No caffeine today, yet, just a bottle of Triple Ginseng & Schizandra tea. My
inspiration was none other than a desire for message traffic...so I started
a new msg not having any idea what I would write about. I was thinking about
remixing them all together, but that's too much organization and work. Maybe
I'll spew out a few more, who knows. I apologize to everyone who actually
read that. Bye now!

To finally answer this question, yes, there is a Virgin Megastore in Las
Vegas. Don't count on $6 CDs tho, the stuff they had advertised in
Sweater was more in the $12 range. They had a sale in the second half
of
April, but obviously that's over now.
Virgin Megastore also has locations in LA, NY, SF, Disney World, Vegas,
Costa Mesa, Ontario Mills, Burbank, Long Island, Sacramento, Dallas, and
Phoenix, and they have stores opening this year in Denver, Chicago,
Miami,
and New Orleans. Now you all know =)

I just got back from CStone Monday morn myself. I thought for sure I was the
only Mobility person there. But, lo and behold, not only was Ade there, but
I actualy got to meet Darryl Cottier, a prime specimen of beefcake if I do
say, and he bought a RIM *v.beta* sampler from me.
I went to the NSoul stage a time or two. Mainly to see Joy Electric and a
few new artists during the day. I didn't stay long though because the mud
was so thick. I missed cloud2ground. Love the cd though. Great structures
and melodies.
If anyone else was there, email me and let's compare notes.

Actually, that's the exact same thing they did with Everything Is Wrong.
"Hymn (This Is My Dream)" "alt.quiet.version" both preceded the album by,
like, eight months or so.

Subject: (mobility) im back
okay this is basically what i did during my vacation to the land of
spongey grass, old people, heat, bugs, wildfires, and mickey mouse. as
well as the happily wedded couple of erika and joe kaufmann. and yes
it is moby related.
we drove down to dc where my moms librarian convention was going on. i
love going to these, you get to go around collecting free stuff like
books and candy and pencils and paper and cds and stuff. plus they
have internet rooms there.
then we drove down to florida. it was weird, we just missed the fires.
(you all know about the fires right?) i mean, while we were driving we
could smell smoke and see burnt trees and even see fire. it was like,
at 6am we were driving in a certain area, by noon that area was
closed. that close.
anyway i didnt go to magic kingdom like you people thought i did. i
did that last year. i went to epcot. wait, didn't i say all that? and
evn about the smart watermelon too? i dont want to repeat myself...
well anyway heres something moby related...disney pipes in lots of
atmosphere music everywhere i guess, and one time during the morning
near the info desk, i swear i heard when its cold id like to die. the
song playing had no words, but it was the exact same melody and it
sounded exactly the same. maybe it was the instrumental version from
eiw remix, which i still dont have. and actually, here's why i dont
have it...
we went shopping later on, and we came across this music store called
Music 4 Less. talk about fraud, almost all the cds were like 15.99,
how less is that?
but there were a few bargains, like they had rare/go for 14.99, which
was 2 less than what i paid for it at home. the import section,
however, was good. actually it was more like an "imports we couldnt
selll cuz they were too expensive so we slashed the prices" section.
they had 2 moby cds: revolver remixes (w/ whip it dmv) for 10$. and
they also had.......EIW Remix, $19. i was thinking, well thats the
lowest price i ever saw for that. but i didnt get it. but i didnt pass
it up for no good reason. they also had a ton of underworld imports,
and they had a copy of second toughest for $18, and it came with a
bonus disc. it only included two trax, (nuxx) and rez, but i didnt
have those trax anyway. and besides, i couldnt find this cd
domestically for much less than that price. plus it was marked down
from 26.49. so tell me that wasnt worth passing up eiw remix.
btw, i know there are tons of uw fans on this list. how rare is this
special 2cd edition of second toughest that i just bought? if it is
rare at all? it said limited edition on it...
well anyway if anyone goes to orlando sometime soon, go to the belz
factory outlet malls, and in mall 2, go to Music 4 less and you can
get a buncha cheep moby cds!
mall 2, btw, is the one that looks like a lowercase "m" in the "you
are here" map, not the one that looks like a cross. but theres a music
4 less in mall 1 also, so maybe that one has some good stuff too.
and then came the real reason we went to florida: the wedding. i kept
wondering, why does wedding music suck? why do love songs always have
to be mushy? oh well. they did play some good music, like for the
first two hours while we were eating, they played dave matthews band
_under the table..._ (twice) which was cool cuz dave matthews rocks.
but for the rest of the reception, like all the music sucked. of
course, like all the cds they had there sucked too. they had like
marky mark and mc hammer and crap. they did have a copy of lisence to
ill tho. these kids kept bugging the dj to play "brass monkey"...and
they eventually played it! well at least they didnt play the macarena,
or that stupid song from titanic. or the chicken dance. but they didnt
play any techno either, of course it wouldve been weird if they did.
actually once i went to a wedding and they had a prodigy single and i
kept requesting they play it, and when they finally did, it was a
remix by the chemical brothers, which was cool except i like the
original version way better and i requested the original verison too.
oh well. at least they played something slightly good. of course the
real reson to go to a wedding reception is the food of course. not the
music.
well anyway, while we were going home, i saw this billboard near
atlanta. it said, in huge letters,
MOBY! i guess moby is the name of a dj. it also said 105.1 FM Kicks
Morning weekdays. and while i saw that i was listening to why cant it
stop. ha.
btw, i now have a favorite hamburger restaurant. its called krystal
method! it's kind of like whitecastle that we have here up north, with
like really small burgers and all, except its down south, and the
waitresses stand behind tons of black boxes and ocasionally push a few
buttons and eventually you get your food. haha. does anyone get that
one at all? never mind...
anyway, we went to chatanooga tennesee to look at some choo choos,
when we found the public library. mom went in to check if they had any
of her books. i checked the computer to see if they had any moby cds.
i rthought i was checking by author, but i guess when you type
soemthing in the computer it searches subject author and title. well i
found 28 copies of moby dick, 1 book about moby dick, but nothing by
moby. well i dont think anyone in tenessee has heard of moby anyway so
no surprise there. then i saw they had internet computers, so i
checked my email. 64 new messages!?!?!? well thats what you get when
you dont check yr email for a week. and i wrote ryu and (whoever was
looking for a prodigy list) when i was there.
then we went to alabama and went in this cave that stays at like 58
degrees Farenheit all year. cool.
then we went to knoxville. cuz like, anyone who watches the simpsons a
lot knows why we had to go to knoxville: to knock over the sunsphere!
actually, for all you simpsons fans who remember the episode when bart
and his friends went to knoxville, and they went to the sunsphere and
it was practically dead there, thats really what it was like. i mean,
the area around the sunsphere looked nothing like it did on the
simpsons, but the town was just dead. like all the restaurants were
closed, the sunsphere was closed, we couldnt go in there. every store
was closed. actaully, i heard there was a curfew there or something.
but even still, it was a few hours early. so we were searching for a
place to eat when we stopped at..an arbys! theres another simpsons
joke...in another episode, when the kids get stranded on an island,
sherry or terry (one of those anoying twins) says "i'm so hungry i
could eat at arbys!" and everyones like "whoah, she's hungry!" well i
like arbys anyway.
okay now i have some moby ?s/polls/etc.
one of my favorite moby songs is slight return. i notice nobody ever
talks about this song. what does everyone else think about this song?
and also, who sings in first cool hive? i mean i know there are no
words but someone is still singing. is it mimi? and also, what does
mimi look like? when i picture someone to match that voice, for some
reason i see alain morisette. eek.
and one more thing......i have another poll for yall.
whats everyones fave cds so far this year? since the year is already
half over...
everyone give me a top 3 (or so...whatever.) and i'll compile it into
a big list. give me at least a top 3.
and give it to me, not the list. heres my list:
1. various artists _thanks_
2. goldie _saturnzreturn_
3. ryu _power made flesh_
heres a few more...like honorable mention...
dj spooky _synthetic fury_
xero products _lull _ (demo)
david holmes, _lets get killed_
and theres a ton of cds i havent heard this year as always, like
massive attack, morcheeba, i could go on and on...
well anyway you can count bootlegs/cdrs/your own music/etc. and
imports and stuff like that. well i cantwait to hear from you all! i
would like as many responses as possible. and plaese, to me, not the
list. theyll be due an my birthday (july 26) and ill compile them
shortly after. i want as much cooperation as possible!!!!!!!
okay i guess thats all. this concludes the paul simpson digest for the
week of july 10. goodbye all.

