What the dillyo??? Listen, I've been on here since day 3 and I
just want
to comment on all this shi* on this list. First, the Moby remix of
SoundGarden's "Dusty" is on the Soundgarden single "Blow Up the Outside
World." It is a UK import single and it is the first of two (for those
who
don't know, most UK singles are paired together). The track listing is
1.
BUtOW 2. Dusty Moby mix. If anyone really wants it I'll MP3 it. Email
me at
JadenX@aol.com (not to the list, if anyone responds to the list about it
you
will not get one, i hate those people BTW)
Third, if you talk about music know what you are talking about.
Fourth, Daft Punk is good to dance too but you all have to admit
their
videos are da bomb. Da Funk, Around the World and Burnin' are probably
the
best videos I've seen in a long time and their all from the same band,
mad
props.
Fifth, Roni Size is now constantly in my CD player (I buy about 5
CD a
week, just so you can get an understanding of my love of music) For
those of
you who never heard anything by Roni Size just read these phat lyrics:
Sixth, sorry about the lack of Moby so I'll through in shi* here.
Twelveth, peace out.
- - -Carmen B.
KOA Ramblings
AKA DJ SlipNip
Well...
Thirteenth....
Who is this pompous ass??
This list doesn't need condescending people like this one.
Also, the use of terms like "Phat" and "Da Bomb" makes me nautious...
Finally, the word is "throw" not "through".
Try school, buddy!

I guess no one else has noticed this... While on Christmas break, I noticed
a CD by the Insane Clown Posse (not one of my favorite bands) has as its
cover the mega-distorted photo of Moby from the back of his "Go" CD single.
Could someone else try to find this so I'll know I'm not crazy?

i found on cdnow an australian bons single that (if i
remember correctly) has the mixes that were
supposedly on the us single (which as far as i know
never has/will be released). has anyone heard the
aus. single? are the extra mixes worth the 10-15 bucks?
also ive been looking for the revolver remix cd. i
dont know if it's us or uk but i have the 2 muteuk
singles. the revolver remixes has (i think) 6 mixes.
again i ask if anyone has this and if the mixes are
worth 10-15 bucks (since i'd have to order it from
cdnow (shipping..blech)
have a nice day

Yeah, but imagine Ol' Blue Eyes trying to sing "You"?!?! Or even
"Come On Baby"? At any rate, it would be pretty interesting to hear them
team up. Too bad Frankie isn't doing too great right now.
Moby and Madonna? I heard her song "Secret" on the radio today, and
I was just wondering who could do the best remix of that? I'd say either
Moby or Tricky.
One last thing. If Moby is a Christian, then why isn't he more
widely regarded as one among other Christian singers? (Like Michael W.
Smith, Bob Carlisle, etc.) There are a lot of good Christian bands, like
the Supertones, Jars of Clay, etc., and I don't see why Moby couldn't be
included among these artists?

I saw the Movie "Double Tap" and asked Moby if there was anyway he could get
me a copy of the soundtrack. He said they weren't going to release it but if I
were to write MCT MNGMT C/O Moby he would send me a tape of anything I wanted.
So I'm assuming that he should be able to get me other rarities. I'm not sure
if everyone on this list should jump on writing him there but i've sent my
letter asking for The soundtrack i mentioned, the song "I need you", The DM
mixes and a couple of other things....maybe i'll get them. i'm willing to make
copies of these songs for others.

I find it amusing that Instinct and Caroline have so much in common. The big
thing with techno back in 90 was that there weren't alot of dance acts that
had the new sound down....so what did they do? Change the names of the
recording artists so they could release more singles and seem like one person
wasn't monopolizing the dance board. Moby and the Lords Of Acid have so many
names and psuedo-names that if they tried to compile all their work we would
still have to buy a 15 CD set of each of their stuff(not that i'm complaining
:) ) . Now it's 1998 and the dance music industry is up to their ears in
techno-freaks from Africa to Montana ! And why might you ask? Because of
people like Moby. the man who added a face to techno, a heart to electronics
and love to the people.
almost 10 years with Moby and it seems that it will never be long enouhg...
thank you Moby

what other cds does moby have out besides "everything, early underground,
animal rights, and i like to score?". i know there is more, but i don't

but says something about love and joy? i heard it at his show and didn't
know it.?!?!
I hate to do it but i'm gonna talk about prodigy now. :( i also like
their early stuff a lot better than their FOTL cd.
one last thing! the 303... i don't think anyone is gonna have a used one,
so where could i get a new one and how much would it set me back?

Moby's actually addressed this several times; albeit in a rather roundabout
way. Besides the fact that he doesn't consider himself a conventional
Christian he tries not to infuse religion into his music. The obvious
exception is Everytime You Touch Me of course, but for the most part his
tracks have been based around intelligent soul-searching and *just music*,
not religion....

Subject: (mobility) re: music reccomendations
well... if you like moby's really dancy-techno stuff, I'd reccomend:
"Technohead" by Church of Extacy
"Headsex" by Technohead
"Tip of the Iceberg" or "Love Is Everywhere" by GTO
the first two have a definite "gabber" element to them - if that makes a
difference - althought, usually when most people talk down about gabber, I
don't find either COE or Technohead really applies. The technohead album
also has a "happy-hardcore" root of it (one of the originating artists of
this movement) it also doesn't apply much to the quality-less talk some
give the HH movement
the third have a much more pop-ish techno element to them (sort of along
the lines of Everytime you Touch me and I'm Feeling So Real) They are
also not as psychotically fast as the first two
On a similar note - Much like other really good artists, I don't think you
are going to find anyone who sounds a LOT like Moby that is as good, but I
do think the above have some similar musical qualities
I think they are all really good - but, I come from the school of
Newman-Wells - so I have a bias - but that really shouldn't make a
difference. Anyway, all three groups are comprised of Lee Newman and
Micheal Wells - but are along the lines of Moby's side-projects, in each
has a different twist in its music

I myself prefer the Crystal Method, Future Sound of London,

hasn't released anything (except that David Bowie song) since "the
Perfect Drug".
I also can't seem to think of any bands that sound like Moby,

5:35 Miserablism (Electro Mix)
which was a b-side to "Was It Worth It?" It seems like this mix is very
popular on the PSB list, even though it's changed radically from the

He's right to note how awful that sleeve is. That has to be the most
un-Mobylike cover Instinct has assembled, even considering _Moby_ and
_Ambient_.
I'm not crazy about the '70s-ish _I Like to Score_ sleeve either, actually.

I'll recommend my all-time favorite techno album, 'Richard D James
Album' (US version) by Aphex Twin. It's got some exciting rhythms
and compeling melodies. While I'm at it, I will recommend 'Electric
Ladyland' by the Jimi Hendrix Experience. It's not techno, but I think
it is some of the best music ever made. I think everyone who
appreaciates music should have that album. It is a timeless piece of
work that was way ahead of its time. Are there any other Jimi fans on
this list?

I'd recommend Orbital, especially 'In Sides', but also all other Orbital,
Meat Beat Manifesto, especially 'Original Fire' and older 'Satyricon' if
you want dancier stuff, Lords of Acid is still around, Underworld, Autechre
and Future Sound of London for your quiter techno/ambient needs, 808 State
'Gorgeous' has some good beats but is marred by some cheesy vocals here and
there (haven't tried their new-ish one yet), the new Recoil cd 'Unsound
Methods' is great (Alan Wilder formerly of Depeche Mode's solo effort) , on
the quieter side but some of it is quite upbeat. You can hear some Recoil
snippets on their website, and sometimes CD NOW has soundbites avail.
