ah yes..the stupid questions mu favourite
1) If Moby suddonly turned all new-age on us, who do you think he would
be the reincarnation of?
probably Herman Melville. He got the name from hi, why not his soul?
2) Ah! The apocolypse has come and electronic music is the only music!
Suddonly the (fill in your country here) Postal Service decides to make
a series of 8 techno artists, one being Moby.. name the other 7
(unfortunatly in the US you have to be dead for 15 years before you can
have a stamp with your likeness on it)
2 Aphex Twin (i know he's not american, theyll have to live with it though)
3 Darren Emerson
4 Alex Patterson
5 Paul & Phil Hartnoll
6 Goldie
7 Bjork
3) A TV corporation decides Moby is perfect to star in a remake of a
60's or 70's TV show... name what TV show remake Moby would be in.
he'd be on the love boat...no particular reason, just because the love boat
is pretty cool.
oh well...

Damn right AR sucks. Anyways, you don't have to own any Moby to be
on this list. You can do what the hell you like. Besides, what
better way to find out if an artist is the shit than to join a list?
I generally criticize Moby on this list, which seems mighty unpopular here, with
people that even DREAM about the guy on this list! I like most of
his stuff, but I feel a mailing shouldn't just be about praise for an
artist's work but criticm should also be just as common. I mean. if
Moby makes something that sucks, then what's wrong with going out and
saying it? Like I said, we should be able to do what the hell we
like on this list(pertaining it is somewhat Moby related, I rather
not have this thing be one of them meat market lists, if there are
such things). Anyways, take care.
Ben
PS - Moby's pre-AR stuff kicks ass.

i DO like AR & pre AR stuff...
but i dont think that there is anything wrong with not being super
involved with Moby's work. i dont think that ppl need to be obsessed
with, or even huge fans of Moby to be on this list. as long as you have
an interest in him & his music... this list should welcome you. not
everyone has the time or the money to buy every single & every rarity.
& then some of us are too busy spending our money on Tori Amos singles...
but thats another story.

A) dont click on "reply to all"
B) i dont remember anyone saying that anyone *had* to like AR or any moby to
be on this list...i dont see why you all care about what we think and you all
obviosly do cos you feel like posting about "ultimate club mix" and what cds
you do and dont like...i am not here to flame you. mabye the AOL mail thing
is holding up messages or NOONE said you had to like moby...AND i dont see
how depeche modes cd relates to MOBY, by-and-by-the-way.
C) lets face it, AR wasnt THE great album and most of us probably bought it
cos it had MOBY on it...i'll admit that i did. but in 1997 (so far) i havent
been impressed by too much. i am dissapointed by what some artists are
putting out, moby included. it was a meteocre album in a time when horrible
albums were being put out. sure, it was on my list of fave albums, but that
doesnt mean it was considered a great album by me.
<whew>--hope i didnt offend anyone with B...but it had to be said.

Not true or at least i hope so :)
You see the movie has Heather Locklear..
and there have been a few good movies made by HBO...
here are a few reasons..
Danny Elfman, you all proly know him as the Batman guy or Tim Burton film
composer but he did an HBO film.. so for moby to be up in that rank in my
book is good stuff..
HBO is rumored to have bought the Star Wars SEs for a special weekend
showing.. Soooo that means HBO has a lot of money and um that means theyre
paying moby alot???? well its good i think.. anyways i'll be watching it!

HBO does put out soundtracks to their original movies... so we will have

I stand corrected. That would be great to have more Moby albums coming
out, under the guise of movie soundtracks. He can't release enough
stuff to quench my thirst for music. :)
BTW, IMHO "Oil 1" is the best technoey Moby song this side of EIW. ;)

4.liam howllet
5.2 unlimited
6.spice girls
7.republica
and i think bjork is one of the WORST choices for the stamp. all she does
is sleep with the most popular jungle/trip hop artist of the moment and
put on one of the worst live shows i've ever been to. she's done NOTHING
to advance the electro movement, unless you count leeching off of the
REAL artists to get remixes done. i guess you can tell i don't like this
girl. (and yet i have about 6 CD's of her)
i wish i could think of something related to moby to talk about, but i

So I finally remembered to get the Saint soundtrack...haven't heard it
all..but I must say I LOVE Oil 1...has a great beat...nice fast up
tempo..lots of energy...I'm going to have to log on to the Mobility
members sight on Damian's addy to see what I picked as my fav Moby
track..For me..Oil 1 ranks right up there...BTW..for those who have yet
to purchase or see the cd..Moby got a better treatment on it than the
www sight...Sticker on the front says, "Includes Tracks From: David
Bowie, Moby...." Which is the way I think it should be on the www
sight..I don't see why the Sneaker Pimps name was bigger on the site
considering the song they use is a Nellee Hooper remix(anybody know if
the original sounds better/worse??)...probably just all politics
considering they're a hip new group...<shrug>..Lastly...there's been
postings about ppl's top 5 albums...I'm still having trouble
deciding..but ColdKrushCuts HAS to be on there..I've only heard 1/4 of
it..but it's amazing so far..Get it if you haven't already!

actually ill tell you who the two most talented people in this bizness
are..Jyro Xhan and Jerome Fontemillas of Fold Zandura <formerly mortal>
you will never find two more diversely talented musicians EVER that not
only have the skills, they have the GIFT. you all know the difference im
sure. :) the really skilled composition major who pays their dues but
just never makes it big and cant figure out why vs. the creative genius
that things just COME to..the gift. :) these guys have it. :)

That's a dangerous line you are stepping on there. I would have always said
that 2 unlimited were one of the first bands that made electronic music
popular in the mainstream.Remember "No Limits"? They had a string of no.1s
and although looking back on it now, they were really crap, people didn't
think that back then.
I don't think that they should be on a stamp myself at all,but they did make
their contribution to popularising dance music.
Just my opinion though.

I think Daft Punk are quite good actually...their blend of techno and disco
styles really impressed me...and I really hate disco. "Rollin and Scratchin"
and "Rock and Roll" are excellent trax. My guess is that their popularity
will not be big because of the already ensuing "pre-hype" of The Chemical
Brothers and The Prodigy. I've never been so innundated with the "upcoming
stars" hype as these two groups have had. Now don't get me wrong, they are
great bands (I have Both current Prodigy CD's and the Chem's CD), but isn't
this whole "electronica is the new alternative" hype just a bit too much
these days? MTV has jumped on the bandwagon, Rolling Stone, and the list
goes on. They make it look like some sort of "new movement" when its been
around for quite a while. Kind of like when athletic shoe companies
announced the new, revolutionary "walking shoe" when man has been walking
since the beginning of time.
But trust me...there will be people jumping on the "techno/electronica"
bandwagon this year with not an ounce of techno knowledge in them. Too bad...
