  21. O-ring chain maintenance mantras are like opinions; everybody's got one (or 
  22. something like that). The main advantage of an o-ring is the fact that the 
  23. pins stay "permanently" lubed; permanently, that is, until you do something 
  24. to violate the seal like take a full-force aim with that fancy-new 9,000psi 
  25. pressure washer or clean the chain with Gumout. Gentle washing or VERY 
  26. careful use of a pressure washer is all that's needed to clean the crud off 
  27. followed by a spray down of WD-40 (Chain Wax would be my second choice). The 
  28. WD-40 will displace any water, keep the chain from rusting and, as far as I 
  29. can tell, do no harm to the o-rings (and is MUCH CHEAPER than those high rent 
  30. chain lubes). The WD-40 will also lube the rollers (the barrel shaped peices 
  31. that engage the chain).

  114. Subject: (dr350) 99 DR350SE questions

  116. I bought a new 99 DR350SE about two months ago. It has had a problem
  117. with missing / sputtering at about 2500 rpm especially when cold.  The
  118. problem doesn't seem to be as bad now that I've got about 500 miles on
  119. the bike although it's still there.  I'm getting ready to take it in for
  120. the first service and wondered if anyone else has experienced this
  121. problem. I'm a 47 year old beginning rider, so far I've been riding fire
  122. roads and once to the desert along with some street riding close to
  123. home.  I would also appreciate any advice on modifications for this
  124. bike.  Comments on air box, carburetor, and the rear swing arm changes
  125. would be appreciated.
