Subject: (mobility) Rant On Area 1 (part 1)

       So, it starts at 3:15pm when I arrive at Shoreline to see the starting
acts. The time on the ticket says at 3:30pm the show starts....problem #1.

       After realizing that I'd missed the first couple of acts, I trek to
the "Ford Focus" arena (which seems so damn wrong that words cannot express
my disgust for Ford and for the ugly econo-shit car that's sponsoring this
tent...problem #2) where I go to check out Derrick May. That was the first
good thing I'd had happen so far. The tent was lively and well adorned with
great visuals (with the exception of Ford logo's), fun music, and a good
vibe.

       We decided to get something to drink. I bought the smallest, and only
size bottled water for, how much you ask?...$3. "$3!", I asked the plump
underpaid woman at the counter. She shrugged and said sorry when I explained
I have the same water at my grocery store for $0.34. A 300 percent mark
up....problem #3.

       After wandering around for a while we went back to the tent to catch
Timo Mass. A great set and still a good vibe. Lots more people, but great fun
all around. No problems.

       We wandered up to the lawn for New Order. Herein lies many problems.

           #1. We paid $50 a piece for the tickets and it only got us a wet
lawn seat.
           #2. New Orders sound was utter shit.
           #3. A man puking in front of us passed out and it took medical a
good 20 minutes
                 to reach him...and he was right next to open stairs for the
staff.
           #4. Didn't New Order say they'd never play a Joy Division
song....ever?

What do you all expect from a $50.00 arena show?
Why would you expect the water to be cheaper than
$3.00?  Especially if yer from the Bay Area, and a DJ
at that, all clubs, parties, etc. charge that
ridiculous amount for a water.  Yes it sucks, yes so
does Ford, yes so do large arena tours.  All yer
reasons below are a very good reason not to buy a
ticket in the first place.
    The Shoreline Ampitheatre sucks, hands down.  It's
the worst.  It's built on a dump, stinks when the wind
blows the wrong way, and the lawn "seats" in the back
are so damn steep, everyone ends up on top of each
other half way thru the show, slowly sliding
downwards.
  I'm glad you got to enjoy Derrick May and Timo Maas.
 I especially love Timo Maas...  cheers!

hey, look at it this way, when i hit area:one water was even more
expensive, once we left the dj tent to get some there was no getting back
in, and new order wasn't playing that show. it also started earlier than
the tix and web site said, and shoved ford propoganda (along with others'
various marketing) down your throat. (no puker's for us tho.)
oh well, i didn't really expect a ton going into it, as area:one sounded
kinda like a bad idea to me from the getgo.

Yeah, they said that, but I'm pretty sure the first time they restarted to play "Love Will Tear Us Apart" was New Year's 1999 right before Underworld at the Alexandria Palace (great damn show - from the recordings at least).
Yesterday, I got so many chills during that song, I always do.
I'll write more later, too.  I got a catch a plane to SoCal (to see the next Area:One show?  I wish...if atleast to see the Orb who I missed because of New Order!  Awful scheduling!)

Yeah, I don't know what peopel are moaning about... at least New Order are
playing live and making records again.

They have played somewhat erratically Joy Division songs throughout their
entire career. I know they played Decades, She's lost Control  Atmosphere
and Love Will tear Us Apart in the 80's, and in the 90's they added
Isolation and Heart And Soul. They've also been playing Ceremony and In A
Lonely Place for most of their lives.

considering the size of A:1 some things are too be expected....
the artists arent going to want to pay the total coast of having a huge tent.
 They prolly think they send enough money on roadies who moved thier stuff....
Why do sports arenas have corporate names?? cuz they are fucking expensive.
They needed a sponsor, otherwise nothing would ever get done.   Also , when
you go to a concert plan on spending 60 bucks that day on shirts, drinks,
food and prolly dinner afterwards.....its a concert.  Life is too short and
money is made to be spent.....
especially for a worthwhile cause, such as a concert

massachusetts and when he was touring in 2000 in
albany, NY. i preferred his perfomance in albany, just
because he played more. i also listen to VAST, POE,
Imogen Heap, Tori Amos, Radiohead, The Cure, Depeche
Mode, and many others. i think this is the best
mailing list, it has great info. i apologize again for
the non-moby-related part.

