I once spoke to a guy that had the unfortunate task of cleaning up the
premises after a GG Allin "performance"! Anyone that doesn't already know
what this involves probably doesn't really need to know save to say this
wasn't a choice job... I believe GG's been dead a few years anyway. But
next time you think everyone in Vermont is nice and polite, just remember
it was also home to GG Allin!
Now speaking of the strange side of life, just got a used copy today of
Anton LaVey's "Satan takes A Holiday" with what one could only describe as
"touched" versions of Honolulu Baby, The More I see You and many more...

We still can find records by this guy in any bargain bin around town in
volumes enough to allow their use as wallpaper! Never been brave enough to
buy one myself but rumour has it I haven't missed much. Now then, Madame

sorry folks you won't find this one in any other place but here! Some

hi all,
by some miracle this shop here got in the charles wilp "bunny" cd. i am
so happy they got it in. it was actually something i looked for a little in
seattle but didn't find but i am loving it! is charles still alive? and
where did the bonus tracks come from? to me they sound more like
contemporary classical, like something kronos quartet would perform. any
reccomendations for stuff in a similiar vein to the music on this disc? the
shop is getting in the remixes for me. but anything else?
at the same time that i got this i also picked up the forbidden sounds of
don tiki. i tried just about everywhere to find this disc when i was back in
seattle and didn't find it. and here it is in taipei! so odd. but i'm
digging it too. i'm hoping they will be getting more of this stuff in even
if it is not the cheapest.(for cds here that is, about average compared to
most places). i also finally found the now sound of ursula 1000. which has
taken a little longer to grow on me than i expected. maybe because the
samples are much more familiar to me. with music that samples a lot i find
the less i know the samples the better i tend to enjoy the pieces.

Subject: (exotica) Godzilla
I've been watching a load of Godzilla films I taped last Christmas (gotta
clear em out before this years feast). I wonder if anyone knows anything
about the music on them.
In Godzilla Vs Mothra there are two small (1ft tall) women from the island
of Infanti who go to Japan to try and rescue Mothra's egg. They keep
singing these strange songs, very sweet and high pitched with chanting and
drums underneath. Does anyone know who did the music? are there OST's
available?
On some levels it reminds me of the Kodo drummers, except that here the drum
is subservient to the voice, so they could be folk songs, i suppose.
Thanks In advance.

This came up on another list - as far as i remember, if there are any
they were Japan-only, certainly no UK releases.

The song in Godzilla Vs. Mothra is sung by two women who call themselves
The Peanuts. The music is by Yuji Koseki and lyrics are written by Tomoyuki
Tanaka, Shinichi Sekizawa, and Ishiro Honda. The song (as well as other
music from the films), is available from GNP Crescendo and is called The
Best Of Godzilla 1954-1975. It's great. I don't have the later CD Best Of
Godzilla 1984-195, so i can't speak of it.

Back to Amanda Lear... now once again you hit my weak point (another
one),Alan.
I don't like Amanda Lear, I simply adore her. If she is a he, then you
might possibly be right, that I'm gay. But I highly doubt it, I'd say, 98%
probability she's a woman.
Irony? Why? Because she was a beautiful model (Dali called her "the most
beautiful skull in the world")? Because she did some of the best disco
tracks ever recorded? Because she was "the muse" of Dali for 15 years and
wrote
a great book about this relationship (actually the only book I know that
revealed a deep insight into this once-in-a-century genious)? Because she
did a
successful talkshow in Italian TV in the 80s, where she interviewed her
guests in bed? Because she was and still is an active - and not even bad -
painter? I think she is a damn interesting person. I guess, most people
just don't
assume that a beautiful woman can have any brains. Sorry, but if you downtrack
those Amanda Lear prejudices, it always comes to that point. I'd be damn proud
if I had done the things in my life that Amanda has done. Women's Lib should
long have discovered her as one of their heroines, but maybe they weren't
sure of her sex either.
As I said, you hit my weak point when it comes to Amanda Lear...

a
'Re:', but never got the original post? Does this happen to anybody
else?

Back to Amanda Lear... now once again you hit my weak point (another
one),
Alan.
I don't like Amanda Lear, I simply adore her. If she is a he, then you
might
possibly be right, that I'm gay. But I highly doubt it, I'd say, 98%
probability she's a woman.
Irony? Why? Because she was a beautiful model (Dali called her "the most
beautiful skull in the world")? Because she did some of the best disco
tracks
ever recorded? Because she was "the muse" of Dali for 15 years and wrote
a
great book about this relationship (actually the only book I know that
revealed
a deep insight into this once-in-a-century genious)? Because she did a
successful talkshow in Italian TV in the 80s, where she interviewed her
guests
in bed? Because she was and still is an active - and not even bad -
painter? I
think she is a damn interesting person. I guess, most people just don't
assume
that a beautiful woman can have any brains. Sorry, but if you downtrack
those
Amanda Lear prejudices, it always comes to that point. I'd be damn proud
if I
had done the things in my life that Amanda has done. Women's Lib should
long
have discovered her as one of their heroines, but maybe they weren't
sure of
her sex either.
As I said, you hit my weak point when it comes to Amanda Lear...