Confusing question structure, Paul, but the drone guitars and whistling
are definately the JSBE remix of ITB. I gots it, I likes it. My Move 12"

OK.. i've decided to get juno because geocities mail can get annoying at
times (their server goes out every once and a while). i still have my
geocities account, but i won't be using it that much. so... just to let
you guys know..
hmm... lessee.. anything in Moby news? nope. i did go to Best Buy
yesterday and was shocked to see that they had a pretty big Moby
collection. Every other time i've gone, it was usually just ILTS or The
End of Everything. i find it really odd that all of a sudden CD stores
are getting techno.. it's like they woke up or something. my brother was
shocked to see that they had a lot of Front Line Assembly (i think i got
that right) CD's and Skinny Puppy CDs. i still haven't found any Moby
CD's in the mall CD stores.. so i guess techno is not getting all that
popular yet. darn! and i wanted to be part of the in crowd! ::sigh!::
also, i find it really upsetting that magazines like SPIN rarely do
articles on Moby. i've only read little tidbits and one page articles.
i want to see a whole spread! i want to see him on the cover! instead,
they put crap on the covers! i still think SPIN is better than Rolling
Stone, though... i like the Genius Lessons. hee hee! what magazines out
there have you guys read that have done a pretty good job with keeping up
with Moby news? i can't find any magazines anywhere, even in those big
bookstores. all i find are SPIN & RS and Vibe.
well.. i think i'll close this pointless post. i just decided to put
something because this list has been dead for a while. can anyone find
ANYTHING to talk about?!?!?! come on.. ANYTHING!!! i wish that Moby
single would come out already! anyways.. enough rambling.
Blessed Be,
