part of the great thing about being on a mailing list is gaining an
identity with the rest of the list by building common slang. seeing how
this is list is devoted to moby and his music, most members should know what
another member means when they type EiW, everything is wrong, or _Everything
is Wrong_. if i don't understand what someone is trying to say, i ask.
deal with it. not everyone out there in the real world speaks perfect
english. (i, like sinjin, am also an english major.) the list is for
fun...there shouldn't be requirements for perfect grammar or typing skills
in order to participate.
now on to everyone's favorite guy... one evening recently when i
couldn't get to sleep, my moby-hating roommate had just left and was going
to be gone for an hour or so. i realized this was the perfect oportunity to
pop little idiot (_little idiot_ for you punctuation freaks) into my cd
player. i figured by the time my roommate got back, i'd be fast asleep and
the cd would be over. when i woke up the next morning, it was still
playing. i had accidentally put it on repeat. i was amazed that my
roommate hadn't turned it off. guess what!?! SHE LOVED IT!!!! she was
really surprised when she found out it was moby. she still hates most of
his stuff, but at least i found something i can listen to without her
getting upset. :)
yay for me!!!

i had a similar experience a few year back when "E-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g i-s
W-r-o-n-g"
came out. most of my friends are rivethead industrial nuttahs so they really
weren't into the majority of moby's techno stuff. but i was playing EiW in
the car and they new it was moby and were like turning their nose up to
"hymn"...but when "All that i Need..." kicked in with guitars a blazing, they
were like "who is this now?". when i told them that it was moby, they were
amazed. today, 3 of the 4 non-believers have switched to moby! and dentists
think their toothpaste statistics are important...

Subject: (mobility) I had the strangest dream last night
I dreamed last night that I came home from work, turned on the news and
they said Moby was dead. I remember dreaming either Kurt Loder or Tom
Brokaw saying drugs were suspected, possibly heroin, and thinking that
CAN'T be right. Then I started checking the list and the net for more info,
but everyone was busy saying how much they *loved* him ("Alas, poor Urich.
I knew him well."), but no one was saying what I wanted to hear: that it
wasn't true. That he wasn't just some minor pop figure who was now going to
be a "legend" just because he was dead. I remeber crying and falling down
in the snow and pounding on the ice (it was winter) but no one understood
why. And I remember being glad that I just bought some rarities before this
happened and then feeling guilty afterwards.
Has anyone else ever had a dream like this?

when i was younger, i watched an episode of "growing pains" where
ben idolized this rock singer and when he got the chance to meet him,
he saw that the singer was a drunken promiscuous druggy who was
mean and ignorant to everyone, including ben.
because of that show, i've had similar dreams about moby. i've dreamed
that i got a chance to meet him after a concert and he was like the
total opposite of everything he preached. he had a bear gut, was smoking,
and was very cruel to me and didn't want to talk at all. i had dreams
that my mom invited him to my house for a birthday party, and he was
just really ignorant to everyone and ate meat and was a total bigot.
i hate having dreams like these.
but i do have good dreams about moby too. i probably have more good
dreams than bad ones. see moby doesn't know it yet, but we are long lost
siblings. yep. it's true. separated at birth. so he's somewhere, right now,
dreaming of meeting me some day too!

ok...i bet i am saying this and everyone else knows it and i am sounding like
an arse, but i just realised why i get 2 or 3 of the same message. when the
message is sent to Mobility@mail.xmission.com if the address appears again in
the CC area of it, then 2 (or however many times the name appears) messages
are going to be sent. i dont know if this has anything to do with ones local
ISP, but if this can be avoided i think we would all be a bit happier.
sorry for bringing this up again, but i really do get tired of seeing my

have zero idea what his electronic music sounds like. im just
basing
this assertion off the strength of a genuine analysis of the album.
he
does have some pretty slick tone on his git-fiddle tho. :)

Don't give a shit what people think. I don't think "earthing" wasn't
that great and I do think" Pop" is excellent. I'll tell you what I think
of Depeche Modes' when I buy it on tuesday.By the way I got this three
CD "Ultimate Club Mix "at Target yesterday and believe it or not it's
pretty good. keri

Yeah its most likely something about the CC.. I dont want to put anyone to
blame but if you put the same address in the CC (Carbon Copy) then that
address will get it twice..
So hopefully everyone (im not singling out anyone) understands and we can
get back to normal..
But even if you see two messages dont worry just hit delete, Ive learned
that a loooong time ago.

be, aside from the fact that the collective knowledge of people on this
list about electronic music is important to me..and the fact that i find
moby intensely interesting and am interested in hearing about him. have

I take it you are using Netscape Communicator Preview Release 2 (since
the only people that have the final release are Netscape employees,
which if you are an employee please write me privatly!)
I too use Netscape Communicator P.R. dos. You want to "Reply To Sender"

I forgot who was doing it but since they havent done it in a while and
the conversations on this list have turned to ISPs and other bands I
assume command of the spaceship known as: STUPID MOBY QUESTIONS!
This weeks mission:
1) If Moby were a lightbulb, how many watts would he be?
okay seriously..:
1) If Moby suddonly turned all new-age on us, who do you think he would
be the reincarnation of?
2) Ah! The apocolypse has come and electronic music is the only music!
Suddonly the (fill in your country here) Postal Service decides to make
a series of 8 techno artists, one being Moby.. name the other 7
(unfortunatly in the US you have to be dead for 15 years before you can
have a stamp with your likeness on it)
3) A TV corporation decides Moby is perfect to star in a remake of a
60's or 70's TV show... name what TV show remake Moby would be in.
there you go.. have fun

personally I think a good Moby-cartoon in the style of scooby-doo or the
harlem globetrotters would be excellent (proof: see the drawings of
mooby in the Schoolhouse Rocks Rocks! CD) but lets see.. there could be
the new brady bunch.. come on.. we could replace jans cry of: "marsha
marsha marsha!" with "moby moby moby!".... lol.. Leave It To Moby!, The
New Hawaii 5 0 ("Book em, Moby!")....
peace out
