Standalone novel, _The Dragon Never Sleeps_ (not that there's a
whole lot to choose from...), closely followed by _Sung in Blood_, which
I have a perverse fondness for. Single non-standalone novel, a tossup
between _All Darkness Met_ and _Shadowline_ (although _Shadowline
*almost* stands alone), closely followed by _Old Tin Sorrows_.

Are yea all nuts? The award should to the Lady. She's about the
coldest B***h I've ever read about. How many did she slaughter?
Not only in the north, but also in the South? She "Took" how many
wizards to help her? Did yea all forget her spider like abilities to create
plots and run a empire so full of plots, counter plots and death?
Everyone else are Pikers compared to her.

Maybe we could open the question up to any series or book? (Although I
realize most people have just read BC.)
It's an interesting question of how you quantify evil.

Fear? Varthlokkur was feared by a great many people though they didn't need
to be.

Ahhh, the cold, unemotional killer. I don't think Lady was all that
unemotional. I think she just hid it very well.
I think Crask and Sadler were probably colder. Or perhaps Mouse and Noborn
w'Deeth. Or Lupo Provik.

Body Count? I think that prize has to go to the Director.

The Princes Thaumaturge or Mist are at least the Lady's equal at running an
empire with plots and counter plots. Or again Lupo Provik.

I don't think of the director as evil, just cold and desperate to go home. BUt yea,
he has the body count.
The Princes of Shinsan were coldest in thatseries I think, they did shit for the
evil fun of it.
W'Deeth wasn't evil either, after all, he considered humans a lesser species.
MOuse had lost all other purpose so I'll give you cold, not evil for him .
Crask and Sadler, they were evil.

I think that it is interesting how the characters we know the least seemed
to float to the top as the most evil: Kina, Dominator, Limper, the thing
under the tree.

We don't know his motives and the end result he was working toward. I think
if Glen gets to write the final 7 books of the Dread Empire maybe we would
know. So it's hard to say whether all the wars and societal upheaval he
caused were for good.

Yes, they were very ruthless in obtaining power.
> W'Deeth wasn't evil either, after all, he considered humans a lesser species.
Are you serious? Killing another species is okay as long as they are lesser?
What if they are a higher species?
Or are we forgiving his actions because Glen has shown us why he feels very
angry toward humans? How long does revenge stay good?
> Mouse had lost all other purpose so I'll give you cold, not evil for him.
Mouse seemed fairly normal except when it came to Sangaree. But I guess he
saw them as a lesser species so it was allright.
> Crask and Sadler, they were evil.
Any more evil than, say, Morley? They all take money for killing people.

You got me man, it all depends on where your sitting. Hmmm, the very point Glen
stresses in BC.
I heard that the next Dread Empire was written but never published.
This is going to sound stupid to any one who knows better, but is there any way if
enough people wanted it that it COULD get published? Like a preorder or something ?
I have been waiting for 8 years to find out what happens in Kavelin, and when I
first heard about no more books I freaked out for 3 days. Really.
I'm still upset and I found out a year ago.

Ah, Lupo. Wouldn't call him evil, though.
Though I'd also consider Raven... a guy who encapsulated all his "good guy"
feelings into protecting Darling, which left him 'morally free' to sell living
people to the Black Castle, amongst other sins. Evil is about quality as much
or more than quantity, after all.

Yep. The Old Meddler much better...