They don't have to, their rhetoric alone is based on pseudoscience,
exaggerated claims and media bullshit that they merely regergitate without
any valid, credible scientific evidence.

Fear, ignorance, and apocolyptic babble aren't good examples.

While there are valid environmental dangers, in particular arsenic and lead
levels in clean drinking water supplies, poor BREATHING air quality, etc,
WAY too much time and attention is paid to "hot button" issues such as
global warming and genetically modified organisms.  Everytime a celebrity or
ecofreak spouts this crap, especially in the manner that that sector of the
public usually chooses to express themselves (look at any recent "World
Conference" of the World Bank, WTO, or otherwise to see what I mean), they
lose credibility and detract attention further away from legitimate issues.

I also consider it extremely hypocritical and short sighted for these
celebrities (who have more money than they will ever be able to spend
compared to the rest of us) dictating what the rest of us should do.  I'm
sorry but I can't afford to pay a %200 or more mark up to make sure that my
coffee beans, blue jeans, or other products didn't harm a single bird,
exploit a child sweatshop worker, or generally make this world a worse place
to live.  If they wanna bankroll my "progressive" budget then I would be
more than willing to take their advice to heart.

I thought overall the show was amazing! I loved how eclectic the artist
lineup was. It made for an interesting day.

My big complaint was just that the line-up was changed a lot from what it
was supposed to be origionally and pushed back. I couldn't even get into
my seat until 3:30 I think.
The food, as others have mentioned - was outragous -- but I don't think it
was just for this festival so I can't really complain. It's just how
things are now unfortunately :(

It was nice to see Billy play with New Order -- but did anyone else think
he looked really depressed? I saw him during last summer's tour in canada
and he wasn't this lethargic looking! I saw him smile twice - one time a
girl waved to him and he waved back... then the lead singer from New Order
picked on him and he looked a bit flushed from it!

The tent situation seemed to be better now that they opened up the sides
so people coule still hear the music and sortof see in. I found it hard to
see Oakey. The visuals for everything were amazing. When Derrek May was on
there were not as many people in the tent so dancing was not limited to 2
sq feet per person. I wish the tent would have been larger. Does anyone
know why the second stage wasn't used instead? Maybe ford just wanted
things done their way??? Who knows.

The Roots and Outkast were ok -- but I'm not a big hip-hop fan so I wasn't
freaking out when they came on. My sister, on the other hand, LOVES that
stuff and claimed they were both amazing. We even managed to meet both of
these bands -- and one of the guys from the Roots took down my cell number
and said he wanted to hang out with us later. Who knows if he meant it but
he never called.

Moby put on a good show - as ALWAYS! :) I loved his energy. He always runs
around a lot and it makes for an entertaining night even if you don't like
his music.

As far as the venue -- I thought that it was a pretty good place. Some
people didn't like the idea that there was seats, but I paid for my
seat... and had it been in a staduim where there were folding chairs tied
together with plastic, people would have burnt the plastic, gotten rid of
the chairs, and basically taken my seat away from me and my spot. So I had
the luxury of a seat all day and night and I had enough room to dance
around.

Well theres my little review on my area one day... it was worth the $85 I
paid ticketmaster and the rest of the people to dance around and see Moby
for an hour.

I hope e veryone else enjoyed the show!!!

Just plan to check out the line up when you get there. I didn't write it
down but I _think_ this is how it went...

starting at 4 or so on the main stage rinocerose, the roots, new order,
outkast, moby
starting earlier... i think 3:30... Behrouz or something like that, then
Derrek May, Locals, The Orb Paul Oakenfold.
I think Timo Mass went on first but I could be wrong. It was all confusing
for me and so I just suggest you check the boards when you walk in. It's
not too hard to find the lineup posted.

oh the mighty, mighty New Order. How jealous I am that they're playing in
the US and not in the UK (apart from one secret gig in Liverpool). Their new
album is a work of genius. The collaboration with Bobby Gillespie could have
come from Primal Scream's Xtrmntr (if any of you don't own this album I urge
you to get one now) but with New Order's trademark beats, bass and melodies.

