Hey
I guess I missed the boat - What show and what is this about a CD and
video. And why do so many people love the winter. If you love it soooo
much, move to Winnipeg. Winter are full of cold weather and lots of
snow here.

Hey all,
I am employed at an audiovisual company, so Tom, if Myke doesn't want to
take on this project, or needs help, I'd be happy to compile and dub.

I adore men without hats, but only have 3 cd,s Pop goes the world, men =
and
women.....21st..., and the compilation called "the collection".
I've read here and there that someone burned some CD's of their stuff =
into a
set of 3, do you know where I might purchase that?
Thanks!!!!

Subject: (hats) Ivan CD rocks the house
Date: 02 Jun 1998 15:07:26 +0000
Well I finally ordered the new IVAN cd and all I can say is
WOW!
Much, Much better than sideways. I really like his new solo album and
I am so glad he got away from the grudge sideways sound.
Open you eyes and 1972 are great songs along with a few others. The
rap song pretty much sucks though and I dont know why it is even on
the album.
I know alot of folks really didn't like the new IVAN album. I guess
it is a little more techno/dance added into it. I use to listen to
alot of techno/trance music also so maybe that is why I like it. I
am so glad though that he changed the style of his music from his
last album (Sideways)
If you have not gotten it yet I would recommend getting it. I bought
mine from www.cdnow.com
It would be cool if he redid safety dance to his new electronic style
sounding music. I love the safety dance version that Ivan did on
bootleg 8 - I just wish we had a better recording of it.
BTW I have alot more bootlegs left if anybody wants them. I was
getting sick of making one or two at a time so I went ahead and made
like 10 of each of them so I can just mail them out. If anybody wants
anymore of the bootlegs let me know. My web page can be found at
www.holdman.com/mwh for track listings of the songs on these cds.

Two weekend ago, I was on the train, going to Detroit Michigan. I had my MWH

about MWH and they took the internet address.
To the man who talked to me >> Did you get back to Detroit ????

I figure this will be in intrest to thos that like the 80s and are
looking for rare videos.
For those that are intrested I have a
Video FTP server that I run. These are Music Videos recorded
Of my Dishnetwork system from M2 and then converted to MPEG video
format.
I have lots of 80s music videos are are hard to find.
Be warned though that these files run from 25-30 megs per video so it
might be kind of painfull to download if you only have a modem
connection (you can always cue them to download right before you go
to bed :)
If you want to get on to it Use a FTP client.
The IP address is 207.201.68.196
and Make sure you use port 1234 (port 21 is the default for ftp
sites)
Username = music
password = video

Greetings, all..... I've been a MWH fan since the day I saw the
Safety Dance video on MTV in the early 80's.I had the pleasure of seeing
them live at The Ritz in NYC, and they were GREAT! I also like The
Spell, and look forward to Ivan's next album.
I want to thank you for all of the information and insights you've
already given me, re what's going on, what's available and where, etc.
(checked out some of the archives). You've cut down my "search time", so
I have more time to enjoy The Music:)

I know I'm gonna get shouted at by people who reckon this channel should
only be used for MWH related topics... but life is too short! If you're
one such person then please delete this message now.
I dont want to join an 80's list then post this info as I'm sure I'd be
swamped with requests. I thought I'd ask my virtual hats chums first!
I've recently found one of my "12" singles on CD" CD's and wondered if
anyone else would like a copy? 'Classic' 12" singles from here in the UK
in the early 80's, transfered to digital a few months ago and I must
admit that it sounds great...
track listing:
1) b movie - nowhere girl (6:31)
2) portion control - the great divide (6:44) (thats for you tom!!)
3) this island earth - see that glow (5:31)
4) boom boom room - here comes the man (6:24)
5) b movie - rememberence day (4:21)
6) fiat lux - secrets (3:40)
7) belouis some - some people (7:35)
8) boom boom room - love your face (5:06)
9) b movie - switch on/switch off (7:00)
10) radio heart/gary numan - radio heart (5:59)
11) this island earth - take me to the fire (6:22)
12) feargal sharkey - loving you (6:03)
All tracks sound very clean, and i even processed some of the worst
clicks so it all sounds wonderful. If you are worried about quality then
dont be - I have a pretty impressive Macintosh system here and do this
kind of thind quite often. - "Quality and Quantity" is a phrase I should
use but have never got round to!
i have a load more 12" singles so this is only the first volume. Cost
will probably be a 10 pound note (UK Sterling) which will include postage
to anywhere in the world, though other places might cost extra!! If you
want quite rare english electronic tracks from the 80s - look no further!
(sales pitch there, as if you hadn't noticed).
If you are interested then please contact me directly so that we can
exchange info.

does anyone have the proper lyrics to "Security"? I'm doing this little
tune for the compilation, so a MIDI file would be pretty handy as a
starting point as well, though it'll be changed somewhat when I've
finished with it. NIN meets Depeche somewhere in downtown London - could
be a good combination!!

