What 2 songs are they from Boys for Pele, i can't think of any
particular track on that cd that would be considered 'ambient.'
...tho, while we're on this subject, it would be awesome to have Moby do
some remixes or something w/Tori, like Armand Van Helden & bt did...and
i'm still waiting for the day Bjork & Moby work together. That would be
incredible.

Really? So the spanish word for disco is feminine?

Not exactly. Record (disco) is masculine, and discotheque (discoteca -> disco)
is femenine. We say "vamos a la disco" (let's go to disco), but actually,
is more common "ir de marcha" (go to have fun going out) :)

yes, pele is a Hawaiian goddess, the goddess of the Volcanoes, and a very
important one to the hawaiian natives (in fact I think THE most
important). Anyway, according to tradition (as I am sure you have seen in
some movies at some point) boys and men were sacrificed to pele by
jumping into the cauldron of an active or semi-active volcano. The title
of the disc refers to those sacrifices. Sorry for the completely Non-Moby
post, but someone asked and i felt compelled to help out. I won't do it
again.

Pele is the volcano Goddess in Hawaii. in the earlier Pagan practices in
Hawaii, boys were sacrificed to the angry Goddess to appease her. She also
likes liquor and flowers. in some cases, she is seen as an old woman,
others a young woman. it is also said that she actually existed, moving
from island to island until she got to Mt. Kilauea. The customs of
sacrificing young boys links to when she was alive. She liked sleeping with
many of the young chiefs, and got angry when the refused her. Some ppl in
Hawaii still follow some of the practices, although no males are sacrificed
anymore. Everytime she erupts, they throw bottles of her fav. liquor
(forget which one), and her anger (the lava) always stops at a certain kind
of flowers, which are her favorite. Also, if you take part of Her home with
you, great misfortune will come to you. Tourists took volcanic rocks home
w/ them and immediately sent them back because of bad luck.
i am also a big fan of tori. it would be interesting if they collaborated
together..... anyways, sorry to take up mobility space, but i wanted to
answer this Q. i love reading myths and i just happened to have one of
Pele.
Blessed Be,
Plovious

Subject: (mobility) Madonna/Moby
If you get the chance, and haven't bought the new Madonna album yet (Ray of
Light), go listen to it at a store.. listen to track 5, called "Skin"...
it's Mobyesque at certain points. The album, in my opinion, also has
influences in it from Depeche Mode albums, Erasure, and general
"electronica" itself. This is heavily due to the producer of most of the
tracks, William Orbit. (Did we already talk about this? I'm on two other
mailing lists, and it sometimes becomes difficult to remember...) It's a
pretty good album, by dance standards, in my opinion, with all due respect.
And also, while I'm talking about Moby influences, something else: someone
asked about the "new" Front 242 remix compilation "Mut@ge Mix@ge" one day...
well if you haven't picked it up yet, I STRONGLY suggest it... Especially
for track 8, the Underworld Dance Mix of "Happiness".... VERY dancey tune,
and if you like Moby, you will like this track. Plus there's those cool
Prodigy mixes on there too... So anyway, have a nice day. RRR aka delobbo.

I don't know where, but I thought I would mention that I bought
the 7" vinyl single for TWIRFM(Revolver) because it had an interesting
b-side, "Whip It" (Death Metal Version).
It's green with a reddevil evilninga moby on the front...
I found it in the local indie/import/used store, and yes it is the
Devo song being covered, and no it's not really death metal.
Maybe that was a joke, but Moby was inclined to play a Slayer song
on the Big Top tour when I saw him and I heard him do a Motorhead
song back in 95, he really has a wide range of musical tastes.
As far as goldie being boring, if I were to base my judgement on
the only Goldie CD I ever bought "Inner City Life" then I would
have to agree that I was very bored by it.
