so i got 'end of everything' after looking hard and long. got it second
hand (?) anyhow, just wondering why the difference in track listing
inbetweem the U.S. and U.K. version, and so far i noticed a different
arrangement for dog heaven. will the real 'end of everything' stand up? i
don't really care, they are both great and top my list of fave moby/etc.
releases.
just wondering....

Moby said since he had time between the UK and the US release to tinker with
End of Everything and Animal Rights, he did. Little Idiot, Animal Rights and
Voodoo Child were all recorded at the same sessions. For the record, he
considers the US End of Everything his favorite album of his own material
and the US version of Animal Rights definitive over the 2-disc UK version.
Of course, we're still all going to buy the imports, because we're nuts and
have to have everything. But Moby says the cheaper domestic ones are the
ones that count to him.

A friend and I were talking shop(music) before the Lowest of the Low tour
and he had mentioned that he had bought the Hackers 2 sndtrk recently and
that I should check it out if I hadn't already(I totally forgot about
it)..He mentioned it had Moby, Orb, Orbital, Prodigy, etc. I checked out
the track listing..Now I already have Firestarter, Toxygene, Go(who doesnt?
:) ), Cherry Pie, and Speed Freak on other cd's. Cdnow has 30 second ra
samples of each track..I listened to the other tracks..they sound
interesting..but it's hard to judge from just a 30 second sample. Are the
rest of the songs worth it to purchase the full album?
Ryan
P.S. Non-Moby: Chris Randall(frontman of Sister Machine Gun) is putting
out a solo release on his own label(Positron! Records). Here's how he
describes the cd:
The first record from Positron! is also the first full-length solo release
from SMG frontman Chris Randall. This record is
a collection of electronic moods. Not to be confused with the current crop
of electronica-oriented releases, Micronaut
pays homage to the more traditional synthesizer-oriented artists like
Jean-Michelle Jarre, Vangelis and Kraftwerk, with
a little Orbital thrown in for good measure. Percolating analog rhythms
support a delicate structure of electronically
synthesized head-trips. This isn't your mother's elevator music. Release
date March 31, 1998.
He does have 3 ra samples(available for download)..Please check it out..and
if you can..please purchase the cd...I'm not being paid to do this..just
wanna pass on great music :). BTW..even though the release date is the
31st..It won't be found in stores..You'll have to purchase it from Chris.
Randall's homepage: http://home.att.net/~chrisrandall/
Positron! Records: http://home.att.net/~chrisrandall/positron.htm(He is
looking for demo's too..and considering he does know a lot of ppl in the
"industry"..Zaq...Ryu..etc..It can't hurt to send him your stuff :). Let
him know I sent ya :) )

OK, i will go so far to admit that the new goldie is pretty boring, especially
the first cd. ANd, i will aslo go as far to admit that "Inner City Life" was a
pretty boring CD, but that isn't enough to base an opinion on. What really
changed me into absolutely loving goldie was the Timeless 2 CD set, it really
is wonderful, and if one likes jungle in any respect, they would go out and
buy it.

I remember seeing goldie perform live on Mtv back last summer and thinking
it was the most boring thing I had ever seen. I didn't get the concept:
techno music you can't dance to? I can appreciate nearly anything as art,
but goldie seemed to use a misappropriation of form.
I have often lamented the fact that Moby has not released much in the way of
jungle/dnb or acid rave/break beat, mainly because those are the styles that
are garnering the most popularity and airplay right now. But where he has
released music in those genres (Unloved Symphony, Dark, JBT), it is usually
better than what's on Mtv, thanks to Moby's reliance good song structure and
melody.

i don't want to start a war here...but it's hard for me to remain quiet
on this topic. half of goldie's "saturnzreturn" is total crap. that half is
the drum and bass half. the rest of it is some of the most emotional,
powerful, inspirational, personal, beautiful, and UNCOOL music i have ever
heard and that is why i think goldie is extremely talented at what he does.
why does techno music have to be dancable?
do you not like "the end of everything" then?
i see alot of moby in goldie's new album. he sings about personal things.
he's eclectic. he's spiritual. of course he can't play an instrument,
but he can arrange like a mofo!

