sometime in the near future and should have a new album out sometime in
late 2000! No specific details have been released yet . . .

Date: 03 Apr 1999 11:54:53 -0500 (EST)
Does anybody in here have the capability of merging the videos in the
video collection with the audio of the same songs from CD and not losing
the A/V synchronization in the process? The video collection is cool
to have but the sound on most of the videos suck because they were
recorded with mono VCRs. These videos really deserve such an upgrade.
What would it take to get an official MWH video collection released
?

Is that Colin with the black hair in the black sleeveless shirt
doing aerobics behind the keyboards in the Le Spectrum de Montreal
concert video?
And is he too the "rapper" / keyboard player behind Ivan in the 1997
Montreal video with the buggy sunglasses?

What's up with the letter "T" being over on the side of the set in the
"I Like" video? It reads like "I LIKE T". Is Ivan *that* fond of tea?

I have noticed many similarities between the Men Without Hats, "Sideways"
video and that of Voivod, "Astronomy Domine". Since Ivan and Voivod have
been known to work together at some level at some time in the past - the
specifics of which I am not sure - could it be that both of these videos
were directed by the same person? Or are these similarities accidental?

The rapper/keyboard player in 1997 is Hugo Bugg.
the videos can not be synced with the cd files because the many of the videos
have audio mixes specific to the videos.
Anyone any ideas about the "T"?
My guess is it is in reference to Christianity, as the song has to do with
those people who claim to have it all figured out, exampled in the video as
preachers and military men- extreme examples of those who live in a reality
where everything is rigidly defined. But who knows? Anyone else?
Michel Langevin, the drummer of Voivod, plays the drums on the Sideways
album. So they could very well have made video similarites on purpose.

Oh yes, I remember that now. Colin is present in the video before
the soundcheck. I couldn't imagine how he'd come to look so different
before and during the show! Thanks for putting me back on track.
Um, so what was Colin's role regarding the shows promoting "The Spell"?

I'll be this isn't the case with all of them. I think it's still worth
a try. The question is, what kind of equipment would it take? I could
give it a shot with my two HiFi VCRs and my MiniDisc deck but...

Before I saw the video, I only the lyrics to ponder. The lyrics seem
to refer simply to ignorant, rich, teenaged brats who think they know it all.
I find it disturbing when I see people having such negative opinions of
the clergy and the military. They make a lot more sense to me than people
who think the world is going to pop if North Americans keep eating
hamburgers.

Hmmm... Have you seen the Voivod video for "Astronome Domine"?
The camera swoops around and over and under the drum kit and the band
in much the same way it does in "Sideways" - but to an even greater effect.
It's pretty kewl. I have it on a videotape of MTV. (Oh, geez! I'm really
dating myself now by saying that! MTV hasn't played videos in years!)

I always thought that the "T" in the I Like video represented
'Tony.' In the line:
"They kidnapped Tony, hey, where did they go..."
I figured since it was his friend's brother or something, that he was
paying homage to him through this video.

Hi everyone,
This might be trivial but Muchmusic played the video for "Sideways" today.
I think it was part of a half-hour best videos of the past type show.

I just put these online a few minutes ago.
There are so far only 10 indices online and this Table Of Contents
page is not yet incorporated officially into my site's navigational
structure but I thought you might like to see this stuff anyway...

This is just a note to all of you that I've begun to create and upload
the indices for all of my MiniDiscs full of radio recordings made all
throughout the 1980s, well, from 1979 to 1999 actually although most
of them are from the 1980s. I've only got the complete sets for a couple
of stations online so far and will not be able to add more until Monday.
Anyway, it's a start. If you've got any 1980s radio tapes, let me know.
Perhaps we can work out a trade. The majority of my recordings are
straight-thrus (i.e. with DJ-chatter and commercials as well as with
songs).
http://people.delphi.com/mykec/index.html
Just click on the Zzapp!! above the Acid Purple Flower then
click on the "boombox" radio icon.
Also, if you wanna hang around for awhile, you can always scroll
down a bit at my front page until you find the "What's New?" link.
That'll keep you updated about new, kewl things that I add as I do so.
Enjoy!

Not especially. A bit of damaged siding is all the trouble we had.
Basically, the firemen saved our house. The Columbus, Ohio, paper, the
Dispatch, ran an article today. It's at
http://www.columbusdispatch.com/pan/news/jeffernws.html
in case you're interested.
We were back at home last night, and we even had our phone service back
up. Considering that Wednesday morning the phone lines were melted,
that's pretty good service!
I appreciate the kind words from everybody. It was especially good to
hear from you, Dr. Laura. You're one of the ones I'd lost the
addresses for--an error I've just corrected! :)
Dave K
BTW, to stay on-topic, when I fled the house I grabbed some clothes, a
book to read, and two cds. One of my shirts was yellow with a red
circle and slash around...you get the rest. :) The cds were ROY and
FOLK3. Of course! Especially since my ROY cd is autographed!

According to the Internet Movie Database (http://www.imdb.com):
"Jim is soon to be married to Patty, but when he wakes up after a bachelor
party thrown by his friends, he finds an injured angel in his pool. When
Patty sees her, she thinks he's seeing someone else and gets upset and tells
her father. Now he has to figure out how to: cure the angel, tell Patty what
happened, keep his friends from taking the angel to the papers, and keep
Patty's father from killing him. It's no wonder he has a headache."
Or did you mean the story behind the son?

Hi everyone,
The other day I was listening to an Italian radio program here in Toronto
and a song they played had a sample of the little synth in the extended
version of The Safety Dance. Ok, the entire song is synth but you know
that part right after Ivan spells "safety"? That one. The song is dancey.
I'll try to see if I can find it when I go to Italy this summer.

Hi,
My name is Kevin and I listen to Men... OK, hold on, this sounds like
I'm at a 12-step program - I'm expecting the massive "Hi, Kevin" back .
. . . . . .
Oh, silence. OK.
Well, anyway, I really dig Men Without Hats. I still have my yellowing
cassettes of Rythym of Youth, Folk of the 80s, plus Pop Goes the World
that all get pretty steady play in my car. I've been online for 2 years
now, but it never dawned on me to look for other MWH fans until now. I
never realized that Sideways or Ivan's solo album even existed, and I am
looking forward to hearing them.
Well, I guess that's all I have to say about that. Talk to you all soon!

looked quite a bit over the last two days and I can't find one. If anyone
can help me, i'd really appreciate it. Thank you.

Speaking of which, (and pardon my ignorance) where does this track originate
from? And I mean the MWH one, not the one by Mike's Alaska Highway, Talking
Heads, Psychedelic Furs, Eurythmics etc etc :-)