Subject: (exotica) Fred Lowery Whistling Hour
I finally got around to taking the time to put together a "show" to be
broadcast of Live365.
Actually, it was pretty easy, since i already had a bunch of Fred Lowery
stuff on my hard drive.
So, my first show is a tribute to the King of the Whistlers, material
compiled mostly from 78s and 45s with a couple of LPs thrown in.
You'll need a 56k modem - cable and DSL is really the way to go for best
results, in general.
http://www.live365.com/cgi-bin/directory.cgi?genre=search&searchdesc=basichip
who knows if anybody has listened, although my show rating did creep up from
to very good to very good and a half.
I can say that it is the only show of it's type on Live 365 and probably the
whole damn internet, so I take pride in that :)
Those into the more fashionable sounds of swank can look forward to future
shows of sitar and moog pop, sounds of spies and private eyes, radio spots /
commercials and jingles and my own brand of weirdness which I refer to as
Oddiotroniks.
Each "show" will have a link to an informative web page complete with album
details and featured covers.
Keyword is album, as in record album. CD's will always be avoided, unless
they are some of the wonderful CD-Rs I have received from some of my trader
pals, turning me onto some incredible stuff!
* Sigh *
Those of you who know me know that it takes me a week to reply to an email.
So how will I manage this?
Wish me luck!

And...
The Dusty Springfield box set - is it worth getting? I had a look and it
seems that I have most of the tracks, and the ones I don't have feature the
Pet Shop Boys - hence why I don't have them!
And as for Shirley Bassey - I wasn't sure about getting the remix album -
and just as well because yesterday in a charity shop (thrift store) i picked
up a double lp of her greatest hits for... ú1.99! (and some children in
Africa got a meal out of it as well, so everyone's happy!)

Are there Users who made that experiences ???

No, thank Heaven, however, I do know that if you must send your credit card
via e-mail, it is best to encrypt the e-mail (PGP is good for that)

If you're ordering with a credit card, call the dealer, order the record
and give him/her the credit card details. No probs.
If you do get ripped-off, the credit card company is liable anyway so
don't panic.
Seven Golden Men soundtrack is just about to close on EBay at $11 mint.
Sounds like a good deal.

'Tis true! SEVEN GOLDEN MEN is ESSENTIAL! Although
it's been reissued on CD, the cover art is better on
the vinyl! Good luck!

They say ordering via the web (on a secure order page) is as safe (if not
more so) than ordering over the phone.
Probably not wise to put it in an e-mail, tho'.

There are a number of comps out there dedicated to the work of Joe Meek
(Telstar author / producer). Joe was also an inventor, engineer, Ouija board
enthusiast (who claimed to regularly channel Buddy Holly) & legendary
nutcase (think Phil Spector & multiply by 6); the best place to start might
be the Rhino comp, I think it's called "I Hear A New World." Not all surf,
but quite a few instros, a few pop hits, and other stuff... some of it "very
other."

Laika & the Cosmonauts are probably my favorite current instro act
(maybe along with Los Straitjackets). I also have to mention (forgive the
last-minuteness) that the Cosmonauts are in the US for a v-e-r-y few shows
this weekend;
Fri 10/13 - Somerville, MA at the Skybar, 518 Somerville Ave. (617) 623-5223
Cosmonauts @ 11:15; also Seks Bomba 10:00
Sat 10/14 - NYC at Brownies, 169 Avenue A (212) 420-8392 www.browniesnyc.com
<http://www.browniesnyc.com>
With the Upper Crust, call for set times.
Mon 10/16 - Hoboken, NJ Maxwell's, 1039 Washington St. (201) 653-1703
Cosmonauts @ 9:00, also Los Straitjackets (10:00), Seks Bomba (8:00)
Tue 10/17 - Philadelphia PA Upstage, upstairs fr Wichita Steaks, 22 S. 3rd
St (215) 627-4825
w/Seks Bomba, call for set times
The live album is not out in the US yet, but their Europe-only
release "Absurdistan" is just now being released on YepRoc. They also have 3
US releases on Upstart, my fave being "Instruments of Terror," which
contains the studio version of the abovementioned Psycho / Vertigo themes.
(Full disclosure; I not only play with Seks Bomba, but I work at Rounder
Records, who own the Upstart catalog - you just have to trust me on this
stuff...)

I think the compilation you are thinking of is "It's Hard to Believe It -
The Amazing World of Joe Meek" (Razor & Tie RE 2080-2) which is first rate.
"I Hear a New World" was Joe Meek's concept album recorded in 1960 as "an
outer space music fantasy". RPM Records has reissued it.
If you are interested in further examination of the Meek musical universe
try "Intergalactic Instro's" (Diamond Records GEMCD 002) which features a
couple of live recordings by The Tornados and even includes Joe Meek's demo
for Telstar.

I'm even willing to trade for a burn of something, so long as you can provide
color printouts or scans of the front and back covers. Just send me your

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Emile Kuri, a two-time Oscar winner for his work on movie
sets and the designer of some of Disneyland's most enduring attractions, died
Tuesday. He was 93.
Kuri won Oscars for set design for the 1949 movie ``The Heiress'' and 1954's
''20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.''
He also won an Emmy for his set work on television's ``Walt Disney's Wonderful
World of Color.'' Other Disney films he decorated included ``Mary Poppins'' and
``The Absent-Minded Professor.''
Kuri's first job in film was as a set decorator for Hal Roach's 1937 film
``Topper.''
Kuri went on to work with many of the top directors of the 1940s and '50s,
decorating sets for the Alfred Hitchcock movies ``Spellbound,'' ``Rope'' and
``The Trouble With Harry''; Frank Capra's ``It's a Wonderful Life''; and George
Stevens' ``Shane'' and ``A Place in the Sun.''
As head decorator for Walt Disney Productions, he supervised the design of
Disneyland's sailing ship Columbia and the park's New Orleans Plaza Inn, as
well as the Disney exhibits at the 1963 World's Fair in New York.
He was a consultant for Florida's Walt Disney World and oversaw the decorating
