  21. I'll Start it off.  I am almost through reading it for the 3rd or 4th time.  My question is what is so bad about the Kreklen (sp).  Did that ever get said and I just missed it?  They seemed to want to exterminate them from the begining.

  43. I think the Krekelen was just bait, something that a Guardship would have to
  44. see, have to notice, and follow up on, in order to attract one closer.  What
  45. was never explained was where they got the Krekelen to begin with--they were
  46. alleged to be extinct.

  48. As far as what is so bad about them, nothing is bad about a race of
  49. telepathic hive-minding shapeshifters if they are on your side.  If they are
  50. against you, it's something else again.  The bad side of the Krekelen does
  51. sort of get glossed over and since there's only the one, it never amounts to
  52. more than a red flag to draw Gemina in..  I thought a bigger deal would be
  53. made of it than it turned out to be.  Another potential Cook storyline that
  54. there is not time to follow up on.

  56. And I don't know why I didn't latch on to it until just now, but the
  57. Krekelen were recycled in the Garrett books.  Guess there was too much time
  58. between reading Dragon and reading the relevant Garrett stuff.  One of the
  59. latest Garrett books (the latest one, I think) deals with shapeshifters that
  60. are telepathic, smarter in groups and dumber when separated, and not
  61. altogether friendly.  Very parasitic creatures, killing influential people
  62. and taking their stuff, etc.

  67. This book has been out something like a decade or more, so are these really
  68. "spoilers"?
