To whom it may concern:
Just a suggestion... It's one thing to post dozens of messages in a
day on the Moby mailing list that aren't about Moby. But please at
least don't quote headers, signatures, and other extraneous text.
You know, headers are the lines beginning with "Subject:", "From:",
"To:", "Date:", etc. It just adds a bunch of unnecessary garbage to
messages that are already off-topic. It is good practice to quote
only relevant text, if anything, from previous messages. It Saves
space & time, and looks neater.
BTW, since we're discussing all kinds of other people, it might be
of interest to some list members that Depeche Mode is splitting up.
There will be no more tours, and the final DM release will be an
upcoming greatest hits album, according to an anonymous poster on
the "Devoted" mailing list, who claims to have obtained this
information from very reliable sources. :(
ObMoby:
I don't remember if this has been mentioned before, but while I was
browsing in a music store, I found an Elektra compilation called
_Maximum Electronica Vol. 1_. [cringe cringe, I know!] It includes
two Moby tracks: "Feeling So Real" by Moby and "Dog Heaven (lopez
mix)" by Voodoo Child. Does anybody know what mix of FSR this is?

Yeah. I was thinking about adding Moby teaming with Hanson (remix
of "MmmBop"?), but that is getting a bit stupid there. Anyway, isn't David
Hasselhoff the most popular singer in Germany? Some people will listen to
anything, won't they? : )
One question, though, concerning Hanson. Would the Dust Brothers
really be considered Electronic-type? They produce, but that's really about
all they're known for. They're good, though.
One comment, too. I got a message about Depeche Mode splitting
up. That's sad, especially considering how good that group is/was. "ULTRA"
has to be one of the best albums of `97. It was equally sad to hear about
David Gahan's attempted suicides last year. I read an interview with him in
SPIN magazine around the time "ULTRA" was finally released (after hearing
"Barrel Of A Gun" a trillion times on a million different stations) and his
comments really inspired me. (Maybe David could join forces with Moby on a
couple of tracks???)

its possible - lets look at the similarities:
they're both vegan
they're both shaved-head
they're both "techno" musicians (what, you wanted me to say electronica?)
they're both cute in that bald, vegan, electronic artist sort of way
they're both known for remixing EVERYONE
they're both tattood in that "unmentionable area" - ok, maybe not
maybe they are really the same guy!

well... in an off-shot way you could - cos the Chemical Bros used to be
called the Dust Brothers - but the other Dust Brothers kind of fixed that.

will there be another one? Hmmm....The 1979 mix Moby did was absolutely

It was "Walking In My Shoes". Also, I've gathered from my brief
excursions into DM-hyperfanatic-land that these mixes have actually
made it out onto bootlegs somewhere! But which ones and how to
obtain them I do not know. One DM fan that claimed to have Moby's
WIMS remixes along with basically everything DM ever did, released
or not, was unwilling to part with or even make a copy of them.
If anyone can come up with info on (or actual recordings of) Moby's
"Walking In My Shoes" remixes, please speak up!
Moby's remixes were not released supposedly because they were too
different from the original song. Well, I have the WIMS single
and its remixes are redundant and lame. They should have released
Moby's tracks, even if only on some limited or promo CD/record.
Shame on them.

Yes... I wish Moby would get back to making remixes like this, and the
even better ones like he did long ago for Eskimos & Egypt, the Pet Shop
Boys, etc. My ears hunger for some good ol' NEW Moby techno sounds,
not overpromoted covers, remakes, and polished oldies. (I don't have

I didn't realize just how much remixing Moby did. Well, a few months
back, SPIN Magazine did a special section on Techno music, and the people
they believed would carry it into the future. Among the people they chose
were DJ Shadow, Todd Terry, Joey Beltram (never heard of him), JOSH
WINK!!!!!!, BT, Rabbit In The Moon, Crystal Method, Dust Brothers, RZA (of
Wu-Tang Clan), on and on......(It's the December `97 issue) and in all,
there were 22 they chose. Unfortunately, Moby was number.....22! I don't
know if they did it in the order of talent (according to them) or what, but
if you get the chance, and haven't read it, it's interesting.

Yeah. Bad Religion, sick of it all, Misfits...they're all good
groups. Moby really brought out the punk style in his songs. It surprised
some.
Matter of fact, Matt, a friend of mine, was talking to another kid
(Kaleb), and Moby got brought up. Well, Kaleb said "Moby sucks!" (Blasphemy
on this mailing list, but I'm just quoting this guy). He said he only
listens to punk. Matt said "Listen to Animal Rights. It's punk." The other
kid about went insane, trying to believe a "Techno artist" did a punk
album. He's never even heard Moby, so I should go off on him for saying
shit like "Moby Sucks!"
MOBY ROCKS!