When Joy Division came to an end New Order did indeed say that they would
never play JD material ever again. I was at a few of their earliest gigs
(most notably the much bootlegged Reading Uni) and they played In a Lonely
Place and Ceremony at this point. However I'm sure didn't play any JD stuff
until the tour immediately prior to the Manchester Arena and Alexander
Palace shows a couple of years back. That tour was, I think, around 1994/5.
Since then their drum'n'bass and techno versions of old JD tracks have
become highlights of their sets.

I may be wrong about this, but having seen them on at least one date of
every UK tour since they started, I can only go on my own memory. And as an
old git, my memory ain't what it used to be! :-)

Did any of you see Moby taking notes when New Order were on?

After Moby's recent announcement re anti-bush gig, here's the latest brit
installment of 'uninformed artists against the powers that be'. you can
almost hear the tremors resounding around esso's central office!

Goldie, Fabric and Lavelle against Esso

Fabric announce 'Stop Esso' line-up.

Goldie, James Lavelle, film-maker Chris Cunningham, Spiritualized, Silicone
Soul and Ross Allen head the proposed line-up for a 'Stop Esso' night at
Fabric on Sep 6.

Fabric are the first club and youth/pop culture force to join the 'Stop
Esso' campaign (www.stopesso.com) which argues that Esso (known as
ExxonMobil in the USA) is 'the world's biggest climate villain'. The 'Stop
Esso' campaign accuses the company of undermining the Kyoto Protocol,
lobbying US President Bush to pull out of the UN climate negotiations (and
funding his recent presidential campaign) and refusing to invest in clean,
renewable energy sources.

The 'Stop Esso' group insist: "We need to send a clear message to Esso and
President Bush: the world is not going to stand by while you wreck our
climate." Circulation, Colin Dale, Craig Richards, Dan & Jon Kahuna, Freq
Nasty, Plump DJs, Rocky, Stanton Warriors and Terry Francis are also set to
play Fabric's 'Stop Esso' night.

The event hopes to raise awareness for the 'Stop Esso' campaign which was
the backing and support of Greenpeace and Friends Of The Earth.

i think that the number of protests like these going on is attempting to
make clear to the "powers that be" that a whole lot of people, from numerous
nations, just don't agree with what Bush, etc. is doing, as far as their
actions are concerned that will likely, if not definitely, affect the
environment.

the New Power Project, the one Moby's in, and this one, Stop Esso, are just
trying to make it even more clear to the "powers that be."

i think that all one really needs is to have a very vague idea of what might
happen to the environment, take notice that many environmental organizations
are extremely concerned and are protesting, and of course be concerned about
protecting the environment, and i think those alone are sufficient enough to
go ahead with publicizing protests already in progress as best a celebrity
can and is able to.

i don't really do much of my own research about environmental concerns, but
for some of the environmental organizations that are online, like Save
Biogems, Panda.org (WWF), and the Environmental Defense Action Network, for
examples, i just let them send me e-mail when something's up that they're
concerned about, so that i personally can look over what they're concerned
about and send mail to my Senator, Representative, or whoever, and these
e-mail notifications that i get are a lot like the (innacurately portrayed)
"uninformed" artists helping out with save-the-environment campaigns that
are otherwise already in progress, by those whom do know what they're
talking about...

So now Moby is an uninformed artist?  It seems highly critical to claim that
they are all uninformed.  For all we know they supported and researched
stuff like this even before they became famous.  But now because they are
famous they get noticed and can get more publicity for the cause they are
supporting. Or it could be just a publicity stunt to get themselves back
into the limelight.  Whatever the reason is at least they have the balls to
go out and publicly speak up/out for something.  As I have mentioned before
on this list it was funny how fast some people turned against Moby for
expresssing his opinion on the whole election / Ralph Nader situation.  And
it is not suprising that Moby would publicly go against Bush because he
stated even during the election that Bush's environmental policies were bad.

