I have met many who do not know Men Without Hats, but I have yet to meet
anyone who knew MWH and didn't like them.

I have the above referenced CD transferred to MiniDisc with the pitch
adjusted to be correct and true-to-life.  I did this by synchronizing
the beats of "I Feel Love" in the concert recording to the beats of
"I Feel Love" in the soundcheck recording which appears in the 1997
videotape recorded by the kewlest Ivan fans subscribed to this list.
Since videotape employs tracking to ensure that tapes playback at
the same speed at which they are recorded, I felt I could use that
video as a reliable source for obtaining the correct playback pitch
for the live Ivan concert - assuming, of course, that the tempo setting
for "I Feel Love" at both events was one and the same.

To the best of my knowledge, Stefan was not a part of Ivan's "The Spell"
solo album or promotional mini-tour in 1997.

Perhaps we can work out a trade for this particular item.

Given that it's an audience recording, I seriously doubt that it's
being considered for "official" release status at any time in the future.

Probaby ver true, I'd be interested in hearing that, does anyone have hte
"Open your eyes" remixes? I lost an Ebay auction for that, and would really
like to hear them. I have tons of rare remixes, by MWH and many other artists.

I can offer a CD-r copy of the Pop Goes the world Interview LP (from 1987.)

Hmmm... Now that's something I don't have.

In fact, there was *nothing* from the PGTW-era (which hadn't already been
officially released) to be found on any of the CDs produced by the members
of this list - back when this list was actually something fun to be subscribed
to - back before "he" came along and did what he did with no good reason and
drained away its lifeblood.

That's why I mentioned it...I noticed nobody had put this on CDr before, so
I could definitely do it. I would still like to hear all those bootlegs
since I'm still an Ivan fan!

I also noticed on the links page, Stefan (he is the one who maintains the
MWH site, isn't he?) has put up a link saying "If you want to discuss MWH
with other folks or take part in a MWH tribute album, go here".  Correct me
if I'm wrong (and I *know* you will), but I think this means that Stefan is
okay with the project and is, at least, willing to work with Tony on the
licensing.  Or did we already know this?  And, BTW, Tony, what are you
thinking of using as a title?  Should we nominate ideas (I have none, at the
moment), or is there already one locked-in?

material from the bootlegs. Am I misreading something? Help!

To me, it sounded like two releases were being talked about in the same
paragraph.  At first, he says that the new material wouldn't be ready
until 2001 sometime.  Then he mentions a "rare recordings" CD that might
be out this fall, which would contain old stuff that we possibly haven't
heard.

Time to start saving my money...

I'd say it's mostly guitar-rock.. pure and simple.
However.. you can detect distinct "Hats" patterns in

These titles are by far the best.. both of them.. so what to do?
Well, they are not necessarily mutually exclusive.
Check this out:
    "Hats Off! - It sounds familiar, but it doesn't sound the same"
Like a subtitle added to the common title Hats Off.
This way we can have our cake and eat it and the title wouldn't
be too long! It's still "Hats Off!".
Think about it!

"Hats off" is simple and trite and fits great.

"For the Mad Hatter" is a good title and proves my theory about all the drugs
people do on this list by integrating the whole alice in wonderland motif.

I propose the title:

"Releasing Tony"

This title fits for two reasons:
(1) Tony in the song "I Like" is kidnapped so long ago, 1983, and we finally
get him back...as we get the hats back

(2) We got a guy named Tony releasing this tribute album. Therefore, the
title is a little obscure and involves everyone on the list knowing the
inside story behind it.

OK, ok, I can take a hint.

Right now Cocoa is in the running for top-ten Labrador Retriever in
the country (in AKC Novice Agility), so I'm actually out every
weekend from now until December 3rd.  There are a few weekends
that we've got local shows, so I promise in between practicing,
taking 5 classes with 3 dogs, and teaching 2 classes, plus that
annoying 50-hr/wk job that pays all our entry fees, I will scope out
the T-shirt situation in my living room.

In the meantime, if the following people who were on the wait list
(and are still patiently waiting) are still on the HATS list, would they
please ping me and reconfirm their T orders...

I was feeling a little down last night, so I pulled out the MWH
video comp and watched it. My favorite vid by MWH is definitely
"In The 21st Century", because it's so positive and energetic and
it's got outer space stuff in it... oh yeah, and the song is great
as well.

But this time I really noticed the mix of the song as presented
in the video. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not an idiot... the
first time I saw the video I could tell that the mix was more
"single" oriented. But last night the video version just
"clicked" with me.

So, after all the long-winded blathering, I have a question: is
the version of "In The 21st Century" from the video available
on CD anywhere? A Canadian comp, or something? I'd love to throw
it on a CD-R and drive around in the car listening to it...

Wonder if anyone can help with this; I remember in about '85 seeing an album
by a band who I seem to recall being from the US, but who it was I'm not
sure. I noticed their LP had a track called Men Without Shame and the back
sleeve of the record had the lyrics printed. As the title of the song
sounded familiar (but it didn't sound the same...), I read them with
interest.

The track was about a band whose lyrics preached respect for women, but
whose behaviour when on tour was very poor in terms of disrespect, treating
women as potential groupies etc. It was a very very pointed, direct
criticism of... well, just to say it read like it was a real life kind of
situation, a genuine attack on... someone. Does anyone know anything about
this??

..so just a curiosity, I pulled 1972 (slippin' away) by Ivan off of
Napster (hey I own a copy too!); it's exactly the same as my CD
version, but seems to have a different woman's vocal in the middle,
"..in about 3 seconds!"