Nah. just laugh at him and his ignorance. Stick it in one day when he's
around and unsuspecting. When he starts getting all agitated and jumping
around the room and yell out "This Rocks!" Then you tell him it's that
"lame-o techno artist" Moby that he said sucked.

Subject: (mobility) To sum it all up....
What the dillyo??? Listen, I've been on here since day 3 and I just want
to comment on all this shi* on this list. First, the Moby remix of
SoundGarden's "Dusty" is on the Soundgarden single "Blow Up the Outside
World." It is a UK import single and it is the first of two (for those who
don't know, most UK singles are paired together). The track listing is 1.
BUtOW 2. Dusty Moby mix. If anyone really wants it I'll MP3 it. Email me at
JadenX@aol.com (not to the list, if anyone responds to the list about it you
will not get one, i hate those people BTW)
Second, the Moby remix of "Until It Sleeps" is on couple of singles, the
one I have is the German CD single pt 2 of "Until It Sleeps." Track listing:
1. UIS 2. Kill/Ride Medley 3. UIS (Herman Mellville Mix) I'll MP3 that too if
anyone wants that (read instructions above).
Third, if you talk about music know what you are talking about.
Fourth, Daft Punk is good to dance too but you all have to admit their
videos are da bomb. Da Funk, Around the World and Burnin' are probably the
best videos I've seen in a long time and their all from the same band, mad
props.
Fifth, Roni Size is now constantly in my CD player (I buy about 5 CD a
week, just so you can get an understanding of my love of music) For those of
you who never heard anything by Roni Size just read these phat lyrics:
"Do you think that you can you can hold on when the beats get too strong and
you feel that you need help to move along?
Do you think that you can you can hang tough when the rhythm gets rough and
the DJ says 'I've think you had enough'?
Do you think that you can digest when I start to digress, better get yourself
a lyric-proof vest
Do you think that you can compete when you hear the phat beat, your decievin'
'em like an athlete" -From "Railing" (BTW, is the name of the album Reprazent,
New Forms, or both?? My guess is Reprazent)
Sixth, sorry about the lack of Moby so I'll through in shi* here. When I
met him at HOB I asked him if he liked The Simpsons (Best show EVER) He
looked at me funny and answered, "Religiously." Considered how into religion
he is, that was phat. He continued with, "Go ahead, quiz me." I couldn't
think of anything good so I said "Who's this?" And pointed to my hat. He
answered "Oh, Ganesh. (Elephant-looking Buddhist God, It's a Beastie Boy Hat)
Remember the one where Homer was in the Kwik-E-Mart and he offered the staute
of Ganesh a peanut??" We both started laughing and I made reference to the
new season where Homer dressed up as Ganesh, he replied with "I haven't been
able to watch the new season but I have to see that one."
Seventh, no more talk about that band with the "controversial" video, I
am contractally obligated NOT to say their name. (To quote someone on this
list, "The black guy with the makeup, the other black guy, the white guy with
the cane, the white guy with the hair." Funny shit man.) Don't get me
wrong, I love their old shit but FOTL has got to go, my guess is something
called Maverick.
Eigth, a while back DJ TRIPP mentioned a comp. called "The
Corners Of The Mouth" featuring Voodoo Child's Frog. Does anyone have access
to an extra copy for myself? (Instructions for replying in the 1st paragraph)
Ninth, got the JBT single and the Grooverider Jeep remix is pretty phat.
Good Drum&Bass style. I also got a Bjork single (Bachelorette pt2 for those
scoring at home) and it contains a good remix by Grooverider. Also listed as
"Jeep" remix. Anyone with info about this band Grooverider?? (Same
instructions as before)
Tenth, CJ Bolland's The Analogue Theatre, and Conan O'Brian's Live from
6A, are my pick's of the week.
Eleventh, I'm also MP3'ng other Moby remixes (email for wants):
Aerosmith's "Falling In Love (is hard on the knees) [Moby Flawed Mix]",
Blur's "Beetlebum (Moby's Minimal House Mix)", David Bowie's "Dead Man Walking
(Moby Mix 1)" and Smashing Pumpking "1979 Moby Mix".
Twelveth, peace out.
