"since i'm sure we've all listened to aegitis byrjun,
here's something my friend and i discovered about the
sublime track staralfur that just blew my mind.
the string bridge or whatever towards the end,
specifically 4:34-5:28, is exactly the same backwards
and forwards.
one of the most beautiful sections of modern music is
actually an engineered piece of symmetry. it blows
the mind. it elevates this band to all new heights...
i just can't fathom how this is possible and yet,
there it is for me to listen to.
just thought people might get a kick from it."

haha, not really. but you remember a while ago someone
here posted that they heard "trucks and cars" by S&O
and said that they used the same breakbeat that moby
uses in "south side"? well, theres an S&O fan who did
a huuuuuge analysis on this.
you can find it on www.sifl-n-olly.net
click on either sifl or olly
clik on where it says ARTICLE when it mentions this
story
click on the bottom link where it says "the truth
about that song stealing bastard, moby!"
theres fucking sound clips and everything.
haha. now OBVIOUSLY, these silly S&O fans know nothing
about breakbeats and sampling and actually making
electronic music. i have heard this same beat in
several other songs (mostly acid jazz type songs) i
don't know where it came from, but since i've heard it
in this many songs, it's obviously just some
run-of-the-mill public domain beat. there's probably
tons of underground, unheard-of hip hop tracks that
use the same beat. there's tons of beats like this.
its just that... most S&O fans, as cool as they may
be, aren't DJ's or producers themselves, so they
wouldn't know about this stuff, right?
nevertheless, it is kinda entertaining.
ROCK!!!!!!

did anyone hear about the radio station that got fined
for playing "Your Revolution" by DJ Vadim and Sarah
Jones??!?!? in a land where fucking "It Wasn't Me" can
hit number one and everyone approves, if someone plays
shit like this they get attacked. this song is against
the misogyny and violence that occur in music today.
sorry to sound preachy, and to go off topic, but i
know there are a few Ninja Tune fans here, and
definitely some free speech supporters.
so please sign this petition!!!!

friend fucking yr girlfriend. he even says "butt naked
on the bathroom floor" in the song. and it fucking
goes to number 1 and nobody bats an eye. and this
sarah jones song is actually pretty tame from what my
friend said (sorry, i've only heard it once and i
forgot how it goes ;) and shit like this gets played
all the time on noncommercial radio, and the radio
station gets fined for playing it. fuck, i think i'll
play this on my next show! (if the version on xen cuts
is like this... maybe it's a different version than
the one that was played... i guess the version on
gilles patterson's mix cd is not that explicit
either...)
anyway. i just graduated yesterday, and ran around
frantically trying to find this girl i'd had a huge
crush on, so i could say goodbye to her. i couldnt
find her for a while. finally i found her, and hugged
her, and told her i'd miss her. and she was smiling as
much as i was, so it was all good. but now, i really
wished i'd said more to her, told her i loved her,
asked to get in touch, etc. i'm feeling better now
tho. i think the "screw it! you don't need her! you'll
find someone better than her at college!" voices in my
head are coming back ;) and i'm even starting to think
that i'll see her again. or at least hear from her.
but fuck... i felt so terrible last night and this
morning.
anyway
ROCK!!!!!!

<DIV>We had discussed this at the radio station that I work at. I think that it is completely wrong that the station was fined because of the song. I have heard the song and there is no way that it can be considered vulgar when Shaggy, Nelly, Eminem, Limp Bizkit etc...are played on commercial radio. It makes me worry because I play some very political stuff on my radio show that I could possibly be fined for. (stuff from the Manic Street Preachers to Screwball). </DIV>

Wow, the Tomb Raider Soundtrack sounds good...better check it out.
And I'm going to the SF Area:One on July 31 and sitting pretty close to the front. I went to a Tower Records early on the first sale day in an area that's not too populated so I figured the line would be short. As soon as I got there the line got so long & all for Area:One. So I have no idea what's going wrong in SoCal. I guess that's one reason why I moved away from there (haha?). But damn I wished I'd gone to see Juno Reactor (love track 2: tribal-invasion-chainsaw music)...
But I went to the movies the other nite & saw an IMAX poster for an All Access movie/show with Moby performing at the very end (after others like the Roots, Parliment Funkadelic, the Rev.Al Green). I probably won't see it because I can't sit through Sting's new crap or Rob Thomas or Macy Gray or Dave Matthews. But I'd like to see the Backstage stuff from Moby -- http://webevents.broadcast.com/yahoo/allaccess/index.html
Just thought I'd share...
