I was wondering... (I am about to hop into an oven)...what if all of Moby's eco-friendliness, vegetarianism, etc. is just a show? Maybe he's just putting on this fake face just to attract listeners, just to seem more interesting. I personally don't believe this, but the uncertainty has passed my thoughts. All the records and Cds he produces are listened to and created with high-voltage electric equipment which is powered by coal-burning power plants which pollute our planet. These Cds are shipped to s
tores via gasoline burning trucks.
Maybe Moby doesn't love all of us.
The Moby I know would appreciate the fact that I express my doubts, even if they are against him.

if i remember corectly, moby has stated that there has to be a price paid to
get his message across about eco-frendiliness and animal rights. h says that
he belives that if the price that has to paid to get these messages out is to
make records, then that is what he will do. he realizes, i'm sure, that all of
those things must be done in order for him to make cds and records and such.
but, in this modern age, how many methods are there to get a message to
millions of people without doing _something_ that may be considered
"non-eco-friendly"? i think moby has chosen a lesser evil in records to get a
message out rather than not having his views stated to all.

greetings. i'm a new member so here's a little info of me.
i've been listening to moby for 3 years or so. i had no idea what techno
was when i first bought "E.I.W." ; didn't like it much at first but now i'm
addicted. my collection is up to 9 cds. "Animal Rights" and "Moby" are my
favorite. i'm also a tricky fan.
p.s. does anyone have input on the single "hymn (this is my dream)"

Mine, too. These thoughts remind me of Sting, a Amazon forests and natives
lover, but he's just a interested part, just a show. I can't believe it,
cause he's just done those things to get richer.
Yesterday I read in R.Gere interview, that after he talked in favour of
Tibet and Dalai Lama at the Oscar Awards Ceremony, he wasnt invited to
another ceremony. And when one day some people wanted to give him an award
(not an Oscar, you know), they asked him to sign a "contract", in which he'd
follow the script, and he wont say anything out of it. He asked the opposite,
and he was never invited.
That means more to me that all the concerts that Sting could have performed
pro anything/body.
And, by now, Moby hasnt compromised himself as much as I think I'd do if I
had his chances..
(Sorry if that offends you, but my head isnt cooled right now...)
Jonathan.

good points andy. i have to agree. i think that moby has sort of a
"break a few eggs to make an omlet" attitude, and that's really the only
way to influence people today.
the thing about moby that i admire alot is his honesty in his willingness
to compromise. he's not so henry rollins hardcore that he can't bend a
little to make a point. but at the same time, he is strong enuff not to
abandone any of his beliefs.
i doubt that this is all a front to sell records, because if it is...he's been
doing it for many years and to be honest....it really hasn't worked.
i mean, he's still not a pop icon, and if he was trying to reach that goal
by fronting as a vegan, i'm sure by now he'd try something else.