oakey is in the guiness world book of records; the first DJ to ever make 1
million dollars in 1 year from just playing gigs (this doensnt include
production work, just spinning records).... That's kind of his claim to
fame...

he's also listed in the Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas, since they inducted him
into the Hard Rock Hall of Fame...

at the electronic music festival earlier this year in san diego, his set
wasnt that great.  he had some guy come out and put the needle to the record
[for his set] and all oakey did was wave and smile to the crowd. i am not
sure if he was drunk or whatever, but that was a dissapointment.  but more
recently, his two shows in NJ [for area:one]  were really good.

it was a sweeping statement - as most word bites are. Although I would
hazard a guess that, having interviewed and spent time with many of the
artists involved in these projects, most are informed by similar word bites.

nope, too cynical. i'd say that human beings of all persuasions are easily
persuaded by passing band wagons. this isn't to say that eco concerns don't
offer a worthy band wagon. however i think we should ask the question of how
much good these events really do. are there more powerful ways to
demonstrate than putting your name on a bill? does it have to be showbiz?

I don't think any of this takes balls. moby hardly lay down in front of
tank or stopped a passing bullet for his beliefs. he did suggest that he
would leave the US if bush got in - which was a rash statement which no one
should reasonably hold him to.
no, what it takes is an active interest rather than balls.

i sometimes wonder whether some of these events are all about 'giving your
conscience the night off'.

First off, no that is not "all one really needs", an informed decision about
any opinion you form is always necessary, otherwise its nothing but
conjecture.  When one REALLY starts to delve into the science behind "global
warming" you find that there is very little evidence to show humans have a
significant effect on global environment, and that reports and scientists
who do make such claims are fundamentally flawed, politically motivated, or
just plain incompetent.  In truth its been completely blown out of
proportion by the media and environmentalists.  Second, the simple fact that
there are numerous protestors in numerous countries is an absurd standard
for supporting them or even giving them creedence--in the US there are
perhaps just as many if not MORE protestors against other hotbutton issues
such as anti-choice christians rallying against abortion.  Does this mean
that their numbers constitute a valid reason to join up with them?  No way
in hell would I ever do so.

The Bobby Gillespie/Prml Scrm collaboration on the new New Order album is
not the same one from the Prml Scrm LP (i.e. not "Shoot Speed Kill Light".

New Order have played lots of Joy Division osngs - they used to play about 5
or 6 of them instrumentally at soundchecks as early back as 1981. in 1983
they debuted their version of Love Will Tear Us Apart in Birmingham on the
anniversary of Ian's Death. in 1984 they also played Decades on the
anniversary of Ian's birthday. In 1985 they played She's Lost Control and
Atmosphere as a special Christmas Present for Rob Gretton, their manager.
In 1986-1987 they tended to played a JD song once every few months.

Then, on 16th July 1998, at the Manchester Apollo they unveiled their
versions of Isolation. Atmosphere, Heart And Soul, Love WIll tear Us Apart,
In A Lonely Place, and Ceremony, which have seemed fairly constant in the
sets since then. Which, incidentally, was the best gig I have EVER seen.

I bow to your superior knowledge. I hadn't realised that they'd played so
much JD material over the years. Somehow I missed it all when I saw them :(
Did you go to the Manchester gig with Underworld?

No, the Primal's collaboration is different. In fact its a lot better.

Do New Order/ Joy Division mean as much to other Mobility subscribers? The
Moby links are obvious, going much deeper than New Dawn Fades (I don't like
Moby's version at all - its too clumsy).

I'm off to listen to Perfect Kiss - total perfection.

Superior? Nah, I'm just a bit of  a trainspotter. If I was ever asked to
name my top three bands I'm fairly sure New Order would be No.1 or 2. It
depends if I'm listening to them when I'm asked. The problem was they played
a JD song perhaps every few months, and in the strangest places (Wembley,
Amsterdam, New York, Birmingham, for example) because theya re quite
contrary buggers at best.

