hey everyone, i was listening to some of the dj sets on the hyperreal site. and
there is one that strats with one of the remixes of "james bond theme." it is
at this address:

and is listed in the 1997 sets, the 5th John Avery(NYC)
listing ("house/prog. house").

just thought those of you who may not have heard nay remixes of the bond theme
might enjoy hearing it....

btw, does anyone know which mix it is?  i can't place it off hand...

What I meant to say was there *are* a number of fans on the list who are
fortunate enough to be able to contact Moby whenever we feel, but we don't
out of respect for his privacy and the desire to not see the ensuing
conversation turn into one of those *gawd-awful* Chris Farley interviews
("So, Moby. You did that James Bond song for new movie, right?" "Um, yes,
Chris, that's right." "So was it hard to write a song like that?" "Well,
Chris, the song was actually written over 30 years ago for the first James

I don't mean calling him, but I would love to send him some questions about his
music through the mail.  Surely a letter is not too much of an invasion of
privacy.
    Does anyone happen to know his address.  Or even better, to maintain his
privacy, does anyone know the address of his record company?????

Maybe you shouldn't bother with the list if you are
going to complain all the time, I didn't notice anything
out of the ordinary- and those of us that have no life actually
enjoy reading all the posts- on topic or not.
The only posts that bum me out are the ones like yours!

since the school i'll be going to is just a couple

i'd certainly go for 'ambient'.

moby was never happy with it because it was released before
it was actually finished, but i like the ruff quality and
monotonononotonotonousness of it.  pure moody moby.

first of all, the best one to get first would be Moby, it's the most
balanced, and thought out of the three collections. Then you should get the
double disc set Rare/Go. It's similar to early underground but with some
rarer and smarter song choices and the delicious second disc of Go remixes.
Then Early Underground, then Ambient (if we're just talking Instinct
releases)

As for the $24 per... either your getting raped in the conversion rates
between the US and Canada, or you aren't looking around. You can probably
find a better deal if you look around or shop on-line

I think there is sometimes a different reason. I think there are a lot of
people who like this music, people who are in a position to 'sneak' it out
to the masses, knowing that perhaps it is the only way some people will ever
hear it.

For example, a radio station in LA, KLOS, plays a lot fo classic rock, but
for bumper music before and after commercials, you will hear a lot of
techno, rap, etc. Mostly instrumental, but it's there none the less. Beastie
boys, Moby, Busta Rhymes ?, etc. My feeling is that whoever is responsible
for choosing this 'bumper' material (a peon who has little say in anything
esle that goes on), is into that music, and since the station won't normally
play these songs, he or she takes the opportunity to play them whenever they
can, even if it is only for a few seconds.

Just a thought.
