  60. stupid questions aside.that movie "fifth element' sounds really dumb.
  61. are movies getting dumber,or am i getting jaded?
  62. actually the previews didn't look "too" bad for" the saint",but i'll
  63. stick to the soundtrack.
  64. i guess there's something coming up in dallas on the 2oth. is that a
  65. live show,or a radio broadcast from somewhere/ is anybody attending,or
  66. taping this? i have not seen hide,nor hair of Moby live as i do not
  67. watch t.v. much.
  68. one thing really pains me is trying to classify a musician by his music
  69. on one album per se.i love u2,talking heads,etc.etc.i even like opera.
  70. if moby put out opera and it was good i'd like it. see? it doesn't
  71. matter what class you put music into cause if it's good your like it.
  72. it's just being kind of snotty saying "i don't like it" or "he's selling
  73. out" just because it's not of a certain genre. keri"if i can't

  126. I recall some early posts on some new techno/punk band called Atari Teenage
  127. Riot...has anyone heard what Moby thinks of them? I saw them last nite in
  128. Chicago (The Metro...3:30 am) and was amazed at the energy. I went to the
  129. show with this attitude that "this band will suck" but left suprised. Alec
  130. Empire is amazing with his blend of rapid techno with a Punk attitude. The
  131. show was quick but I never felt so energetic since I went to my last Moby
  132. show...thats how good it was. Except instead of raving, I was just trying to
  133. keep up with the beats (240bpm average) and occasionally jumping in the
  134. "raving mosh pit". I swore off mosh pits 3 years ago when I almost broke my
  135. wrist...but I almost broke my promise that nite...
  136.  
  137. In other Moby info...the whole James Bond re-working thing...I'm wondering
  138. if he'll just contribute to the instrumental sountrack or if he'll actually
  139. do the title song during the opening credits...those are mighty big shoes to
  140. fill. Bond films have this tradition of opening credit sequences and they're
  141. fashioned almost like classy music videos with some occasional silhouettes
  142. of "nekkid chicks". Although that hasn't been happening lately. In all 17
  143. Bond film opening credit themes...only two have been instrumentals. And the
  144. "hardest" tune would either be "Live and Let Die" or "A View to a Kill."
  145. This should be interesting.

  428. well, i don't much like AR ( i have the UK version), but i still bought 
  429. it and do listen to it from time to time. however, it is my opinion (SP?) 
  430. that he is MUCH better at creating techno than whatever it is he's doing 
  431. on AR.
  432. he's not selling out 'cause he's always been into the punk scene, way 
  433. before he was into techno.

  472. have everything i've been able to find on DHR. i HIGHLY recommend them 
  473. and others like alec empire and ec8or. if anyone wants more info about

  510. it is completely different having someone remix a song (example: moby may or
  511. may not have ever met the Smashing Pumkins, it does not even matter), but u2
  512. worked w/ eno for years both he and lanois became as involved in the song
  513. development as the 4 members of the band (much in the way howie b. is
  514. involved in the new stuff)...i'm not saying i'm going to change your opinion
  515. of what they are doing, but i just wanted to stress that the examples you
  516. gave do not compare w/ the working relationship eno and u2 had...if they
  517. want to do techno-ish stuff (which it really isn't), fine (i will say that i
  518. don't think edge should give up his guitar and effects for a replica of liam
  519. howlett's(sp?) keyboard setup),to me it isn't about the type/style of music
  520. that matters, it is the quality...

  523. cd-rom to work smoothly?...i have the required hardware, it just doesn't run

  688. Grand Rapids, MI...he had recently been on tour with The Prodigy and The
  689. Shamen I believe. And I recall him mentioning he was at times lightly
  690. insulted by both groups as well because of his social uniqueness in the
  691. electronic music/rave/techno community with his Christian/anti-drug stance.

  806. lyrics, musically they took two different paths away from the techno scene.
  807. Alex Empire is way more Drum&Bass than Moby.  As Moby is way more
  808. conventional musically(instumentally and organizationally) than Alex Empire.

  852. least favorite of all the trophy material.

  854. but i've seen it listed in cdeurope's catalogue.  you can also try german music
  855. express or cdnow.  they are the best online record stores i know of.
  856. run a search on yahoo for those places, because i don't have their adresses

  1069. to the US costs almost as much as the release itself, so it's no

  1079. Yes.  They are roughly analogous to the Lopez _Emptiness_ single,
  1080. but not catchy in the least.  Trophy3 is better.  Actually, upon
  1081. hearing Trophy3 and Trophy4, I wondered why they were wasting CDs
  1082. putting out this crap.  But it grew on me, though I usually have
  1083. to be in kind of a bad mood to appreciate them.  At least track 2
  1084. of Trophy3 is dancey.  These Trophy CDs would have far greater
  1085. value if they had more tracks on them.  Moby has a wealth of great
  1086. songs that will never be released, but somebody seems to think that
  1087. it's okay to put only two mediocre tracks on each single.

  1093. released sometime in the fourth quarter.  The latest word is this
  1094. summer, but I don't know if Trophy6 will be changed.  I hope not,
  1095. because it would probably be the best Trophy single if they just
  1096. release it the way it is.  I want to hear this "Oil 2" track! :)