I saw the two gigs they did with Underworld. Amazing both bands. But then
again, I've seen a few (hundred) gigs and no.1 and no.2 will always be New
Order at Manchester in July 98, and at Reading the month after. (reading is
now out on DVD, so go buy!)

okay, in my life can prolly be gotten from the normal us release of bring
back my happiness, lots of online stores still sell it, many of whome ship
worldwide. walnut's on the mute 2cd of animal rights, as is reject. every
one of my problems is on revolver remix 2. dog heaven's on end of
everything, or you can get the single for it. all of those are still
available from mute's online ordering system (also ships worldwide) last i
checked.

Question for anyone who may know, maybe you Martin? Did Rollo from
Faithless produce anything on their new CD? He did the one track with them
on "The Beach" soundtrack and there were reports at the time he was going
to produce more tracks on their full length CD. As a Faithless/Rollo
collector just curious if I should track this down.

Don't know if anyone's noticed this...

the audio megamix CD on the Region 2 Play DVD only comes to approx 62.mins
in length, and finishes just before the "Natural Blues" Mike D mix kicks in.
Given there's an extra 18 minutes on an audio CD, and the megamix is about
18 minutes longer than the "Megamix" CD, does anyone know why we've been
shortchanged?

here's my guess, and it's purely a guess...
they didn't want the mike d mix on the cd 'cause it's such a break in
style continuity, but they didn't wanna go to the effort of actually
re-hauling the dj mix to not have it. hell, they didn't even wanna go to
the effort of indexing the cd into seperate tracks.
again, this isn't substatiated fact, just a theory.

Ahh, the duo returns -

  Well I just wanted to let everyone know that my email wasn't being used
all that much cause I was busy with nothing.  So anyway, how is everyone.  I
was at the Area:One Tour in New Jersey and I saw Moby for the third time.
He was sorta the same as his last two shows I saw him in.  One of the shows
was about 4 or 5 years ago.  I touched his bald head when he dove into the
crowd on that show in Irving Plaza.  And then I saw him at Hunka Bunka and
met another Mobility member (Elie) in the crowd.  LOL  We were both singing
all the words to all of his songs and sorta acknowledged each other.  LOL  I
was able to shake his hand when he came to the very front of the stage.  It
was amazingly perfect!  I TOUCHED HIM!!  LOL  So anyway, his Area:One tour
was amazing and the DJ's were simply perfect.  I was there dancing the whole
time and I had a blast!  Oakie and Cox were outstanding and Liquid Todd was
very good.  I had amazing seats too.  Whew.   Anyways, I hope everyone is
still not done with Moby, he's got alot left in him to give us.  Talk to you
later.  And Matt, don't let the man keep you down.  DJ Pagan, I am always

I went to Area: One here in Washington @ The columbia river gorge... it was=
 amazing.  even though the wind was blowing hard at times, and the=
 temperature was about 90 degrees (with clouds!!!) i can't say that i=
 didn't enjoy any of the acts.

unfortunately, i didn't catch oakenfold, timo maas, or the other djs, with=
 the exception of half of vegan's set.  the scheduling was too weird,=
 leaving only 5-10 minutes between acts on the mainstage, and i was really=
 interested in checking them all out.

rinocerose was just cool!  i'd honestly never checked out their stuff=
 before, but i couldn't help but groove to them when they played.=
  definitely an album that i'll pick up.  they had a great stage presence.=
  i really enjoyed all the other acts too, with the exception of new order=
 (gets ready to be flamed)... the sound while they played was soo muddy and=
 loud, it was hard to hear the words.  it seemed to me that sir billy=
 corgan only made more "noise" than actually doing the music any justice.=
  but that's just how it sounded to me.  outkast was really really cool,=
 and it was interesting to see how the crowd changed when they came on!=
  but i was certainly there to catch moby, and i managed to get right in=
 front for it.  what a beautiful place to see a show... moby agreed.  no=
 reserved seats, all GA, he put on a great show, and it was outdoors.  i=
 couldn't have asked for anything more (except maybe carl cox to be there!=

  Well the people I went to the show with were pretty much there for Incubus
and the atmosphere, so it wasn't the GREATEST crowd to go with .  But oh
well.  My brother wasn't too happy with Moby at all (since he doesn't like
his music one bit).  He didn't like that he Moby was running around the
stage and screaming into the mic.  But then he just loooooooooooved Outkast.
I don't understand the boy.  I think he might just hate Moby because I was
always trying to shove it down his throat all those years and years ago.

see how the crowd changed when they came on!  but i was certainly there to
catch moby, and i managed to get right in front for it.  what a beautiful
place to see a show... moby agreed.  no reserved seats, all GA, he put on a
great show, and it was outdoors.  i couldn't have asked for anything more
(except maybe carl cox to be there! :( )

Collectable Radiohead box set coming.

