Count me as one of the lucky ones..I found Disk in a used cd bin..Why
anyone would get rid of this release is BEYOND me...Even if you did have a
cdrom that wouldn't read the disc, it's still worth keeping for Shining.
They're obviously not a hardcore Moby collector :).
For those of you who don't have Disk..and haven't checked what's on it...It
has the following:
EYTM(album version), FSR(Ecstatic Mix), and Shining <all 3 playable from a
normal cd player>
The cd-rom portion contains the songs: ITB(album version), Move(ep
version), and FCH(album version). And has the following videos: Hymn
[This Is My Dream] and EYTM(Beatmasters 7" Mix)
No need to comment on the first two audio songs..we've all heard em..we all
love em..But Shining..Ooooooooh..One of the most beautiful tracks I've ever
heard...Brings out all sorts of emotions..I'd place it in the same vein as
God Moving..Shining is a bit more beat driven..but it pushes you from one
emotional extreme to the other(like God Moving)...I'm curious..is there a
bpm limit to trance music..cuz I'd put Shining in that catergory..Put the
headphones on..hit play..close your eyes..and feel the song permeate(sp?)
your body. I love how Moby places an underlining piano/synth track in a
song..It gives the song so much more feeling. It's too bad this wasn't on
EIW..I think it fits REALLY well.
Now the cd-rom...Once again..no need to comment on the 3 audio
tracks..we've all heard em..We love them to death :). First EYTM..I will
need a little help here...Now I'm assuming one of the woman in the video is
Rozz Morehead..who's the black woman? Anyways..it's a VERY beautiful
video..very sensuous..light touching..kissing..feeling..bondage..All
tastefully done..Probably would have been played during VH1's Sex Symbols
half hour :). <Side note: If it is Rozz in the vid..I love the tat around
her navel :).>
Now for Hymm..First off it's in b/w(EYTM was in color)..The music starts
and there's some sort of fuzzy image..not quite sure what it is..then it
cuts to a wide open field...it's a little out of focus..but it starts to
move in on something..it's not till your right on the person that you know
it's Moby..Moves right on his head and acts like it goes into it..Then the
imagery starts..It looks like they placed a stop motion camera on some sort
of vehicle..So all the lights of the city are stretched out..but you're
moving forward..Then it places Moby on said vehicle..sort of shakey..out of
focus..like a dream maybe(hence the title?)? He's placed in the water..in
some sort of pool/spa(maybe the same water that the pictures for EIW and
it's singles were taken from?)..In a cemetary..In that same open field
passionately kissing a woman(anyone know who this is?)..In what looks like
a monk's outfit..floating in the air(a lot like the Tablah player on
M2)..Screaming..etc...All in all..a very surreal video(much like a dream :)
)...As for the music..it's nothing like Hymm(which is why I like artists
like Moby..the remixes are usually nothing like the original..so when you
get singles..it's like buying a full length album)..It does have a bit from
the original(Put on Hymm..FF to 50 seconds..blank out the piano track..and
that's what's in the remix)..but has a new track over it..very
happy..uplifting..has a slight beat to it..Every so often you can hear the
vocal "This Is My Dream"..Also sounds like Moby put female vocals into a
synth and played the keys. Of course now I want the single with the
song..so I don't have to have my computer to play it.
That's all..but 2 small side notes...For those you have Disk..and can play
it on their computer..can you PLEASE send me sci1hlp.vxd(version 4.00.950)
located in windows|system|iosubsys..I did see how to fix the problem on
Moby.org(thanks Dan)..but I guess Djdedd no longer exists(I emailed him..I
got it back saying user doesn't exist)..please send it to
Fishlips3@prodigy.net..
And to Dan...Something is wrong with the search engine...Before I found the
help in the Disk "review" I tried searching the list archives and got back
nothing.
Thanks to all..Get Disk asap!

the ricochet music CD V.beta is very good, the Moby (voodoo child) cut is
the same just chopped off earlier, but it sounds good like that. And it has
a good drum & bass cut from britannika. Michael knOTT track is great, as
well as VOL. And the CD only costs of few bucks. Brad put together a good
comp. CD.

i paid 27 for the story so far, it's a good extra
version of the self titiled, almost like it's a self
titled mixed remixed, it has 4 alternate mixes
(go-woodtick, drop a beat-new version, i feel it-i
feel it mix, go-subliminal mix unedited) as well as
one track as far as i know not available anywhere
else- mercy. and it also includes thousand. mercy is
more of an ambient piece so if you have all the self
titled album singles and you dont like the mellower
stuff of self titled it's probably not worth it..

Correct you are..and it's also on Rough Trade...I'll use this post to
remind everyone that Dan(along with Moby, Mike Brown, Corley Brigman, Jon
Eisen, Dave Hein, etc) have compiled all the songs/remixes into a song
index discog located @ http://www.moby.org/info/mobyidx.txt...It's a great
source because if you're looking for a certain song or remix that you want
to buy..you know which album/single you need to look for..Without having to
look thru a full discog. Thanks for all the work Dan!

If no one has spoke up yet..I'd be willing to help..I have two stores at my
disposal..Both bring in imports all the time...Sometimes I have to order
stuff though..which is no prob.

The reason I didn't do this privately is I have an idea..I'm sure that we
either: #1 Know ppl that travel overseas from time to time...OR #2 know ppl
personally(or on different mailing lists) that live overseas. I was
thinking instead of going through record stores..and having to pay $10 -
$12 for a import single..Maybe someone in said country would be willing to
buy copies for ppl who want them(of course after recieving $$$)..and mail
them out...Maybe it's cheaper? I'm just curious since my gf was able to
get the JBT single(Aus) for $4..How much is it to ship one cd from England,
Australia, etc? Is it cost effective..Is it worth going this route? If
anyone has ideas on this..please let them be known..While I do like to
support independent record stores..Sometimes the prices are hard to
swallow.
