Someone I know asked me if there was a song by Moby called "tattoo".... but
she said she may have heard it wrong... Here's what she wrote me:
"I went to a laser/music show last year and they played this really good
(loud, thumping, sexy) song and when it was over the announcer said it was a
song called tattoo and that it was by Moby. Ever since I have searched, but
I guess he said it wrong or I heard it wrong. That sucks."
I have been trying to think of songs that sound like "tattoo", but have come
up shortchanged.. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!! RRR aka delobbo

On the last tour Moby mentioned before several of his new unreleased
songs that they would be on his next album, I remember three of them
that were fast furious dance tunes and he described them as "here's
another disco tune" or "once again, we start with the kick drum".
They were great songs, more like his early stuff or "Drop A Beat".
I have a recording of one of them in realaudio:

I've done some new Moby remixes. They are tracks from
the Ambient cd. They are "Bad Days" and "80".
Maybe we will make another Thanks cd and these could
be included.
For Bad Days I sampled the melody and stretched it a little
so it's a much faster BPM. It's very trancy but keeps the same
vibe as the original.

Cool - does anyone on this list live in the UK and have fairly recent
live tapes of Moby as I haven't heard him in ages!
Does anyone also know if he still Dj's?

There's a version of it -- "Go (Live at the Splash Club)" -- on the Come on

Yeah I'm in UK, it's very difficult to get 12"s and older CDs here. Having
said that I've got a couple.
There's little support for Moby where I live, all my friends reckon he's not
very good but they haven't actually listened to him and anyway they all like
Oasis who are utter shit (pardon my language)

i don't know about best buy, but i hate walmart, simply because i hate
censorship. go to
<http://www.walmartsucks.com>
and go to the part where it sez something like 42 ways to do at
walmart to piss people off, it's SOOOOOO funny.
I will not talk about goldie no more. I promise.
Independent stores are the place to be definitely. But i think the
best big store is circuit city. at least the one in north haven ct.
that has aphex's first cd selected ambient works for $22, and aphex's
"classics" for $17. The moby selection sux tho, only eiw, animal and 2
copies of ILTS at last count.
Media play, where i got the infamous saturnzreturn cd, sux. They have
some good stuff for some good prices, and some rare stuff, but i just
didn't like it. Their moby section is alright though.
Borders has a LOT of cds, but they cost too much. same for the Virgin
Megastore.
Really, when the new Prod came out i went to a virgin megastore to buy
it and they were playing this phat drum n bass track that i'd heard
about 3 times before...i asked the guy what it was and the dipshit
said prodigy...of course it wasn't...
You guys are sounding like chumbawamba and their indiestore thing. I
mean, i know they said it's alright to steal from a megastore and not
an indie that can't cope with the loss, and that's nothing like what u
all sed, but whatever. then virgin restricted their album to behind
the desk..
The only indie stores in hamden ct are exile on main street (DA
BOMB!!!) and music box (ok.) mb has a big moby section, about as big
as media play. Exile's sux tho. I did get ILTS for like $8 used there
(the promo copy, that has that "return to record label" thing on it)
of course, i got EIW for $1 at the goodwill store right near exile!!!
heh heh heh....
thanx for the tape andrea

ceci n'est pas un crackpipe
derived from
ceci n'est pas un pipe
its my alteration to the line written by Megritte (a surrealists) on a work of
art. the painting itself was of a pipe (a normal one....no crack) and beneath
it was the phrase "ceci n'est pas un pipe", which means "this is not a pipe",
the irony being that it was a *picture* of a pipe, and therefore not actually
a pipe (at least thats how i've heard it interpereted.)
oh, and in reply to the person who compared my like of bestbuy to the vietnam
war or whatever...--
i do not like bestbuy due to the fact that my friend works there...i had gone
there long before. and i find it quite one-sided to only critisize my
example, when at least 2 more mentioned a friend who worked at an independant
store which shut down. again, i like my music cheap--i dont care who sells it
to me.
anyway, that was more info than anyone really wanted. again, i apologize for
a completely non-moby post. i hope this Best Buy (it *is* 2 words, i think)
thread ends soon...the two sides of this argument are so faar apart that its
useless to argue.

And yet, Best Buy has Lopez in stock. I've seen it in the local store here
in Little Rock, Ark., and they feature the "Emptiness" single on-line.

WalMart's selection sucks royally. You have to sell hundreds of thousands of
records before they will even consider stocking your cds. But Best Buy I
don't mind so much, even at the expense of the indie record store, possibly.
There were a couple around here that went under when Best Buy moved into
town, but their selection and prices probably would have driven them out of
business in a couple more years anyway. The ones that remain are the ones I
prefer for specialty items (imports, bootlegs, used cds, promo items, vinyl,
etc.) which have enough of a niche carved out that Best Buy isn't real
competition for them.
