I also have seen one shot with a .45/70 shilo sharps at 30 yds right through the lungs. That animal died pretty quick but not as quick as a good brain shot. M. Branson

I have seen as you say "brain shots" from the front and rear, they don't always work due to distance, angle and of course the shooter, it is a small area to hit.
Have seen a number shot through the lungs and like you say it will take a few minutes for them to get sick and then the work starts.
I have put down 6 animals, not like the dozen Buck has, but I'm sure he would agree with what we have said Mike.