Radiohead release a collectable 'i-Mac' styled box-set of 6 CD EPs on Sep
15. The set is designed to look like an 'i-Mac' computer and finished in a
translucent ice-blue with printed desktop info and Radiohead logos. The set
includes a mini radio complete with headphones and Radiohead logo, mouse-pad
and navy blue t-shirt also with matchstick person logo. The set is part of a
limited edition and each one comes with a numbered certificate.

The six CDs are Paranoid Android Part 1, Paranoid Android Part 2, Karma
Police Part 1, Karma Police Part 2, No Surprises Part 1 and No Surprises

It's not known how many copies will be available or which store will stock

in 1985 and only collected on the Singles 81-85

Why not get a login for your ftp, the anonymous account you had is bound to
attract warez, my Mobility account hasnever been abused (even hardly ever
been used for that matter... :), but if then someone gives you trouble just
change the account name or password, really easy..

Ah, thank you for the information, indeed, I was a victim of this little bot
operation.  I've modified the permissions so that no one can d/l from the
upload directory anymore, and that is the only place you can write to.
Anyway, I appologize for thinking it was someone on this list, anyway, the

This list was first started in 1996 on Oct  24th.  There were a few
fans that would post comments to a news group that existed.  I was and
currently am a member of other mailing lists and I felt Moby deserved

he'd written that many, but i think it's more like 140 or 150 tops... someone

I read Moby would like to release it sooner but there's a lot of technical
things that have to happen first at V2, and music videos and things like

a flutter of the performance... now reverb has done a
special on the highlights of the Area:One line up (Moby,
Nelly Furtado, Outkast, and Roots) and we hear not one peep
about it on the list... I only found out about it because my
landlords hooked up hbo yesterday for Madonna's big gay
extravaganza simulcast on the premium network this weekend
(which, yes, I did record to vhs and digital audio). If
anyone got to see the Moby performance or perhaps taped it
I'd love to hear about it.

Not only that, Brad, but the entire list seems like its hit a brick wall.
I'd be willing to say all the Moby bandwagoners are finally gone (in that
his TRL-like fleeting popularity seems to have waned), and just in time for
his new album, which I predict will not be received as well as Play was.
That's all beside the point, however.  Even the geriatric mobility members
aren't posting much.  This seems natural though --  no recent releases, no
controversy, no speculation, etc...

I can't believe no one has heard anything more on Moby collaborating with
[name forgotten] to produce/mix the score for M. Night's next film.

BTW, my bastard school has been updating/upgrading/and just generally
screwing around with our DHCP server, so my IP address has been jumping

If I were face to face with you, maam, I would slap you silly until you
could take no more.  Besides this, I don't think that your post really shows
that you know the first thing about her.  "She should stick to movies"?
She's been in only a few, and Dancer in the Dark was her first in almost 15
YEARS, and while a great film and great performance, it didn't do so good at
the box office.  Now let's look at her music career... She received
classical music training since she was a small child, releasing her first
album at about 10 years old.  She spent several years in one of Europe's
most popular bands of the early 90s -- the Sugarcubes, not to mention they
were EXTREMELY critically acclaimed.  Following that she proved her solo
career with 3 multiplatinum albums, countless other productions, and praise
after praise has been heeped upon her by almost every legitimate music
critic in the industry.  Despite all of this you think that she should
"stick to movies"?

As for "i just don't think she gets it", I have no retort to that.  It would
be like trying to argue with someone who still claims the earth is flat.

