Does anyone else feel a little let down by the promises made during the
chat.
1. new video "1972"
2. new Men Without Hats album out by January 98
3. new Ivan material out around the same time
4. promo package from Tox
5. world domination
(okay, the last one I really wasn't expecting!)
I wonder if Ivan is feeling a bit let down too.
also...I've put "Nationale 7" on my Gallery of Cover Art page

welp, one outta five ain't too bad;)
personally, i wouldn't be surprised if the new MWH material came out around
the first part of `99...
dunno about the Ivan material...
promo package/TOX...*stifling much giggling*....
world domination?...
been there, done that....
NEXT?
;)
i certainly do not feel let down...the only direction from where this all
stands for now is forward, and whatever happens re: the other stuff will happen
at it's own pace...what we have for now is good enough for me, as there is
only MORE to look forward to:)

1. Well, there is a video for "1972 (Slippin' Away)", I haven't seen it :(
But others on the list have. Can anyone describe what happens in the video?
2-4. It is usually difficult to release an album by the proposed deadline.
Maybe there are final tracks recorded but there wasn't any time to put
together the album. Maybe it's also because of the ice storm Montreal
endured in January which delayed the album. Maybe Ivan meant in January
they would start recording. As for the promo package, a theory I have is
maybe Ivan was a little over his head when he gave us the phone number.
suddenly, everyone on the list dialed it and got an answering machine.
Maybe it got erased? Who knows. Maybe the promopackages got lost (it could
happen). Maybe they are still being made?
5. Well, that takes time :) So far, some of us on the list are doing a
good job initializing it. For example, the bootlegs are pretty popular and
so are the t-shirts! Now we have a fan-produced cover CD on the drawing
board. A few fan websites and Ivan on Camilla Scott and TSN! What will be
next? Ivan on "Definition"? :D

Instead of not going to the show, I'm tempted to unsubscribe form the
list. All these long winded responses are this close to useless in my
mind: The people who write them are doing nothing. I just don't read them,
and I don't want them in my inbox any more.
I'd like to read things about Men Wihtout Hats, not about how we can all
get along, or who said what or what anyone else thinks about what anyone
said. I just don't care, and from the list of contributors, I'd guess most
of us list readers don't care either.
In the interest of the list, please take issue with someone via e-mail. If
you want others' opinions, have them send it via e-mail and post a
(brief!) summary.
As for the venue, admission and ticket policies, guest list and play list,
none of you care what I think (and if you do, get help), so I will keep it
to myself or send my concerns to Francis and wait to see what is finalized
THEN decide if I want to attend.

Hello.
Just wanted to say that I ordered The Spell from HMV in Toronto 1-800

authorisation, though, and I did use my visa card... it was less than $18
US including shipping.
I have also used A&B Sound in Vancouver (they didn't have The Spell on
release date). www.absound.ca They have the cheapest cds in Canada (and
likely the word, given the Canadian $ exchange rate, which is about .60
US!! They should also have PGTW, Greatest Hats, 21st Century, etc...

Yikes! That is terrible. Does Jolene have your e-mail password?
This would be the only way that she could have sent hate mail to Ivan with
YOUR e-mail address.
I am quite impressed that he actually replied to your e-mail. Ivan is a
very busy guy and he NEVER has time to reply to his TOX e-mail much less
read any of it.

It seems to me much more likely that Jolene "spoofed" a message "from"
Ivan's address. Making messages appear to come from an address not one's
own is an old trick. It seems unlikely that all of a sudden, the "deaf"
tox folks wake up and send a mean message (never mind Ivan himself). I
doubt anyone up there at Tox was involved or knows anything about it.
But, who knows? Shrug.

Subject: (hats) Ivan or not Ivan
I am sory to hear that you and your friend aren't on good terms right now:(
I doubt that Ivan would send you hate e-mail. Not only is it unprofessional
(he owns Tox Records) but he doesn't seem to be the type of person to do
that (some people on the list met him and say he is a very nice person).
Unless your friend is a hacker genius, I doubt he/she hacked into his
e-maila count and sent you that e-mail. With netscape, you can change your
address to a different one. For example, your friend probably used netscape
and changed his/her address to ivan@toxrecords.com. There are some web
sites that let you send e-mail to others by changing your adress. Such
sites let yous end hate mail to your boss, for example. Maybe that is what
your friend did. If he/she actually sent you that mail. Maybe it was
someone else playing a joke?
I am not sure how you can verify that it was indeed Ivan or someone else who
sent you the mail. I would discard it and pretend nothing happened. Your
friend might eventually ask about it then you'll know for sure. I would
wait to see if you get another one. Even if Ivan did send such an unlikely
e-mail to you, I highly doubt he would send another one! :) He is a very
very very busy person apparently flying fron Montreal, Toronto, and New York
on a frequent basis. Does anyone know what he does in those cities?

