Only on the E(e)xotica list could Nietzsche and Jung exist in perfect harmony. I'm sure you meant that statement in all seriousness, but I found it hilarious!
Oh well ... that's all from me! Adios!

No, I don't have any more news on the Kahiki event either. But just because a
telephone call to the Kahiki results in a 'it's all sold out' message doesn't
mean that tickets won't be available later from the promoters.
The Aug 26 event is a private event, so I'm assuming that the promoters of this
private event are the only ones who have any say over ticket distribution. I'm
assuming that they would prefer to have a selective, knowledgable crowd who
truly appreciates tiki culture, rather than have all the seats taken by some
local Ohioans who may have never even been to the Kahiki before but heard that
a big party is happening there.
My guess is that the situation is similar to when a conference or wedding party
reserves a huge block of rooms at a hotel. If a potential guest simply calls
the hotel and asks for a room, they may get a 'no rooms available that night'
message unless they identify themselves as being with that particular
conference or wedding party. My guess is that the entirety of the Kahiki
tickets are 'blocked out' and not available to the general public, but
information on purchasing these tickets will be released soon to tiki
aficionados. It is a big event to plan, especially on such short notice, and
I'm sure the promoters want to assure as smooth a process as possible.
And in case I'm wrong and all the tickets are really sold out ....well, I'll
just have to go on over to the Alexandria's Honolulu restaurant that night and
have a few mai-tais there instead.

i understand your comments, but many of us who are far from the event need
time to arrange travel, time off from work, accommodations, etc.
and it sounds like that it maybe even too late to attend anyway as the thing
is "sold out."
again, not to sound ill spirited, but time is passing and with each day it
seems less likely that many of us will be able to organize a trip in time.
