  117. I don't know.... I'm sure I'm in the minority on this, but I actually *like*
  118. Green Day. That kind of poppy punk is actually what I usually listen to -
  119. I'm a punk and ska man meself. What first attracted me to Moby is how he
  120. managed to shift genres on EIW, but still pull the whole album together as a
  121. cohesive element. Moby's actually the only "techno" act I listen to.
  122.  
  123. Because of this, I did find AR disappointing but for what I'm sure are 
  124. different reasons others on here found it disappointing. It's just that it
  125. sounds so similar to a lot of the other stuff I listen to on a regular basis.
  126. (Okay, not on the poppy side, but more on the hardcore side.)

  169. I love Green Day.  Bad Religion, Pennywise, all those great Melodic Punk rock 
  170. bands are awesome!  I like Moby's style of rock, but I'd prefer the punk rock 
  171. bands anyday...

  368. rights, it's just that it's a faster paced rock album.  but, there are
  369. several punk-ish songs like "heavy flow".

  458. well, at first, moby thought raves were wonderfull. they were happy, 
  459. communal (sp?), and open to every kind of style. he didn't think ecstasy 
  460. was bad at all. then, raves became more and more drug oriented, and the 
  461. music less and less open... oh, here's a quote:
  462. "well, yeah, that was one of the great things about it innitally. i 
  463. watched how the dance scene evolved in the states almost in line with the 
  464. drugs. at first it was so ecstasy-fulled, which ment it was all lovong 
  465. celebration, wonderful to be part of, even thought i never did ecstasy. 
  466. thatn the focus shifted to acid, ketemine, pcp and pot-smoking. you could 
  467. see that in six months it went from this energetic celebratory thing to 
  468. kids curled up in the corner rocking back and forth. that's about the 
  469. time i lost interest."

  472. i played at a festival in sweden, and they had two tents the day i 
  473. played. they had athe speed-metal tent and the dance tent. a friend and i 
  474. went to see biohazard play in the speed metal tent, and there were about 
  475. 8,000 people slam-dancing like crazy, jumping up and down, everybody just 
  476. having a wonderful time. then we went to the dance tent, and st. etienne 
  477. were playing, and 5,000 people were standing still. that biohazard was 
  478. closer to a rave than anything i've been to in the past two years."

  607. charactatures.  the book was given free at a local record
  608. shop to promote elektra's bands.  there is a little bio
  609. on each of them inside, and the feature of the book is a
  610. moby coloring contest.  there is a blank page inside with
  611. a bunch of moby drawings that you have to "be as creative
  612. as you can" when coloring.  first prize is 5 new EEG releases,
  613. and autogrpahed moby poster, and an autographed bjork
  614. cd (whoopie.).  anyone else see this?

  641. Yeah, I saw it.  I wasn't sure what to think of it, I had mixed
  642. emotions.  I haven't seen many performances by Moby so I didn't know
  643. what do expect.  First of all... Viva Variety isn't the most prestigious
  644. show on TV (but who cares I guess).  Moby performed well and looked good
  645. but the lyrics weren't that clear or understandable.

  647. I only watched the performance once.  I've recorded and have lent it to
  648. a friend... I need to watch it again and see how I feel then.

  759. Not that I know of.  MTV posted some dates a week ago and there were
  760. only eight or so.  I've posted the info on my web pages along with some
  761. other stuff that Moby has been doing.  Check it out.  (:

  763. I've also added a bunch of wave samples for the remixes that he has
  764. recently been doing for other artists (Aerosmith, David Bowie, John
  765. Lydon).  I wish I could do MP3's but my CD-ROM won't let me and that
  766. would eat up my storage space quick.  BTW, the samples aren't
  767. permanent... they will be cycled through as new material is released.

  1147. Absolutely. It has what I consider to be the best Orb track ever --
  1148. "Majestic (millwall mix)". I can't think of any bad tracks on that CD. Plus
  1149. it has a hefty booklet with artist interviews and such. It's a pity that
  1150. the other TEX CDs weren't as good.

  1247. okay, this is non moby, but it pertains to mobility, cause if i don't get
  1248. the help, i can't read it anymore.  I'm on my family's machine now, because
  1249. i just broke mine.  it was a compaq laptop.  133 processor 16 meg ram 2
  1250. video 12 inch screen 12 x cdrom.  pretty loaded.  anyway. i just broke it.
  1251. had to format the whole thing.  in the process, i lost my cdrom driver. the
  1252. only copy of any cdrom driver i have now is mscdex.exe.  it won't find my
  1253. cdrom.  I need a better one.  if anyone is using a compaq, or not using
  1254. mscdex for their driver, please write me at fanboy at tiac dot net.  10q