- ---SNIPPET----------------------------------------------
Hi, my name's Moby. A few weeks ago I was doing an interview and a
journalist asked me, over the last year, what records have I loved. And, as
shameful as this is, the only things I could think of were Puff Daddy, Spice
Girls, Chumbawamba, Hanson, etc. And I know I should probably have a better
appreciation for cool, esoteric underground music, but, to be honest, if I
look at my relationship to pop music the only... I mean to music in general,
the only stuff I've ever really loved is pop music. And not even in just a
revisionist sense of liking you know, Abba, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones
and them sort of stopping at 1985 but liking pop music basically from George
Gershwin to the Spice Girls. So, that's my shameful confession and rant,
that deep down, I have the taste of a thirteen year old girl. Thank you.

How ironic..... the above clip was taken from www.theflash.com. Don't
believe me? Go check it out yourself.
1. Click on "mtv music news"
2. Click on the banner that has a picture of Moby and says "'blow-hard' -
Moby's guilty pleasure? Pop Music!"
3. Go all the way down the list of quotes. (They apparently saved the best
for last.)
4. Do this soon before they nix the link!
So, my friends, do you believe this? To think that all the while when we
were bantering on for weeks about getting the Sean "Puffy" Combs topics off
the list, MOBY himself was secretly listening to "Puffy Combs"? And what??
Excuse me? Now we have to bring the SPICE GIRLS, Chumbawamba, and HANSON
into it!?!?!? What the heck!!!! Are these the artists we all secretly love
but would never admit to it? (I must admit, now, that I like the new
ChumawUmba song "Amnesia" - really cool lyrics and feel. And there is ONE
Spice Girls song I have a MODERATE and SLIGHT attraction to - I think it's
called "say you'll be there". But for Hanson, well.. I cannot say I have
any liking for their stuff... Does anybody think this was a joke? I don't
think so personally. It is Moby. But is it possible that he was kidding?
Pulling a prank on us? Someone who is friends with Moby, PLEASE sort this
one out for us!! I gotta know!! What with all the talk of Puffy Combs, we
were actually talking about Moby related stuff then!!! Horrors!!

Tell me it ins't so! I went there, and it IS mtv.com that is

My image is shattered. No, I'm in denial- no way it's true!!!!

things they would normally keep secret too! AAAHHHHH!!!
I think he must have said it as some kind of joke on everyone-

I saw that episode of 1515 on MTV, and although sickened by the
thought of my favorite artist digging Hanson, just shows us how dfferent
tastes affect even the best musicians. But, on a personal note, I think
the Hanson boys are a sure 1 Album sensation if not the Anti-Christ,
that Chumbawumba has moments of "okayness", that Puffy is a Money
hungry, brilliant producer, and that the Spice girls are indeed absolute
thoughtless internet porn fuel with NO real musicianship. And again,
it's an opinion, and of course, I am entitled to that. Now music that
deserves mentioning in my mind is, Orbital, Chemical Brothers, Crystal
Method, Olive, Underworld, Older New Order, Peter Murphy, Bauhaus, Joy
Division, DK, Opus III, and of course Moby/Voodoo Child/Lopez/Barracuda.

You know, I personally couldn't give a shit if Moby likes Chumbawamba,
Hanson, et al. Fact is, I personally am getting sick and tired of bands
or singing groups (or Puffy, as he fits into neither category) getting so
much negative press. Sure, the albums they make may suck to you or me,
but somebody likes them. For chrissake (sorry)....people like what they
like. Personally, I'd be content if the Smashing Pumpkins or Nirvana got
the same kind of press. But again, that's just me. I know people like
that music, and I respect that opinion. I must admit that I don't like
the Spice Girls, Chumbawamba, Hanson, Puffy, or any of those other
groups, but that's just my opinion. Whether Moby was kidding when he said
that...who knows? I mean, if Axl Rose is listening to Prodigy, anything
is possible. If you don't like somebody's choice in music...be it Moby's
or mine or John Q. Public's, just let it go. Sit in your room and listen
to something no one would ever like, but that you can't help but love. It
happens to all of us.

I would like that much better too! That is what gets forced down
