It's great how MWH continues to provide motivation for young people.
Yesterday over 2000 first-year students at the University of Guelph in
Guelph, Ontario, Canada set a world record by blowing soap bubbles for over
three minutes.
They planned to do it for only one minute, but ended up doing it for the
duration of the song Pop Goes the World!
Way to go, Guelph! And way to go MWH!

Hi! I've been off this list for a while, but some of you might remember me.
I'm making my first trip to Montreal in a few weeks. It's a business trip, so
I'll only have one day to see stuff. Since I know some of you have visited
there of even live there, I thought I'd see if you have any suggestions of
things to see, generally or MWH-related. Any new MWH-related music I should
be loking for from the last year or so? Please email me and let me know.
Thanks!

Hi Hatters!
Some folks had emailed me to see if Hurricane Floyd had blown
me off the map yet, so I thought I'd send a general reply.
From Raleigh (where I work) on west (where I live), we just got lots
of rain and some high winds, but just 50 miles east of Raleigh they
are flooded. My assistant's brother had to be rescued by boat - off
the roof of his house!!!!
And to keep this Hats related, when we evacuated our office
building (the Governor sent us home on Wednesday), we took
home any personal things that were irreplacable (in case the roof
blew off). No one was surprised when I took home my Hats fan-
produced CDs, my autographed copy of The Spell, and two
pictures of Ivan.
On the plus side, though, I did eat a lot of ice cream in case the
power went out - don't want what's in the freezer to go to waste!!!
Hope everyone else is OK. Now I have to get ready (i.e., buy more
ice cream) for Hurricane Gert and Tropical Storm Harvey. :-)
CUL8R!

After listening to the MWH Washington Live album again, I've kinda just
noticed something. THe Eurotheme on the Live album has more feeling than
the one on the FOE3 album. The FOE3 version is quick paced and motivating.
The one on the Wash Live CD made me sad and depressed. I love them both,
but I think I like the one on the WashLive CD better. I dunno, just my
input.
Another quick question - I know there have been some legal issues recently,
but does that mean we can't do a cover CD? I know it's been tossed around a
bit - but I really think we should do it. Even if it takes 2 years to make,
I think it would be the most awesome sounding thing - even though most of us
are on;y amateur artists. I also KNOW there are people out there who have
recording experience, I have a Wailing at Walls tape here -=). So, what say
ye all?
Security, everybody feels better with...

For the Cover CD, I can help compile and do vocals. I can also encourage.
Those are the easy parts. We all are great fans of the band - that much has
been established by our presence. Also, a good deal of us are musically
inclined. I'm sure at least one person out there can pound out some good
drum beats, and I'm sure many of you can nail some good guitar and keyboard
riffs. If you can play it, lemme know. I can then put you onto a task,
i.e. the keyboards on Antarctica or the drums on I Like. People could send
in tapes of the material, mp3s, even CDs, and I could mix them all together
(taking license to fix tempos and volumes, of course). Drums can easily
synthesized on a decent sound card, and I know a few people in town,
including myself, who can sing fairly well. I just need effort on everyone
elses part. 30 minutes a night after work is not all that much effort - and
it's all I would ask. Music is a cathartic experience, and goes well with
an after work glass of wine. Yes, John, it does sound like an awful lot of
work, and it is - but it's worth it for one reason...it's fun! Anyone
willing to volunteer? To do anything? If I can get 10 people together by
October 1st, I think we have a go. 4 would be enough...but we want this to
be a product of "the list" - the ultimate MWH fans, not a band that formed
on the internet that ZDTV advertises once a month -=).
Anyone else behind me, or am I just an eccentric, babbling egotistical
creep?

Yeah, it's been awhile since anyone mentioned the cover cd, hasn't it? I'm
in a band that I guess is punk by default since we're not very good
musicians, and I've always wanted to do some MWH. Also, I play guitar and
piano, but I don't think I have the recording equipment necessary to do an
internet collaboration thing. But if that doesn't matter too much, then
count me in. Maybe we could just do a few songs and post them as MP3s, and
if we continue to do more and get more submissions, we could eventually make
a CD of everything.

I agree completly, and that's my idea. As we get stuff together, post it.
Recording material doesn't have to be great, just something that'll make a
wav file or even a tape. Quality can be worked with by software. This
would by no means be publishing material, but it should still sound good.
We have guitarists, keyboardists, and even someone to help burn stuff. In
total, 4 people are willing to help so far, any others?

Aaron and company,
I play guitar, some bass and would love to lend a hand. I don't have much
recording equipment yet but have wanted to get some for a while so I could
use some advice on MP3, etc. I also have tabbed out most of the MWH
catalog on my webpage. Has anyone seen it? I'd love some feedback and
perhaps some help in doing full guitar and bass TAb as well as ChordPro
format. Attention all hats-list guitarists! Please check it out.

And what is the soundtrack like? Just to throw in some worthless trivia, the
original movie was scored by Christopher Franke (ex Tangerine Dream) who I
believe Ivan has a liking for. Unfortunately (IMO) it was very much an
orchestral soundtrack, is this one in the same vein?
