I think the idea of having a near-perfect person to look up to is not such
a bad idea...though of course it's nice to see that Moby doesn't claim to
be perfect himself, either.

It's a chicken-and-egg (chickensubstitute-and-eggsubstitute) problem to
some extent. If you're new to a genre or to the study of a medium (like
film), reading reviews can open your eyes to subtexts and details and
nuances that you simply never would have known were there. Admittedly this
is ridiculously difficult in music reviews ("writing about music is like
dancing about architecture," etc.), but it can be done.
I am not personally a fan of _Stolling Rh=F4ne_ reviews, though the ones in
_Spin_ are often quite good. If you can stomach the _Village Voice_ (anyone
other than the unintelligible Christgau), you can also learn there.

A friend has been forwarding stuff to me regarding this from the Chem Bros
list and one said that Moby talked about this at a SXSW music conference and
said that GnR were doing the best blend or rock and "electronica" out there.
There was also a rumor of doing something with Aerosmith.
Question: Which would be a better buy - the US CD of TWIRFMR with the
remixes or the UK one with the Rollo and Sister Bliss Mix and the b-sides?

I haven't had any luck finding or obtaining the CD. I don't even
know for sure that it exists! Don't know who promised it either,
but I would really like it since my parents' record player has
really poor quality, especially when it comes to today's wide
frequency range recordings.

ok supposedly amp is going to be on in 2 weeks, at least thats what my TV

about something disconcerting. oh well. i dont thin they have been postponing
it due to the spring break thing, but then again i havent watched MTV for a

I haven't heard the US remixes (the new ones)-but I've had the Rollo &
Sister Bliss mix cd for a while and it's possibly my *favorite* moby disc.
Every One Of My Problems & Dark are two of his best tracks-and the Revolver
remix is fucking *BRILLIANT*. Then again-I'll probably love the other
single too....

Ok, I just downloaded Thousand and it's the full song.the only problem with
these sites are that they are really slow and only take 15-20 users at a
time.Still,I'm hoping that all the sites have the full lenth songs.
REMEMBER !! If you are trying to download any of these tunes that you have
to click on the RIGHT mouse button and take the "save link as..." option and
download it into your account. Also,it's apparently illegal to download these
songs,but what the hell,who cares?
Can't wait to get into some of these other sites. This one that has Thousand
on it has loads of other great tunes, Front 242,Underworld, Fluke, Prodigy,
Carl Cox,Laurent Garnier,Scooter.Rave on!

actually, i think it's great! i'm not too keen on the new moby. i like the
old moby much more. maybe the reason i like this song so much is because
i'm just so happy to hear some good 'ol fashoned stompy moby! he is SO
GOOD at making dance music...it baffles me as to why he is moving to
punk. if he is so upset about the state of dance, why dosen't he DO
SOMETHING ABOUT IT!! but no...he goes and hides in the punk room. humpf!

Amen! You'd be amazed at what kind of good stuff Moby made that hasn't
been released. Meanwhile he's screaming and playing punk and trying to
get accepted by all the crappiest pop institutions, as they're stupidly
deciding that they can make money by hyping techno-pop. It seems that
Moby doesn't release real techno anymore. The stuff on Trophy is dry
and minimal, lacking the real soul of Moby, but it's basically all we
get. That, and a remix of Revolver that sounds like a wannabe BBMH
(Voodoo Child Mix) which was a hybrid of Feeling So Real and the drums
in ATINITBL (Speed Trance). So it seems that lately all the "techno"
we've been hearing from Moby is either dry or repackaged. That's not
like him. He's known for his inspired creativity and awesome music.
I'm really sorry that he's so disillusioned with the music that he
pioneered so wonderfully.

i love moby doing a little bit off both. i think it depends on your
space at the time and what mood you're in. i feel like listening to all
different artists at different x and i've very happy with"animal rights"
. i've just discovered moby by listening to my alt.station whereas i
wouldn't have heard him before. few stations play techno here.i'm in
love. kls

Maybe it's his way of sending the rave scene to it's room til it can
play nicely? :) I'm actually torn between both sides....I'm hoping
when he goes on tour(and hopefully he'll stop here)..the concert will
be a mix of both..some songs off AR..and earlier stuff..We shall see
soon enough :) Just curious..has anybody seen the rave scene Moby
sees?? Do you agree??

Maybe..but seeing how on the TWIRFMR remix single there are "techno"
songs...If you can hear us Moby..why Oil 1?!?! :)

I still don't think he's trying to be accepted by everyone(trying to
get his message out..yes/no/maybe?)...because the way I see it(and I
could be wrong)..if he was..he would of stuck with "techno" considering
it's the next BIG thing...and everyone is latching onto any group
associated with it.

I only wish there were rare tracks out there in MP3 format. Maybe some
of those bonus tracks from the Come on Baby double CD... :)

Wow, that's amazing! I had no idea that there are so many Moby sound
files out there. Unfortunately, my computer is too old & slow to play
MP3s. Are these the full songs or just excerpts? Thanks for sharing
this site with us, Col! :)

NO! I really hate the punk rock crowds and moshing. I'm sick of
getting bruised every time I go out to see a great band (ie. Bad Religion).
I went to a few Orbital concerts and it was pure heaven. If Moby
could do a techno/dance show, I'm sure I wouldn't get kicked in the
head as much as if he pulled out his guitar.
