  61. I canna claim anyone was not evil, not even good 'ol Joan of Arc.
  62. Caesar's claim to fame was his military brilliance in Gaul, again
  63. an impressive body count. Napoleon, military, Attila? The scour
  64. of God? All of the above killed without remorse and for no greater
  65. reason than to further their glory. Not their country's, not to save
  66. the lives of their countrypersons, but for their own Glory.

  68. it's how I look at it...

  87. The two people I would consider to be the most evil have only been mentioned
  88. in brief passing.

  90. I am surprised that not more people jumped on the Soulcatcher band wagon.  I
  91. feel she is one of the big nasties of the Black Company World.    Evil in
  92. the malipuative the cold calculating slightly insane sort of way.    Some of
  93. the posts reflect on Croaker's evilness  (enteresting point of view) which
  94. steemed from his obsession to achive a sertian goal.  If you look at it,
  95. what was Soulcatcher's driving force if not a strong desire to enact revenge
  96. on her sister.  Pretty much everyting she did was amid at hurting the Lady.
  97. Look at how she even  malipulated events in The Black Company to get the
  98. company to leave their previous employer to join her. To Soulcatcher the
  99. world was her chess board in the ultiamte game of Chess with her sister, the
  100. Lady.

  103. My second most evil person would be Raven.  Mostly for the same reasons
  104. already brought up so I wont rehash them.

  209. a good choice for Limper, I could see Anthony Hopkins pulling it off too,
  210. especially in 'Raker'  when the mask is pulled off and he sips tea.
  211. Liam Neeson would be a decent Silent, as he can look expressive and
  212. sinister. If Danny Glover lost weight he could be a great One-Eye, if a
  213. little tall. Mark Wahlberg, although I hate to admit it,  *could*
  214. pass as Raven, or Daniel Baldwin, if he lost some weight.  Johnny
  215. Depp could be aged a bit (he always looks young) to play the Croaker of
  216. the first trilogy. Marilyn Manson as the Dominator? No need to waste
  217. money with make-up, he brings his own. James Woods as the Captain?
  218. Maximilian Schell would be a suitable Raker. Christina Ricci can be a bit
  219. sinister and with some work might work out as Lady/Soulcatcher. Rob
  220. Zombie is a great Shapeshifter in my opinion. Undertaker as Bonegnasher.

  389. Ufff.... everything you said is true. Still, please divide these people in
  390. tewo groups. The Before Republic, and the Republic Era. You see, long, long
  391. time ago, the king was the owner of his/her land, and everything in it. As
  392. time passed, people changed thet. Now you don't really consider yourself
  393. bound to the service of your ruler, right? So Napoleon started out by
  394. working on his military career, but to get to the highest power, he had to
  395. promise something to the citizens. Only then he claimes the empire.
  396. Ceasar lived at the dawn of citizenship.
  397. Now, Attila, Charles, Hammurabi and the famous rest, were dead sure, that it
  398. was their backyard they played in. They were acquairing new territories. And
  399. their countrypersons didn't even care- no such idea was before the Greek
  400. democracies. All you had to do was to stick to your work. Period.
  401. I think that in the BC world, a thousand years after that time, the
  402. historians will describe this time as the painful beginnings of the state.
  403. Roads, organisation, bureaucracy, courts. I am not surprized that at the
  404. very first steps of establishing a new level of organisation there can be
  405. huge mistakes, and noone likes it.
  406. That's all in division form personal evil decisions! i.e. Limper.
  407. Romans never actually got as far am my land, but ask the English, the
  408. German, the Spaniards, the Croatians how much the Roman culture enriched
  409. their own.

  504. Debateable.  However there wouldn't have been a Shadow War if Croaker hadn't
  505. been on his quest to get to Khatovar.  Further Croaker saw his only means of
  506. getting to khatovar was to go through the Shadowlands.  So he took the job
  507. of general only under the condition that he gets to become absolute Military
  508. Dictator of Taglios.  If he didn't need to cut his way through the
  509. shadowlands, he'd have never bothered with Taglios.  It was entirely his
  510. choice to get involved in that war and reshape a culture to suit his own
  511. ends of getting to Khatovar just so he could take some books to some place
  512. he'd heard of.

  529. But thats not what Croaker was doing, Croaker destroyed a world out of
  530. spite.  Not cause he was loosing, not cause he had any interest in that
  531. world whatsoever.  He was safe behind the shadowgate and heading home.

  534. object of his quest wasn't there anymore.  At least folks like the Dominator
  535. can be somewhat understood for why they'd do it "If I can't have it, neither
  536. can you".  Croaker on the other hand was "Well shit, Khatovar ain't here,
  537. and these people might try and screw with me.  I'll destroy their world just
  538. incase."

  540. Croaker is by _FAR_ the most evil person in the series.  No one else even
  541. attempted to destroy a world for so petty a reason.

  621. So?  If he judges the masters of khatovar so harshly, and in view of his
  622. pathological hatred of sorcerers, that makes him as bad.  He figured they
  623. can handle it, but seeing how Croaker views all sorcerers, he'd also figure
  624. they'd be out to take care of themselves first and screw the population
  625. (which proved to be right).  So to stick a thumb in the eye of a few, he is
  626. willing to slaughter the innocent non-sorcererous peasents that these people
  627. rule.

  631. could have done something else such as a) not provoke them further by

  634. on a world cause he was miffed at a couple of folks.

  649. into motion the events that lead to the murder of so many.  You are making
  650. some misassumptions here.  Remember the sorcerers didn't fight it at the
  651. gate, they fled back to their enclaves and defended themselves allowing
  652. everyone else to die.  So shadows who didn't go after those enclaves were
  653. free to spread out and roam across the world killing at will.

  929. #1.  Her whole schtick was revenge on lady.  She'd never have gone so far as
  930. to kill Lady and let the game end.  Thats why she imprisoned lady & the

  932. released, eventually she'd have done it herself out of sheer boredom.