Hi hatters.
I spoke to Dave Byrne regarding our private show.
Instead of giving my comments (because it's not something I want to put

- ---------------
Mr. Byrne :" I received some news from Ivan, he's not enthousiastic to do a

Francis: "Money is not a problem, we are ready to pay 35$ per ticket, if we
are 200, it's 7000$ PLUS tell him again we are the REAL FANS, only the
cream"
Mr. Byrne :" I already told that to Ivan."
Francis :"If Ivan is alone, would it be possible to get old MWH songs ??"
Mr. Byrne :" Unfortunately, there is only 2 songs from MWH, PGTW and SAFETY
DANCE. He goes on stage with a DAT (instrumental version) and he is signing
over".
Francis: "Could you insist again???"
Mr. Byrne :" I'll see what I can do."

Ivan wants to be known as IVAN, the SOLO ARTIST.
I have nothing more to add, I don't want to write bad words against the
artist.
I will wait any development this week, Don't worry, I WANT THIS SHOW.
Are you interested to get Ivan only????

Ivan's friend Lee was a very talented tailor. One night, at a party,

Ivan, his friend Richie, and Richie's wife Coco were at this party.
They couldn't really believe that Lee's new fabric could be that

his purchase and showing them how fabulous it was. Alas, Lee had downed
a few too many beers, and as he began to come down the stairs, an

He fell forward, the fabric unrolling around him as he tumbled. He came

Subject: (hats) clarify this too :) & Ivan's decision
about the song Freeways, is it an actual single or previously unreleased
track? For it to be a single, it was released on an EP after RoY with 4
others songs which just happen to be the ones from their first EP. Yet, all
the different versions were available on the RoY cassette. Then again,
"Freeways" on the EP was a remix. Come to think of it, I guess that's why
Ivan called it a secret single on the RoY tour.
As for the private concert, it is a shame that Ivan doesn't want to do the
concert. Personally, I don't mind. It would have been great, but you have
to respect his wishes. I'm still going to Montreal this summer anyway (it's
fun to travel!) but I wonder why Ivan wanted to be known as Ivan the solo
artist an dnot Ivan the Men Without Hats. I mean, on Camilla Scott he said
a Men Without Hats CD will be released some time from now. Maybe after all
the hard work he put into "The Spell" he still wants to promote that and
himself as a solo artist. Sure I'd be interested in seeng Ivan the solo
artist but to tell you the truth, it would be too awkward. Or maybe I am
hopeing to get a chance to see Men Without Hats in concert as i wasn't able
to before. I know Ivan as Men Without Hats not Ivan as th solo artist.
Maybe it's too soon to think that way. If he relased another solo album,
then it can be safe to think of him as the solo artist.
Well, whatever Ivan says, I wouldn't be too sad. We tried our best (LOTS OF
APPLAUS TO FRANCIS!!) and got father than we ever thought imaginable. Hey,
Ivan seems to be considering it, after all he or his manager asked if we
would be interested in only Ivan the solo artist performing.

Wasn't the 7" for National7 released before ROY and right after FOLKI.
Back then Freeways was called National7 only.
I am almost positive that all the other versions were also recorded in 80
as well. Freeways Euromix, may have been remixed in 85 but im not sure.
Anyone?

Hey,

You all have to remember, Ivan is very busy with his "The Spell" Tour. He
is also very busy working on a new album -- at the same time. In order
for this concert to happen, Ivan would have to not only switch to his older
keyboards, but relearn how to play them and learn Alan M's parts as well.
Then he would need to put together ANOTHER tour theme -- just for our one
show.
This would take a great deal of time. I am guessing that this is why Ivan
is against it. Not worth the effort to put together a whole ACT for just
one show.
