Subject: (mobility) animal rights (us)
if these have been previously answered, sorry (i'm new to the list):
1) is the verson of "alone" from the us version of animal rights the sames
as the version on the "bring back my happiness" single? or is it the same
as the version on the little idiot cd (the 2nd cd that came w/ the uk
animal rights...it has no drums and it has a different name)...
2) does anyone have the uk version of everything is wrong w/ the 2nd cd (i
think it is called underwataer)? if so is it worth getting the import for
the underwater songs?...
thanks...

i have it. it's like hymn.alt.quiet.version, but if you don't have that,
it's a bunch of hollow echoy sound. basically just a string sound and a
odd rumbling. it's about 40 minutes long. it's devided into 4 or 5 parts,
but they are all VERY simmilar. it's interesting, but not very amazing.
spend your money on "the end of everything" or the u.k. version of AR
instead.

I didn't like Underwater all too much. I would only buy it if you plan
on becoming a major collector of Moby's stuff. I would, however,
recommend aiming your efforts on getting Hymn, the alt.quiet version.
It's incredible! People say the two are similar but Underwater is
almost unlistenable to me.

i have not heard Underwater, i would like to have it.. but if you dont have
hymn.alt.quiet.version buy it! fast as you can. it is some of the best songs
that i ever heard, best Ambient song what i know. this also got in my mind:
What is best remix from other artist of Moby's song?
i think it is
Into the blue (Uplifting 4 beat mix) by Dj Seduction...
i finally got Into the blue remixes last week and i finally heard full
version of that mix (not that cutted from Everything is wrong remixed &
mixed) .. i cant get that song off my mind.. anyway.

Subject: (mobility) moby in chicago
ok, everyone, i tried to send this earlier, but for some reason it didn't get
through. here is my moby story.
wednesday, february 19, moby was in chicago for a meet and greet. i DID NOT
want to miss this, i don't think he'll be back around here again for a while.
i left school at 5 pm for chicago. i drove 4 hours to get there, only by the
directions i got from a fellow list member. i had no clue as to where i was
going, how the hell i was going to get in (i am only 18, which is underage),
and how i was going to get my cds signed, but dammit, i was going nonetheless.
i got to chicago 1/2 hour early, so i went to the hard rock cafe for a little
bit. i was supposed to meet a list member around 9:30 or so on a street
corner, so i waited. and waited, and waited. something must have happened,
because she never showed up. i was getting really worried because she was
going to be my means of either getting in, or getting sigs.
i hung around the entrance to dome room (where moby was) from about 9:50-10:50,
just hoping to find the erson i was supposed to meet. i finally saw a regular
of the club come out and talk to the guy taking IDs and put her moby stuff in
her car. when she came back, i told her how far i had come and the whole 9
yards, and asked if she could take in my cds (animal rights-uk, and move ep) to
get them signed. she felt so bad, she said she would, bbut thought it would
take about 1 to 1 1/2 hours. i told her i would wait at the entrance for her.
10 minutes later, she comes out and says, "this is such a cool story..."
she went inside and told a guy in line my situation, he then proceeded to steal
a moby promo off the wall in the bathroom for me. she then went up and told
moby himself the whole story. he felt so sorry about the whole thing, he
signed my AR cd ("andy! sorry! moby" with a cool pic he drew) AND he took a
dollar bill out of his own pocket, signed it ("to andy! [heart] moby" with
another little pic). she gave me all this stuff and i was weak with unbeleif.
i thanked her about a million times i think.
i am a little disappointed that i didn't get to talk to him or get to meet him
like some of you did, but i think everything else that happened made up for it.
i have my dollar bill framed and sitting where everyone can see it now...
so if any of you saw a short guy with a long brown coat and black hair stangin
with a girl with black hair and the same height outside dome room that night,
that was me and my girlfriend. 4 hours from home with class at 8 the next
morning...=)
(just my "little" story)

So I'm watching my tape of Sunday's 120 Minutes..and Matt Pinhead is letting
us know who's gonna be played..when who should he mention..our Moby...This
being my first Moby video(does he have any others?)...I'm not sure what to
say about it..I did expect the Presidents of the USA to jump in somewhere..
it had the feeling of one of their vids...and Moby kinda looked like em...A
few ?'s about it though(maybe suited best for the cyberchat tomorrow)..but...
Anybody know who Dewey Nicks(director of video) is?? Where was it filmed???
Who was the redheaded girl in it???
I will say that "That's when I realize it's over" just didn't cut it for me..
it didn't have the same impact..but whether or not he sold out is a different
story...Now..in some circles..by Moby even sending a video to MTV..he's
already sold out...But..if you want to get your message out..you have to sign
a deal with the devil(MTV could be considered one)...Those of us who love
Consolidated should know this concept very well :) See you at the cyberchat
tomorrow...I'm hoping to be there..but if for some reason I'm not..someone
PLEASE ask him about the Lopez singles..ask him if they're jokes...if he made
them to show the world what he thought "techno" had become...Or if he did
put his heart and soul into them...

How on earth does Moby come up with such senseless lyrics for his songs?

I would be surprised to hear that those were jokes. They sound
like pure Moby dance music to me.

I was just thinking that maybe the reason that Moby did agree to change the
lyrics to That's When I Reach For My Revolver is so that he could have
played on MTV, so that he could reach an audience of people that wouldn't
otherwise get to hear his music. It might have been a smart move on his part
if he did.People might like the tune, buy the album and then IF he went back
to Techno(we can only pray) he would have gained a whole new following all
because he changed one line in a song. And let's face it,TWIRFMR is a very
catchy and good tune.
That's only my opinion though.
Anyone agree?

I will *try* to attend the chat tonight, but I might come in late because
of work. SonicNet will probably have a transcript available, but their
last transcript had about 80% of the chat edited out, so I strongly
suggest turning on your log files, folks.

Go here: http://www.sonicnet.com/sonicore/

recommend using the IRC method if they are going to use it. Also keep