Buy Vespertine and the rest of her discography, then maybe we'll talk again.

multiplatinum record sales and her involvement with the band the Sugarcubes,
i personally cannot buy a full length cd of hers and enjoy it throughout...
i don' t know if that makes me ignorant or not but it does take a bit of
patience to be able to listen to her music and really get it...
now, i do have one single of hers.."all is full of love", and i love that
song..it's melodic and beautiful...
i have listened to her previous albums, and i have really tried to understand
her musically, but i just don't get it..

understood..
but i listen to music that turns something on inside of me...and she really

Not at all.  I'm sure that she has just as many bandwagon fans that do it
because its the "right thing to do" or the "fashionalbe" thing to do as Moby
has.  I am a fan because I love her music.  I love her style, shit I
literally love HER! Besides that, here in the good ol' U.S. of A. at least,
she's not popular at all.  I met a girl the other day who said she'd never
even heard of Bjork before; I was flabergasted at even the prospect of not
knowing her--she's WORLD famous.  But as usual the pulse of mainstream
american music is in more of a cardiac arrest than rather than a healthy
BPM/systalic level.  Perhaps this will be HER break out album in the US just
as Play was for Moby, perhaps not.  In any case I don't give a shit about
what other people think because other people are fucking retards when it
comes to music.  I have to give you credit for at least listening to it(if
infact you actually did give it a decent hard listen) and rejecting it
rather than being completely ignorant of it.

believe me, i did give it a listen..i remember seeing Bjork in a Sugarcubes
music video and finding her so adorable and liking the music the Sugarcubes
offered...it reminded me of what brasilian bands at the time were attempting
to do but obviously never received radio play..
i would never criticize Bjork if i had not listened to her music...like i
said, the one single that almost makes me cry when i listen to is "all is
full of love", but then again, the remixes for that song is what i like the
most...her voice does add a certain beauty to it...

upon first listen, i don't like verspertine very much.  however, i got
the hidden place singles a couple days before the album and _really_
love disc1 and like disc2 a lot.  hidden place is a _great_ song, even
though the rest of the album (except the music box track) didn't do
much for me (yet).
however, almost all of selmasongs was _great_, especially scatterheart
and new world (and the duet with thom yourke, of course).

the only one, huh?  and _almost_?  shit...
"hyperballad"... "joga"...  _definitely_ make me cry.  very much amongst
the most beautiful music ever created.

and "aeroplane" from debut...

hey folks. i'm back from vacation, not that any of you
missed me...


thanks for posting the new ftp url. guess what? at our
radio station, we have a computer hooked up to the
console, so we can play mp3s and stuff on the air.
nice! so i get to play lots of tracks by friends and
stuff. and bootlegs and stuff. so i'll be playing some
rare moby stuff off the ftp site. don't worry, i won't
say the url of the site or anything. i'll lie and say
i actually found the rare 12"s or whatever ;)


and also, i haven't seen this discussed here, and
sorry if you watch tv and stuff and are sick to death
of hearing about this... but is anyone else really sad
that aaliyah died? i wasn't a huge fan, but i had a
lot of respect for her as a person. she was a nice
person, and she did her music and her movies because
she loved doing them, and she didn't let her ego
overshadow her work, and stuff like that. and she
wasn't a bad singer either. and considering how
diabolicly evil pop music is today, it's really sad
that she died, and like, why her and not mariah? or
eminem? or puff daddy? or fred durst? or... damn, a
lot of people. why did one of the few practically
innocent people in pop music have to die? what the
fuck?



so anyway, i'll start out my next show with a moment
of silence and a few of her songs. btw, i'll be on
this friday morning 2-6am eastern (thursday night) on
wpkn.org or 89.5FM out of bridgeport ct...


besides that, lots of electronic-y stuff, you know,
whatever i get around to playing.... including some
new aphex (wink wink)... and a really good jennifer
lopez remix someone i know did... don't worry, it
sounds like Funkstorung, he just uses a cut-up j.lo
sample in it...

Well, seeing as I have seen him play live 5 times in
London between 1999 - 2000 and also at V2000 (making
it a total of 6 times in a year! Mad for his music or

not touring on British soil was made (no offence meant

unlucky!!!)
