Oh good call!
I looked up Mimi Goese in the HMV system & I don't think that anything came
up (it was a while back). I've done a few searches on the net and haven't
been able to find anything at all. Her voice is far too gorgeous to be left
unheard...if anybody knows anything about her, let us know!

i don't even have anything rare. i have some promos:
move
US CD promo elektra PRCD 8828-2
what love
US CD promo elektra 9121-2
all that i need is to be loved
US CD promo elektra 9238-2

US CD promo PRCD 9331-2
that's when i reach for my revolver
US CD promo elektra PRCD 9721-2
james bond theme (moby's re-version)
US CD promo elektra PRCD-9882-2
but that's about all i'd consider rare. if you want to see the rest, it's
up on my page, though i don't have moby remixes with my moby collection.

as i said above, that's 50 CDs not including remixes. i have faith
healer and i'm sure many others do too. as i also said, i know i don't
have anywhere near the largest collection. my guess is that would go
to daniel cerman, but i don't know.

I know it's a little late on the topic, but I was browsing through a Moby
chat transcript (http://chat.yahoo.com/chat/events/transcripts/moby.html)
and found this. It relates to the discussion a couple days ago about the
possible mainstreaming of Moby.
- -----
Pin125 asks: Because techno has taken America by storm and become a fad
now, do you think that it'll lose its older
listeners?
Moby: to be honest i have no idea. i would hope that people would respond
to the music and not worry about who else is
listening to it.
- -----
Oh, and two other things from that transcript that caught my attention:
1. He says that he's performed naked before? Is he joking? Any info on
this?
2. He mentions something a few times about child pornography and his love
of this. Again, is he joking? Does he expand on this elsewhere?
This is on topic right?

It's hard to describe music, but I think it's one of Moby's best remixes,
though I haven't heard the original so I don't know how different it is.
It's slow, with piano, synth, and string sounds. A guy with a slightly
guttural voice sings softly...

It was something like that in my case. I did read about Moby on a web page
of a person I like, and I told myself "Hey, you havent listened to him, maybe
is worthwhile". My first was EIW, too, and I liked a lot. I remember that
when I got EIW, on the store there was EIW(R), too, but I thought it would
be another edition of the same CD. Then, when I realized it was a remixed
version, couldnt find it, and took me months to see it again here. :)

Hah,, that's what happens to us european with a lot other things, Plov. And
well, here in Spain, there no that up-to-date releases as it could be in
UK, for example.

But, dont you find it exciting being always searching for, keeping informed,

Maybe the right counting of music would be the number of different edits
we've got.

You made me doubt about myself and my music tastes, but I admit that I was
Moby-virgin (oops! :) when I got my first Moby CD, so I hadnt listened
on the radio.
I try to be open minded to what music matters (and other things,
but they're off-topic), but I've got CDs whose first singles I heard on
the radio, and dont feel "common" or "mediocre" because of that. Dont
misunderstand me, I think it's good feeling special for that. Your idea
of "secret club" is right (and exciting) for me.

Just looking at other people (and to some extent to myself), I find that
not everybody has a music taste, or sense, to be able to select carefully.
You simply dont have enought time to stop, or talent. I find it similar to
having talent to learn playing an instrument. Not everybody can learn,
and only a few are really good at that.
I find it hard to explain, but I personally find it right for things to
stay where they are. There'll always be music for large audiences and
minories, and I think it's normal this wont change.
Jonathan.
P.S.: I dont know if my english isnt good enought, or my thoughts aren't
clear, or both. O:-)

Sorry about the crossposting..but I figured a few(maybe more) people from
each list would be interested in what I've done:
I've taken all the interviews and/or videos I've recorded over the years and
put what I wanted to save on one tape...Here's what's on it(in order):
Orbital: Halcyon, The Saint(2nd version I believe..the one w/ the 9
different screens), The Box
Meat Beat Manifesto: Helter Skelter '97, Interview on 120 Minutes("120
Minutes of Nothing), Asbestos Lead Asbestos
Orb: Perpetual Dawn
Electronic: Interview of Marr and Sumner on 120 Minutes, Forbidden City,
Disapointed
Pet Shop Boys: West End Girls
New Order: World
Electronic: Feel Every Beat
New Order: Regret
Electronic: Getting Away With It
Pet Shop Boys: Opportunities
FSOL: We Have Explosive
Orb: Asylum
Coldcut: More Beats & Pieces
Moby: James Bond Theme, Interview on 120 Minutes(1st time), That's When I
Reach For My Revolver
Pop Will Eat Itself: Interview of Clint on 120 Minutes("120 Minutes of
Nothing"), Ich Bin Ein Auslander
Public Enemy: Black Steel In The Hour Of Chaos, Bring The Noise(w/ Anthrax)
A few words..I don't exactly have the best editing tools..so there are
mistakes here and there..but every video is there(in all their entirety,
almost)..Since I did get some videos from Amp..some of the videos of their
weird mix/spin on it. Anyways..if anyone wants a dub of this..I'll be glad
to make them(sorry though..you'll get the whole thing..I don't have time to
take out bits and pieces for people)..I'm just asking for a few dollars(to
cover getting blank tapes and s/h)...Also..if anyone sees videos not here
but have them in their possesion(for example, Moby's "Go" or the first
version of "The Saint")..I'd be glad if I could get them :)..No copyrighted
material though..I'm still debating whether I want to put the MBM videos
from the Black Box Video Comp on a tape...Anyways..email me privately..and
we'll get this thing going...Thanks.
BTW, another tape is in the process..the EBN video remix of Coldcut's
"Timber" was on Amp recently..I want to save that. Lastly, if anyone has
questions..don't be afraid to ask :).
