  27. There is the Northwest Fur Post near Pine City, Minnesota. 
  28. Reconstructed post on an actual site, they have a new interpretation
  29. center opening this year.  Across the St. Croix and north is Forts Folle
  30. Avoine, reconstructed Northwest and XY posts as well as a museum, to bad
  31. you'll be early for the Midwest Nationals that will be there 3rd week in
  32. July.  Folle Avoine (means crazy oats or wild rice) is north of Webster,
  33. Wisconsin.

  146. Man, oh man, do them Hudson Bay boys know how to have a good time! I'm just 
  147. back from a longboat expedition up the Chehalis River with Mister Work and 
  148. Mister McKay in search of an easy water route to the Frasier. Two and a half 
  149. days at the oar, and wading through knee deep sucking mud with a blazing sun 
  150. and swarms of mosquitos was about as much fun as a guy could stand!
  151.  
  152. I signed on as the Chief Scout for the trip which meant I'd be the first one 
  153. out of the boat, into the mud, and search for hostiles in the briars, 
  154. stinging nettles, and devils club.... All for 10 pounds, and an extra ration 
  155. of rhum! The Doc sez my hands should relax form the claw position to normal 
  156. in a few days, but the cuts, blisters, and bruises will take awhile longer.

  158. I'm amazed at what the HBCo did in the land I live in and have a great 
  159. respect for how they did it.
  160.
