Title: "That's When I Reach For My Revolver"
Well, I still need the rest of the song. But here is the intro to "That's
When I Reach For My Revolver" as done by Moby. I've never heard the
original, so I don't know how close this version is to it.
It's only an E chord, so it's pretty easy.

If anyone has the rest, that'd be cool if you'd send it to me.
Thanks,

can you write out the tab? or at least what strings you are playing.
I still can't figure out the chorus ("That's when I reach for my

I figured out the verse, it is E/D/C.

Subject: (mobility) Moby's Chicago Setlist and a quick summary...
I was lucky to catch Moby for the Q101 Jamboree festival (he was the first
act!) and as far as what he played, here goes, it was a half and half set
(techno vs. punk) and amazing to watch. He's very talented. He played on
Sunday the 25th.
Setlist, no order, just memory as I look at my CD's:
Next is the E
Ah Ah (amazing opening tune...the live drummer really kicked butt)
Feeling So Real
All That I Need is To Be Loved (EIW version))
Everytime You Touch Me (explanation below)
Bring Back My Happiness (I love this song to death!)
Heavy Flow
You
Come On Baby (as he introduced it "A song about fucking")
That's When I Reach for My Revolver
Highlights:
- ---He hasn't lost the urge to perform live techno. The techno tunes were
with the whole band and it added alot to the set. He was crazy as
usual...screaming into the mike "Can You Feel It!!!" and the like.
- ---He brought some girl (chosen at random) on stage to dance to a country
tune with him...turns out he had the band play "Everytime You Touch Me" and
he waltzed with her then spoke the lyrics to her.
- ---There was this "catwalk" like thing from the side of the stage that
separated the crowd. He noticed that some friends were attracting attention
to each other and said "Hey, do you wanna go over there, I think you're
friends are waiting." So he helped them (2 girls) on the stage and they
immediately hugged them. He then escorted them to the other side of the
catwalk. What a nice guy...
- ---One extra song, his own 1 and a half minute version of Black Sabbath's
"Paranoid" Skipping a few verses, but getting the feeling down. Ozzy would
have been proud.
As far as the festival went...the day was terrible because of the sucky
weather. It was 55 degrees, overcast, and a chance of rain. My friends and I
left early because of that and we were getting tired of Veruca Salt. The
bands I wanted to see already played too (Ech and the Bunnymen, Republica,
Jamiroquai).
Anyone else with their info on the show?
Later, its been a while since I last posted, but a working man must work to
keep himself going. Don't worry, I'm still here.

ah yes, the show. i also was lucky enough to catch moby, who was arguably the
best thing at the entire show (at least if you had lawn seats for the main
stage). I left right after Beck played, so i have no clue as to how erasure
did, and i could give a rats ass about bush. Anyhoo, my friends and i were at
the "buzz stage," whaere moby played, for every act but social distortion. We
figured the crowd at republica was bad enough (there was a ton of crowd
surfing, and during this time my watch band broke :( ) so we'd be back for
echo and the bunnymen, who was the second best act. Oh well. Moby just had a
wonderful show overall, but a quick question to anyone who caught his
"everytime you touch me", after he started getting it to be more upbeat, was
he playing ska riffs? I really couldn't tell, maybe i was hearing stuff (we
were right next to the left side speaker). Anyway, he was wonderful, very
very enthusiastic, but the crowd seemed a tad..dead. i guess there asn't
enough room to dance, hell there wasnt even enough room to pogo properly.
Oh yeah, my navigator friend and i stopped at the hinsdale oasis on the way
back and ran into Saffron of Republica, im not lying. i was going to ask her
to sign the slim jim i ganked off of some unfortunate crowd surfer, but she
left before we could get around to it.
oh well, that is all for now

Its not everyday you run into some British singer at a friggin Oasis. Was
she ordering a burger at Wendy's? Or is she a vegan as well? Silly
questions, blah blah.
As far as Moby's performance is concerned, someone replied saying he could
be a Vegas performer later on in his career...scary, but I could agree. He
loves crowds, baby. Remember he jumped into the crowd that day?
Its 4am now, I just returned home from Bondage night at The Dome Room

at the show I went to he played everytime you touch me too. he had some
girl come up and they danced, and then he kissed her afterwards and
everyone clapped and cheered.
I think he also played come on baby and said it was a bout anal sex.

