The reason that the Night's Watch have a large number of criminals is because that most of them are there for BEING criminals. It's considered a place to send societies more unwelcome elements. People who join by choice are rare.

I'll Start it off. I am almost through reading it for the 3rd or 4th time. My question is what is so bad about the Kreklen (sp). Did that ever get said and I just missed it? They seemed to want to exterminate them from the begining.
