Appologies to Iron Tounge, but most of us spinners do not have a pile of
flax just laying around. Most of us spin wool at demonstrations. You will
find the occasional spinner doing flax, but I don't know too many of us who
even like spinning flax even when we know how.
That said, flax is available through spinning suppliers. If someone would
like to have a short list of suppliers, please email me privately. Another
option is to surf the net for suppliers.

John,
Can you summarize the procedure for those of us who don't have that
particular issue?
Thanks

Well depending on which state try your local Jr. College most don't even require a BA. but since you have a MA in Ed. you might have a bigger foot in the door.

Basically, how do I get back into the education field. I have a BS and a MS in
Education but am not certified and do not especially want to go back to school
for core classes. I am 32 years old, and have a family to support, so going
back to school is not really an option at this time. I am interested in
getting into a living history program as well as instructing in the field and
was looking for some pointers as to my best course of action. I am at a
crossroads in my life and need a new direction ( which is really neither here
nor there) but it seems that history is what I always come back to. Thanks for
listening to my rambling. (I forgot that my mail system does not copy
automatically what I am responding to, so I apologize for the ambiguous (sp)
cry for help.
Thanks for your time.

Subject: MtMan-List: Speaking of Bent's Fort . . .
Is there anyone out there besides me on the volunteer list for Bent's Fort
and going to the Santa Fe Trail encampment there July 24-26? I don't know
how many are on the NPS Volunteers in the Parks (VIP) list for Bent's but
it seems that some of you who "do" c.1833-1848 should see about getting the
form and filling it out. Bent's interprets 1846, and I'm doing a trader
impression. VIP status allows you to receive invitations to do historical
events at the site. It's a good way to get into doing events for the NPS.
I am on several VIP lists for NPS sites, including Fort Davis, and Fort
Larned, as well as some Civil War sites. It might be a bit late for the up
coming event at Bent's, but it's worth looking into for future events.
For information, call Bent's Fort at 719/383-5010 and ask about the VIP
program and get an application form.
Cheers,
HBC