Yes, he was.

I was about 20 feet away from that speaker. Maybe I saw you.
When we got into the parking lot, I heard some drum beats and some
samples from Go. I thought, 'oh no, Moby's already started'. But it
turned out they were just testing his equipment.
I saw a few people wearing Moby T-shirts. That was cool to see.
Moby was one of the better acts at that concert, but my favorite was
Beck. He really got the crowd going.
Also, was it just me or was Veruca Salt miming? Their playing
sounded a little too perfect.

Hi guys,
Can anyone recommend some software utilities that would be good for
MP3? I already have WinPlay3 so I'm not worried about a player. I'm
looking for CD Ripper's and Encoders. I downloaded CDDA (CR Ripper)
which seems to be a nice utility but I keep running into the following
error:

> MSCDEX read error: returned 2
I don't know much about this stuff. It's probably something extremely
simple but regardless... I can't figure it out.
I've recently put several Moby "Come On Baby" wave files on my pages
(http://www.xmission.com/~damian/comeon.html) and they're taking too
much space. That's why I'm earnestly looking into MP3. Can't you fit
more into a MP3 file than you can in the standard wave format?
Also, does anyone know a good MP3 search engine that actually performs?

what MP3 does is it compresses the sound without losing any quality. you
don't really fit more in, it's just that they take up more space.
I don't know much about them other than that. do you have any clue where
I could get a Macintosh mp3 player?

Its cool to see people's reaction to Moby. At the end of the day you could
see who was the most impressive acts by the T-shirt sales. Both the
Jamiroquai and Moby T-shirts sold out. And so did the $60 Social Distortion
jackets, but that was only because it was butt-cold out there that day. Agree?
When Moby's drummer threw his sticks into the crowd I overheard one fan who
caught one and he later said "Moby is so cool. He's God, man."
Nice comments...

i also downloaded that same program, and had the same error message
on my cd rom. i couldn't get it to run either, so i just scrapped it.
i'm guessing that it has something to do with my cd rom drive being
incompatible. my cd rom is an nec clone that won't run my moby
"disk", so it may be the same thing. i don't know....

i haven't worked with mp3's yet, but i know that you can get more
into an mp2 than the standard wav file, so mp3s have got to be better too.

Subject: (mobility) melodies
in that last moby interview that was mentioned here,
moby said that he didn't like most dance music nowadays
because it lacked melody. i don't think that he has been too
aware of alot of what is going on then, because there are quite
a few electronic artists out there doint nice melodies. some of
the new breed drum and bass artists produce fine melodies.
spring heel jack are the kings of singsongy orchaestrations.
there's also a whole new world of melodic hard trance spinning
in rave land that is a really beautiful scene. and while the
majority of happy hardcore artists have gone weak with
production abilities, they have developed a keen ear for
melody and use it very effectively. i was a bit upset to hear
moby say that techno was not "real" music. that is a pretty
closed minded attitute cumming from him.
opinions anyone?

I didnt read the article but yes I do agree with you... but perhaps he
meant that a lot of people were doing techno just to do techno and not
for the enjoyment of it.. its my belief that there are a great deal of
people who live techno music and enjoy having people listen to what they
created.. even if its a small amount of people.. but there are also A
TON of people who are doing techno because its the new thing and they
follow a set of rules, like there is a book "How to make a techno
hit"... before (about a month ago) we were talking about the pop-techno
people (La Bouche, Spice Girls, etc) and how they all sound alike.. i
have no idea where this idea is going.. so im going to leave it there...
