ok, i apologize if this was already mentioned on this list. lately i've been
lazy with e-mail and have been deleting anything which doesnt have a catchy
subject line.
but anyway, i was searching around rocktropolis.com and did a search for
moby...and...well...i found this....
Karaoke fans got more
than they bargained for at New York's Spy bar
Wednesday (May 27) night. Boogie Nights star
Mark Wahlberg was in attendance, but it was
Moby who took the stage and shed his
pants...
i found it interesting--not too surprising though. again, sorry if its
already been said.

Yea, I just picked up MixMag the other week. IT covers pretty much the rave
scene. I picked up the American version which seems to be changing its name to
Mixer in the near future. The English or European version of MixMag is
probably better, but since Moby is American, it might have info on him. This
on didn't, but we will see. Later.

can complain about is the food.

I've been out to Vegas 4 or 5 times, and it's expensive,
believe me. 7 bucks for a McDonalds' value meal?!?! I've also visited
that Tower Records, too, and it's not a bad place, although that was a
while back last time I went there. Oh, well, at least Vegas produced the
Crystal Method, right?

I'm in Milwaukee, and I'm almost certain that I it saw at Barnes & Noble.
There is also a good hobby shop by me that carries *tons* of magazines,
and they have it. Doesn't MixMag have a webpage?

I found this today in alt.music.techno
I just got back from NY and I'm sooo excited about Moby's NEW material.
I got a very special sneak listen from a DAT of his new stuff. Let me
tell you, he is definitely back. I also got to hear remixes of the first
single which, I'm told, will be available on import in August. The Rollo
mix is to die for! So, for all you Moby fans.....time to rejoice!

Tower is Schaumburg, IL carries them, maybe your local Tower will too.
It also has URB, Jockey Slut, and a few other like magazines. Two have
Josh Wink articles this month. :)

Yea, basically any of those big bookstores that are in their own building. You
probably won't find MixMag in Waldenbooks or some other small mall book store
but if you can find something like Barnes and Noble, Bibelot, or Borders, they
will have it. If you still have no luck, and you really want to get it, I'll
give you the phone number and/or adress to reach them. Later.

Rollo mixing for Moby again... that's cool! I'd like to see a Peter
Rauhofer (Club 69, Sizequeen) remix. I know he has his hands all over
everything but he does some great work. I would also like to see some
remixes from BT, Paul Oakenfold... and a few other of my favorite
artists that aren't as popular.
By the way: BT is now a free agent in the US and I believe in the UK
too. Has anyone else heard this? I believe the info came from
Billboard mag.

yesterday i went to the library my mom works at, and i found this 3
volume book called "parents aren't supposed to like it" and what it is
is sort of a encyclopedia of music for teenagers. or maybe parents.
anyway so i was looking thru the index and under dance music who else
appears but our dear richard melville hall? so i was looking at the
entry on him. for a idiots guide to moby, this explained a lot. of
course, we all now pretty much everything it said there, but i guess
parents wouldn't. so maybe its a parents guide to music. btw, also in
the category of dance music it said bands such as deee lite, orb,
chems, (but not prodigy), kraftwerk, uh probably someone else i
forgot. the weird thing is, they put a lot of bands my mom likes in
there, like blues traveler and collective soul and the gin blossoms.
and they put david bowie and bush under brit-pop. whats up with that?
oh well...
well anyway the book is called "parents aren't supposed to like it"
and its 3 volumes, and its published by
U. X. L.
so go look for it soon. your library might not have it immediately. it
just came out. so maybe go to a bookstore and look for it.
hey people, does anyone else have a top 3 or so list?
only 2 people responded. i need more info than that! so if anyone has
a top 3 (or whatever) list _PLEASE_ give it to me soon. i want to have
a big, diverse list here. and most importantly I WANT AS MUCH
PARTICIPATION AS POSSIBLE.
ok. bye now.

Oh, I had the opportunity to see Moby live here in Sweden at the "Arvika
Festivalen".
It was the coolest live performance I have ever seen. Two live drummers and
one live bass player (I will buy a bass guitarr, I promise), what an
incredible power! Only a vegan with lots of carrot-drinks like Moby can
have that energy on stage, he played hundreds of different instruments, he
climbed on the drums, he stand on his synth, he was everywere, what a man!
And when he played his last song (that incredible speedy one) and the rain
poured down, he climed up on his keyboard and everyone was like like mad
(including me, which was extremely mad).
At least I got something to live for, to keep the memory of this concert in
my mind.

btw. If someone got pictures from this concert, please send me a mail...

I read that BT is without label in MixMag. Maybe Trophy will sign him. That
would be awesome. The one BT album that I have (which is so good) reminds me
of moby so much in the songs but in the difference of each of the songs. Maybe
it is just me. Later.

i just noticed today that a song i have has parts that sound alot like parts of
Moby's "Go". some of you mihgt have this cd...its called "Killer Techno 2" and
the 10th track ("industrium" by holographic) has some string chord progressins
that i would almost swear are identical to "go". wonder if it is a rip-off or
just a coincidence? just struck me as interesting as i heard it...

I've got a sky blue colored 10-inch called Little Tykes imported
from the UK that uses Laura Palmer's Theme....perhaps you a haave
something similar, Gingerbread, that also uses Twin Peaks? That records
is 45rpm on one side and 33 on the other.... I have another record that
samples the vocal "It's Party Time!" and the "Go!" vocal, as well as
sampling some Wink and more Moby. (all in one song, crazy, ennit?)
Whoever it was has good taste! Does anyone know anything about Tilly
Lilly's Roller Coaster? I bought that on a lark today and hope it's
good. 'tis a transparent yellow 10 inch. I like these little colored
records, they're fun.

I'm having a horrible time making my mind up... I can think of about a
dozen or so loved albums for this year and I have several still waiting
to be listened to... (Damian is a freak and has 80 CD's that have been

so what label is moby on nowadays? i heard somewhere that (in america)
he is no longer on elektra. that's too bad, because elektra is my
favorite major label (the cure are also on elektra). well hey, as long
he continues to make good music, right? i hope he still records with
mute in europe (great label too--depeche mode), so i can easily order
his import stuff from mutebank if i can't find it here. but i'm just
rambling.
can anyone tell me anything about dj cake? is it good stuff? is it
worth searching for? is it another pseudonym for moby, or is it someone
else?
there was a copy at one of my local record stores that sold for
incredibly cheap, like $.99 i think. of course with my luck, next time
i looked for it, it was gone. haven't seen it since.
3 favs, eh? well, i'd have to say (my tastes are slightly different from
probably most of you)......................
1. tortoise "TNT"
2. beastie boys "hello nasty" (just got it today--kicks much ass.)
3.dunno, haven't heard too many cd's of 1998. from what i've heard from
the album, massive attack's "mezzanine" seems pretty damn sweet.
that is all.
