am I talking to a wall? If ya got no answers, then make up
more questions! (better than nothing, right peepz?) Look alive now!

I wish I knew....have you tried calling the station? Do you know what
time he/she was on? 88.7 has played some sweet stuff late at night on
Thursdays before (I've heard a lot of Moby, among other things) but I can

No, I haven't called. I didn't even get to hear the set myself. I rarely use
radio or TV, you see, for about a year my media input has been the
web-net-whatever, my turntables, an occasional movie, and, of course, for
too much literature. Yes, I believe 89.3 is Northwestern. college...Moby...
this reminds me of the concert in May that I went to. I'm wearing my ugly

August 17 was the previous date, as far as I know. It's what I was

probably just didn't update their website.

They are nice -- especially the Tribal Dub. All 4 mixes are related,
so you won't hear anything new & amazing. But if you can get ahold of
this promo 12", I think you'll be pleased with it.

> Menacing" mixes of "Hymn", info on the Voodoo Child 12" and VC Remixes 12".

The 'Over mix' of "Revolver" is just the music video version. It's the
same as the single & album versions, but with the lyrics changed from
"that's when I reach for my revolver" to "that's when I realize it's
over".
Those remixes of "Hymn" are both on the _Everything Is Wrong - DJ Mix
Album_ 2CD, which I'd be surprised if you don't have, seeing as how
you're getting so much incredibly rare vinyl lately. 'Menacing' is
an awesome take on the track. 'Lucky Orgasm' uses the same beat as
'Menacing', but with a repeating "ewwwaaaahhhhh, ewwwehh" voice/synth
throughout it, and hundreds of triggerings of female vocal samples
like "oh" and "yeah". It's a cool mix to have, but not nearly as
sexual as Alpha Team's "Speed Racer (Hardcore)" remix or even Mariah
Carey's "Fantasy (Def Club Mix)". Now *those* sound like orgasms! ;)
And if you can get the Voodoo Child 12"s... well, YOU'RE SO LUCKY!!!
Jeez, Steve, you're starting to make me jealous. :) Actually, I have
EX-227, but not the remixes. It's a fine record. Both 12"s contain
mixes/tracks not found anywhere else.

Thanks! I'm getting it as soon as I go to the airport to get a 'cheque'
drawn in UK pounds.
Thanks for 'Over' info. Should've realized what that was.
>>>'Menacing' 'Lucky Orgasm'
Believe it or not, I don't own a copy of Everything is Wrong! I can get it
anywhere, but I've been holding out for the 2CD w/ Underwater. I don't have
the Evil Ninja DJ Mix either. Or Ambient. Or Disk. My Moby collection grows
in spurts, and I get just as much a kick out of finding rare stuff as I do
hearing it. Besides, I can borrow everything listed above that I don't have
from a friend, so it's not high priority.
>>>And if you can get the Voodoo Child 12"s... well, YOU'RE SO LUCKY!!!
Well, I can't... actually I know where a copy of the first VC 12" is, but it
might be gone. I posted it to the list, I'm fairly sure. It's at either
Virtual Vinyl UK or Raz's records for sale. There's tons of yummies
out'n'about. I'm getting the Jr. Vasquez mixes, the ITB 2x12, Hymn white
label promo, 2 Honey promos, the Revolver promo 12" w/ the R&SB
Instrumental, ATINITBL 12" w/ pink sticker, and, er, Revolver CD #2. I found
someone w/ the VC Remixes, but they won't part w/ it unless I make a
ridiculous offer. (I'm paying pretty high for the ITB 2x12 from that person)
I'm looking for all sorts of crazy stuff, tho, including the Rock The House
UK 12" w/ Mad Love on it. Who knows what I'll find?

as well as being very busy lately
when i get the new moby single, ill be posting

new moby stuff ive just heard for the first time:
michael jackson- beat it (moby remix)
i was afraid i would hate it since im not an mj fan,
but it sounds much more like a moby song than the original
and i would reccommend it to all moby fans
but other mj fans have said they hated it
hahahaha
anyone else who was interested in compiling a collection