Hey Everybody!
I don't know how useful it will be with regard to the goings-on
of this list but I went out last night and bought a Sony MDS-JE510
MiniDisc deck and can now make copies of the Hats CDs using that
format instead of VHS HiFi only. I first read about MiniDiscs
in 1992 and have never ceased to be amazed by how slow America has
been (and continues to be) about embracing this format. For those
of you who think you need a PeeCee or a Mac to have tight, seamless,
and professional-quality digital editing of audio material, you've
got a lot to learn if you don't know about MiniDisc! Until yesterday,
I had no idea what one of these things could do and now that I've
had some time to experiment with one, I'm completely stunned.

I just ordered a CD from:
www.NewWorldCds.com
and saw on their page a MWH radio show on CD from the In the 21st
century era. It's over 60 minutes long and contains 6 tracks from the
album including an exclusive 8+ minute "street mix" of In the 21st
century, in addition to conversation with Ivan. Price was $19.99
Canadian. Limited quantities. HURRY!

I second the praise. I've had an MD deck since 94 and was very impressed
with all it could do. Sadly, though, mine died last October, it plays
but won't record, but I plan on getting a new one in August when the new
models come out. I suggest everybody do the same. No more searching for
out of print titles, just have a friend, or list member, make an MD
copy.

If it was from the first 2 albums I would have snatched it in a

Hi Hatters!
EMI Europe has just released a CD called 'Very best of MWH'. It includes
most of the tracks of the 2-4-1 CD (most tracks of ROY and Folk 3). On
the cover you can read that it's licenced from Oglio, U.S.A..
Is this the 'European Distribution of the 2-4-1 CD', Carl?

It was at that point that I begged Laura for a spot on the 2-4-1 mailings!

People are automatically unsubscribed from the list all the time -- in your
case, Nathan, it was because all mail to your account was bouncing with "user

Hi hatters!!!
Perhaps you can help me !?
Do you know about any existing Live Videos and / or Video Compilations
of our canadian friends ?
Perhaps you could tell me an adress where I can purchase these things.
It's nearly impossible to get MWH Stuff in Germany.
I got 'Pop Goes The World' and '...In The 21st Century' last month (you
don't believe it, do you?).
I got 'Rhythm Of Youth' and 'Folk Of The 80's III' since 1983 / 1984.
Bought 'Pop goes the World' in 1987 and lost it somewhen in '90 (How could
this happen...)
Never knew about the existence of '...In The 21st Century' and 'Sideways'.
Thanx to the Internet and The MWH Sites !!!
Seems as they have never been released in Germany.
Still waiting for 'Sideways', ordered 2 month ago (so let's wait another
month. ...or two, or three ???)
Is there a live-version of 'Walk On Water' availible somewhere ?
(One of my favourites after 'Safety Dance', 'Where Do The Boys Go?' and 'I
Like'.
Thanx in advance...

The guy who is remastering the CDs is VERY busy. I am going to tell you
all why we need to wait on him though.
1. I do have the original CDs here. I have made duplicates and sent them
to another listmember as a backup, just in case. So there is no dire need
to rush them out. They won't go anywhere.
2. This guy is using a studio and sound engineer to remaster the CDs
I don't think we can do any better than this.
Why do the CDs need remastering?
These CD concerts have no post-production done to them whatsoever. These
are RAW soundboard concert recordings.
This means that the CD must be EQed. The sound is very clean, but it is
also VERY Midrange heavy. The highs are there, but they need to be boosted
with a digital EQ (no loss in quality). This is a must.
Also the mids need to be turned down.
There is also some dropouts on the tape. This CD will still be from the
second generation DAT. Digital -> Digital -> digital so we won't be
messing up the recording in any way.
The sound guy is by NO means going to do any dehissing or anything like
that. We aren't going to screw up the sound in any way.
I am just worried that if we stick this CD on Richard's site today.
Then people will be satisfied with the sound quality and just assume that
it sounds like that on stage, which it doesn't.
The pots on the board are adjusted for stage and not CD understand?
The sound quality is going to be around the same quality as the Toronto
CFNY show. There is occasionally even less hiss than that at times. Other
times there is more hiss.
I think this 1984 tape deck was adjusted either too high or too low (hiss)
at times during the show. But I am told by "someone" that this is one of
the best soundboard recording he's heard from an analog cassette from this
long ago. :0
Well,
What do you all think........
Should we do a downloadable version 1 of the CDs for the time being, or
wait for the remastered ones, which will sound 50% better ?

Hi all I have not been on this list for over a year so I'm sure I missed
some stuff. I finally got a copy of the two on one cd, boy was that a
pain to find. The only thing I did not like about it was the version of
safety dance they put on it. I prefer the extended version. I still
think the CD is awsome though. I really did not like the Ivan solo
album. I was so looking forward to it, but it seemed so generic and way
to happy. I hope he does another hats album one day.
Stay groovy
Cary

Hello everyone,
Sory about the offtopic post but I am wondering--since there is a bigger
French population in Quebec--if they sell France98 keychains there? I'm
looking for one with the Fraqnce98 mascot but they don't sell them here (as
far as I know). I'm hoping, if they do sell them in Quebec, if someone can
buy one for me? :)
Merci!
Daniele
